@JoRoq15 ай бұрын
The poison/suicide bit might actually have some validity in the pay-off (even though yes, it's stupid). They are building up the real mystery (as the murders are just a plot tool and not the real story) as what happened 16 years ago when the twins' family home was burned. Both girls survived, but each though the other dead. Sol rescued one girl, and intentionally hid that she had a presumed-dead twin from the Jedi records. 4 Jedi were apparently on that planet at the time, and the evil twin clearly has some undisclosed reason to think they were responsible for the fire (and thus seeks vengeance). The untouchable Jedi apparently did hold on to some kind of deep guilt for what happened. There is actually an interesting story hidden here, just being botched in the execution.

"A Jedi does not pull a weapon unless prepared to kill" is contradicted by the fact that lightsabers exist. Lightsabers are a defensive weapon. Jedi very often use lightsabers to block blaster bolts. Shad's passionate response to that moronic line is very reasonable, lol

The whole thing with assassination attempt of the Jedi master at the start - there were a lot of individuals who'd do that over the course of the story and one thing they have in common is - stealth. You, as an assassin, are going against one of the most powerful individuals in the galaxy, hyper-aware of everything going around them. You need every single trick to hopefully get one of them, and even then it is extremely risky, even if the assassin is a force user themselves. Unless the assassin is a Sith lord themselves, they would look to create a situation where the target is ambushed or otherwise at a disadvantage. They would NEVER just walk up to a Jedi Master and ask for a fight. Because, your whole goal is to kill the Jedi Master and not test your luck. Jedi Master would have sensed the dark force user a mile away and the moment she actually challenges her to a fight in a bar, with a bunch of civilians, a Jedi Master would slice her open without too much of a thought. Because, the alternative is endangering a bunch of civilians. Which is exactly why assassins that targeted Jedi over the franchise used stealth, ambushes, traps and all other kind of trickery. And they were outfitted specifically with gear that would increase their chances against the Jedi - like a flamethrower, saber resistant armor or weapons, multi-projectile weapons (like Mandalorian has, the Whistling birds) that might overwhelm the Jedi who's focus is damaged and many others. Dark force user just walking into a bar with a bunch of knives to attack a Jedi Master in the broad daylight - probably the most stupid thing in the franchise, and we are still on the first scene. Plus, the fact that Jedi Master does not slice her open the moment she takes out a weapon... Jedi are not idiots. One you threaten anyone with lethal force, you are going down. You'll at least get your hand(s) sliced off so you would not be a threat. And that assassin had NOTHING to counter the lightsaber. Absolutely nothing. Which is one more reason why assassins of Jedi tend to avoid direct fight with a Jedi - lightsaber resistant weapons/armor are very hard to find and damn expensive. In the realistic (for the setting) first scene, Jedi would sense her a mile away and walk out in a field or some other secluded area and play dumb. Stupid assassin would track the Jedi, get her hands sliced off the moment she takes out the daggers, and dragged before the Jedi council to figure out who trained her, why, and where can they find them. It is a 10 minute show in all.
@jaieregilmore9715 ай бұрын
Thank god someone say it there no way an actual Jedi master would lose like that and I found the whole not using the lightsaber was dumb they can end the fight quickly one slice in the arm there no point prolonging it. At the point of the prison ship scene we don't know yet that an evil twin exists and that Osha is innocent. Her actions during that scene contradict with that of the killer which is meant to do two things: Show her character, her values as well as throw the audience into a loop, because something doesn't make sense here. She cooperates with the arrest, as well as cared for the prisoner who gets "sedated" via that parasite. She refuses to take part in the prison break until the ship gets damaged and is about to crash (survival instinct). And even then she rescues that one prisoner. She puts trust in the Jedi and the system because she seemingly believes (though actually knows) she is innocent. In contrast we have seen the killer who uses deception and trickery to kill Jedi, involves, hurts and risks the life of innocent people to achieve her goal. Multiple personalities? Good acting on her part? Mind control? Changeling? Evil twin? Drugs? etc. There are a lot of theories that could have explained the contradictions we see between the killer and Osha. That whole arrest - prison ship sequence is meant to show that, show (part of) Osha's personality. The prison ship scene also gives an "excuse" as for why she didn't reach Coruscant and that they have to send a party out there who then can "operate on their own". If anything, that arrest as a whole and that they put somehow who's trained in the force and (allegedly) killed a Jedi Master in such a minimal security prison ship is just hilariously stupid.

The prisoners that escaped from the transport are there, so they had to rescue them, transport them to the jedi, NOT scan the wreckage for survivors, and then head there and save her... before she freezes to death... which amazingly is never a problem, because you can girl boss your way out of not freezing to death by simply ignoring it. Not only that, but she survives both lack of atmosphere and being burnt to death on reentry because there are giant holes in the ship's hull! And those holes are on the TOP, which means those holes happened IN SPACE.

But a remote hacking cyborg, a former jedi, and a guy whose tongue is basically a long arm, jut get thrown in a weak as shit cell that has an opening mechanism right next to it. @6Vlad6Tepes65 ай бұрын
And? It's his right to like it. Just like it's your right to have your opinions buddy.
@John-fk2ky5 ай бұрын
@@6Vlad6Tepes6 you have the RIGHT to like whatever you want, but that doesn’t make it logical to like it if literally everything about most of those shows is objectively less than great. There’s a whole host of movies and shows I like that I will be the first to admit aren’t masterpieces, but they all have components that are enjoyable and the total product is not BAD. The problem with Rings of Power, Wheel of Time, and most of Star Wars is that they’re bad all around.

Whats worrying is we are now getting to the point where the last genuinely successful TV - Thrones, Breaking Bad, Sopranos - Are fading into history. People are forgetting the time when the watermark for a great show was everyone watched it and talked about it at work the next day. We are getting to the stage that you release the new franchised slop, it does similar numbers to the last franchised slop and everyone pats each other on the back and laughs at the alt-right trolls who cry about it. Nobody remembers the time when shows used to do ten times the numbers, they forget what success actually looks like so there is no reason to change.

I'm sorry you felt compelled to watch this. Wasn't really expecting anything else. And given how long the show was in production, I suspect the reason it seemed so disjointed and contradictory was because of the process that Doomcock refers to as scrapbooking. (If you aren't familiar with his channel, it might be beneficial to look him up, especially where Disney is concerned.) Scrapbooking is filming a number of individual scenes in a number of different variations for the purpose of being easy to string together in any preferred order. This is done to give the production more flexibility to deal with rewrites, retcons, and administrative changes. However it comes with a lot of downsides, including the narrative becoming disjointed, or self contradictory, because the pieces don't quite fit. The expense is also a downside, which is why a lot of the productions seem like they have a very inflated budget. Well, one cause. DEI bloat is assuredly another. But the disjointed and contradictory narrative you immediately mentioned made me suspect that this was the cause.

Great review. I love how the jedi in the beginning watches her beat the living daylights out of a crowd unarmed people before deciding to tepidly intervene. I am going to address some of these point by point...going off of memory. The time it takes to fly in hyper space: The whole reason that Han was proud of the millenium falcon is because it made the kessel run in whatever it was.... 12 parsecs. And in a new hope jumping from Tatooine to Alderan and they were in hyperspace for a considerable amount of time, denoting that while travel is fast, it still takes time. The prison ship coming out of hyperspace in an asteroid feild: Again a new hope, Han makes a significant point about the navigation being paramount when traveling through hyperspace for the express reason that if you collided with something at that speed your trip would be over real quick.

I rhetorically asked this before, but it's proven. What does The Acolyte bring to make you care? Other than the same spite toward an original franchise, I mean. As heavily flawed as the prequels were, they told Anakin's story. Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars cartoons displayed the growth of the character. Everything about this show is more of Kathlyn Kennedy showing how envious she is of the men that carried her entire career.

Real world logic and original Star Wars logic would say that stuff happened over four days to a week, but with Disney's Star Wars logic it all happened with in a 40 minute period from the moment the ship dropped out of Hyperspace to the point they found the crashed ship. And the escape pods were found and captured and the escaped criminals were taken to the one planet ten to fifteen minutes after it dropped out of Hyperspace.

The double standard for how they treat men vs women is intentional. They're having a double standard to say, "See? How does that feel?". To them I say, "And?". Some dude being topless so they can "objectify" a man means nothing to me and is nothing new. You women have been watching soap operas, fantasizing about having affairs with multiple men for years. But, then they act like it's men that are the problem. What about all those "romance" (sex) novels with Fabio on the covers? But... buuuuut, it's men that are the evil objectifiers. Or the Hallmark Channel men who are presented on a level of perfection we could never live up to. Meanwhile, us guys are watching Chuck Norris movies and military suspense novels. Or watching Star Wars and reading Star Wars novels. But, now Disney is taking those things and feminizing it purely out of spite. They can do whatever they want but I've got other things to spend my money and time on. I have options. Plus, we have the Legends books and Comics. As well as the OT movies.
