I love what you said about how we have to love the audition. That's how I feel when I would attend an open mic night and each performer only has a 5 minute time limit on stage. Throughout the years I've done stand-up, I've had amazing nights, okay nights and sometimes bad nights when I wouldn't get any laughs. But, I don't let the silence get me down. I keep going.

I have been coaching vocal and acting performance, doing audition prep, and helping actors prepare for and find opportunities for a couple of years now. I refer them to classes, communicate with casting directors and leading them find auditions-- but I've been doing all of the manager-esque stuff for Fuh-REE lol. But I am getting some of them paid work and not getting any of that money myself. I realized watching your videos that managing is mostly what I have been doing so I want to transition into doing it officially. Not a lot of help out there for getting started as a manager per se.

Hi Wendy! still a bit confused here probably due to reading so many diff articles on google. I’ve heard that managers cannot procure employment for their talent but incidental procurement is fine as long as the manager provides other services like career guidance to them? So let’s say the actor does not have an agent but has a manager and the manager makes a connection with a casting director, and thru that connection the actor books a gig. Is the manager still not able to receive commission from that? is that not allowed?
