You give me such confidence, I knew I wanted to be an actress since I was 14, but I always had doubts, and when it was time for me to pick something to study I wanted to focus on my acting career, but my parents told me to have a degree and after that I could whatever I wanted with my life, so while I finish college I'm going to join this semester the theatre club and gain some experience and confidence, I know this is what I want to do for living and I'm gonna work my ass off, thank you so much for your advice ❤️❤️❤️❤️

i agree with what you said that these things ought be taught at acting schools~ colleges. if we spend 4 years in college~ and other~ honing our craft~ becoming solid actors, we also need to know how to get cast. the whole audition process , what one needs to be ready for the business end~ this is all so very needed. so grateful you are posting it here. invaluable

Hi Wendy, Thank you for sharing your knowledge; the depth of information is INVALUABLE! After an embarrassing number of years in this path....a lifetime really; finally coming to terms at how irresponsible and asleep I've been. I am awake now.
@SaraX20245 жыл бұрын
I am tall a woman with short hair and my type is the tough one (in our industry, people say I look like Ruby Rose, but that's coincidence)... mostly I get uniformed, police, soldier, SWAT. To be honest, I don't like this mold anymore. The auditions I get for these types of roles are not very challenging. It's the average police talk of arresting someone, reading someone his or her rights. I want to have more depth, which is easier for me as I actually can get into a character and have more to work and engage with. I am a very deeply thinking person and this is what acting for me is about. I studied method acting at both Lee Strasberg Institutes and other schools and know how to connect to my body and deeper self. David at the Lee Strasberg Institute looked at me for a few seconds and said, "You're a rebel, but with a good cause." I liked that one.

First, thank you for your commitment and passion that truly comes through in this youtube video. Its been a long long time since I took to acting, back in the late 70's I took an HB studio coaching program and for me life and circumstances got in the way. NO regrets. Now with Covid, i have the opportunity to look to those things that i put in a precious box that i did love and needed time, commitment and priority to dedicate. I am now 50 but believe for the love of the art its never too late. So i search the youtube and feel blessed I found you. Im not sure if it is for me today, However I am prepared to explore, commit, seek and see. I now have the time. but i just wanted to say thank you i have learned so much already and I love what you have conveyed. Stay Safe Lynette Spano

Hi Wendy! Thank u for this incredible information. I have one quastion thou. About my headshot. Lets say If the casting director is looking/scrolling for a type at an agency website, lets say the boy next door. But my headshot looks like a bad cop. But one of my four types is the boy next door also. But if the casting director sees my first headshot at the website, or any other website, wont my chances of getting an audition smaller?

'Gorgeous People' make social media influencers. Not Artists. It is not a great mirror of Reality so people don't look at a stunning gorgeous person and feel like they can relate. I would argue most leads are easily palateable to the eye but can be ANY body type or size or look and are above average in looks at best. GORGEOUS people are rarely ACTUALLY Hollywood leads. You can find people that meet the American Beauty Standard at EVERY age on social media, however.
