There's something about Jacquemus that feels very humble and grounded despite its innovative and ambitious experimentation the brand has always done. I wonder why.
@Commentator5413 жыл бұрын
Because it is intentionally marketed that way while in reality it tries to reenact a small designer look... nothing new. I like the aesthetic but as a “brand” this has no substance.

FYI: Jacquemus has announced his new collection "La Montagne". The show is on the 30th June at an undisclosed location. It's his fall collection, so the first pieces will be available to buy after the show and the main collection will be in stores for September.

It is rare that I can "understand" a high fashion brand, and I found his early shows completely uninteresting, even from an experimental point, but the more it progresses, the more I "get" his point. I guess that having the same references and nostalgia helps, it's an ode the the french "province", very different from Paris, a really important distinction. The lasts shows litterally feel like he took the content of my grandma's linens closet, went to a village farm, and brought all of it to a cheap camping site near te beach for summer vacation. But way classier. I'm also way more focused on textiles and materials than shapes, so it might help.

It is interesting to note that he started creating "abstract", near unwearable and transitioned to practical workwear/leisure clothing with his own childlike vision

Thank you for this retrospective (that I am watching in 2024 😅)! I was never too fond of this clothing or accessories but I understood the hype. As a French woman, from the South of France, this video really gave me a new appreciation for Simon’s work. He seems like such a bright and full-hearted person and it shows through his work (not just the design, the whole world-building/ social media marketing aspects). Keep up the awesome videos! Been a buyer a multi brand for years and years, bought Jacquemus season 3, those weird shapes and off the body stuff sold quickly, full price … cause in 2015 those prices were low.. especially compared to comme and shit, and those were the customers at the beginning. But that 2016 collection changed everything… that circle sq shoe blew out, everything flew..100% sell through before sale..the shirting was incredible… and like you said CHEAP! It was so much fine to buy and sell

I think it's so interesting how I'm seeing someone people absolutely loathe this style. In the beginning, sure, I think I would agree. But around 2017 and going on I am 1000% on board. I think it just goes to show that you can't and frankly shouldn't please everyone. I love how his clothes emphasize the natural shape of women's breasts, and showing off our legs and using drapery to build in comfort. This aligns already with how I dress myself but it's also beautiful and glamorous. Frankly not everyone wants to dress themselves that way or even think that he emphasizes those body parts in ways that they want to. I think they have a right to feel that way! But I think this designer also has a right to do what he does and appeal to those of us that would enjoy wearing his beautiful clothes. Thank you so much for this video! I stumbled upon this designer as someone who does not keep up with runway fashion at all. I really enjoyed this!!!

Instant-sub, gonna binge your channel. I'm a baguette from the sud, une chocolatine to be exact, also Spanish. Pretty impressed with your French pronunciation, it's better than most fashion youtubers. Only thing I was hella confused as to what you were talking about until you explained it was "Gadjo", the J is softer and there's an emphasis on the O, I'd suggest looking it up on wiktionary there's a sound file to check pronunciation. I mean, it's not really French but it's a part of the urban vocabulary now so we're pretty used to it, I thought you were saying something in Italian. 😅 Thanks for this video! I didn't have Jacquemus on my radar, which is amusing as we seem to have the same heritage and I can clearly see his vision now that you pointed it out. Méditerranée represent.

I really love Jacquemus's evolution as a fashion brand, how it started with a very concrete and defined aesthetic, with the beachy/travel apparel and overall childlike playfulness in their garnments, and sticked with it, now with a much more refined, wearable and luxurious approach, being yet so ingraned in its core that it's still a distinctive feature of the brand. However I also really liked the more experimental and deconstructed side of Jacquemus from the mid 2010's. I personally don't feel like the designs started to become forcibly experimental, I think that it was more of a natural turn of events that pushed and helped to reinforce the brand's ethos into what it is now, and I would really like to see more of this side from the brand in the future, it would be pretty interesting to see what could be the result with the same risky approach from before. Really good coverage overall, loved the change of backrounds mid video ;)
