I just picked up an excellent condition XPS 9710 i7 11800H, 4TB, 64GB DDR4 ram for 1200. despite being almost 3+ years old. I believe it’s a worthy buy for 2024 the used market.

Good video - thanks for the thorough review. The sound section was a bit too long. Would have liked the conclusion to be more data driven...

How can I watch 4k movies from Amazon video. On the 16.... It only plays at 1080p resolution. Is there something I can change? What do you recommend

Been using an l502x i7 Dell Sandy Bridge since May 2012. Just upgraded to a Core Ultra 9 XPS 16! Change every 12 years seems good enough to me.

A used Dell XPS 9510 is by far the best laptop you can get in 2024. I got mine in near mint condition with an i9-11900H, an RTX 3050 Ti, and the OLED screen. Basically maxing out the non upgradeable components. Then I put in 64GB of DDR4-3200, and 2x2TB SSDs. All of that totaled to just $1200.

Still a better deal than this new one.

@@арияана there is a reason why such "good" deal appears, new or old. i have one and it is so noisy and hot even under very light use. replaced thermal with liquid metal without much improvement. it is the xps that makes me allergic and suffering to anything noisy and hot, and gives me the reason to get a macbook air.
@PKperformanceEU5 ай бұрын
No its not🤡🤡🤡. 11900H at that power budget is slow garbage, even a m1air massively outperforms it. 9510 is small, too thin, has zero cooling, zero gpu power, gets hot, noisy🤮.

The XPS 16 9640 keyboard drives me nuts, because my fingers can't feel where they are. I either make a lot of mistakes or have to look down all the time. Either way, it's very frustrating. I've thought about putting clear tape or nail polish on the keys - but I'm afraid of making things even worse. Or maybe using a better external keyboard. Or I could just live with and try to get used to it. Does anybody have any better ideas?
@NasiLemakTech2 ай бұрын
I'm okay with that since I always park my fingers at WASD for my left hand. But because of the keyboard being much smaller than the 16-inch body... I keep parking my hand too far to the left and just press on Q instead of W. You could try putting masking tape on top the key. Just a small one would do as it can train your muscle memory. I kinda like this idea tbh.

Soldered RAM and no additional memory slot mean that I'm already writing off such a laptop and the memory in this laptop is quickly damaged. My friend bought one and within a week his RAM memory was damaged.

Would you say this Laptop is better than the Samsung - Galaxy Book4 Ultra 16?
@NasiLemakTech4 ай бұрын
Never tried the Samsung laptop before. Looking at some other resources online, the Samsung laptop has a secondary SSD slot and that's already better than the XPS.

I gave up on Dell XPS the moment they changed their keyboard style... Dell tries to be "different" but accomplishes nothing.

Clearly a downgrade from the previous generation. Not at all impressed with the port reduction, the soldered in RAM, and the lack of a second m.2 slot all makes it a no-go for the newer machine. I much prefer the previous generation, so that is what I purchased. I got an XPS 15 9530.. installed a second m.2 to install Linux on so that windows and Linux can be totally separate and dual bootable.

Why try to game in 4k? Especially on a device like this, with a gpu like this (rtx 4050). Thats pretty unrealistic and makes the test not particularly useful or relevant. Would have been much more useful to show 1080p (1200p) gaming
@NasiLemakTech6 ай бұрын
Why include a 4K screen? 1440p is perfectly fine for a laptop of this size too.
@kylebelle2466 ай бұрын
@@NasiLemakTech??? This is really not a good take on the situation. But if you really want an answer, it has a 4k screen for media consumption and creative work purposes. They never intend for you to game triple A titles at that resolution. Heck there are devices with no dedicated GPU which still have a 4k screen, obviously not meant for gaming, but if you do want to play the occasional game you are supposed to lower the resolution.
@kylebelle2466 ай бұрын
@@NasiLemakTechand even 1440p would still be too high to play most games at a decent frame rate
@NasiLemakTech6 ай бұрын
Nah, still a valid argument since at most, TV shows and movies are only made up to 1080p only. Having 4K resolution is to boost PPI and view texts sharper. But on a 16 inch screen... 1440p would've sufficed. And the reason why I'm talking about DLSS is because we can upscale games from a lower to higher resolution without losing much visual fidelity compared to playing it at 1080p on a 4K screen

As with Technology in general?...once again they go "to the extreme" when it comes to thinness, while I can appreciate a thin and light laptop?these most recent offerings?...are nothing more than thin metal WAFERS!........and most people who DO travel with a laptop want not only "light"...but "sturdy"....sorry these latest offerings are just a bit too thin for the traveling programmer / coder / content creator etc.....I'll stick with my Lenovo T-480..and my Dell XPS 15(9560) and 7590 thin enough to not kill my shoulder (messenger bag or backpack!) and "thick and strong" enough to survive a drop from a kitchen tablle screen open...hardwood floors (happened to BOTH of them..and they survived without a scratch or dent! (I wonder if the thin & light laptops would have survived with no damage?) Awesome video though!...keep it up!!
