Chick, have you ever written a song (or lyrics at least)? It's nice to see youre finally comfortable, like youre home on the channel now instead of just trying it on. And lucky that too, your technical knowledge surrounding vocal cord usage is refined and vast... adds a ton of value! The duet Somewhere from Whithin Temptation and Anneke van Giersbergen is in my opinion one of the best duets ever.

Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Epica are somewhat of a holy trinity in symphonic metal-Sharon is amazing bc she’s self-taught, as opposed to many female metal singers who have operatic training (including Amy Lee!). She’s really something special and such a wonderful songwriter as well! I love how her voice has developed over the years and how dedicated the band is to using their music to explore social issues. This is definitely a favorite song of mine and seeing her share the stage with Amy Lee was so special for my inner teenager too! I actually got to see this tour live, though they didn’t duet at the show I went to. But next, Epica!! If you’re a fan of Floor from Nightwish, you’ll love Epica’s singer Simone Simons. She and Floor have similar vocal backgrounds, but both of their voices are so special in different ways. Amy Lee did not have any kind of operatic training. In Highschool she was in a choir and that's it. She is a classically trained pianist, however.

Within Temptation lead singer is Sharon den Adel, she is mostly self taught. But she has been at it for a long time, band formed in 1996, this performance was Nov 30, 2022 in Amsterdam. Amy's approach is different , maybe because she is singing the male vocal part. The studio version of this song featured Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach). More Within Temptation: you will probably enjoy "Paradise (What About Us) feat Tarja. Hvae you heard Amy's duet with Lzzy Hale on the Halestorm ballad "Break In"?

Great pairing for a duet! One of my favorite performances of Sharon's is 'Forgiven' from the Resist Tour. Very heartfelt performance by Sharon, she starts to cry a couple times. Sharon is famous for her songs where she uses her headvoice. Those are the songs that made them great. Her use of voice changed since somewhere around 2011/2. I don't know if this has to do with her getting older or the change in their type of musicmaking, but it just sounds different. When i listen to the Sharon from 2002 it's absolutely magical and incomparable to the Sharon of today. I still very much love her. Next up probably will be Somewhere because of the incredible harmonies.

Fun fact: In the early WT years Sharon only sang high vocals that sounded kinda weird but very special and beautiful. I know some people hated that, lol. I loved it but I also love the lower voice she adapted over the years.

Within Temptation was formed at the same time as Nightwish, but is the pop version. Singer Sharon den Adel and guitarist/growler Robert Westerholt had just fallen in love and wanted to make music together in 1996. In 2001 they released their first single Ice Queen, which was an instant hit. They quickly established themselves as one of the big bands. In 2011 Robert retired from the stage. You have a great tone to your speaking voice. Although I'm really into female harsh vocals I also find some women have tones that are pleasing and don't need a growl. One that comes to mind is Harriet.

Stage settings and visual effects really add to the performance. Sharon has good vocals but I didn't really care for the singing in this song.

Skirt to short en dress too long. A lot of pushing by Sharon and a very soft low tone from Amy. Not the Amy I know from Evanecense.And Within Temptation is a Gotic metal band not symphonic. Didn't like it.
