Very very well done Mr Lake - so the question needs to be asked ! did you over pack or under pack ?

I packed about right, however I could have done with a small frame pack or handlebar bag, I just needed a little more "space" for stuff.

@@BikepackingAdventures trying my best to get away without a frame bag, might go with a bigger top tube bag to fit the goodies in. Got a thing for rice pudding on rides at the moment (co-op £1 a tin) but have to put them in the tailfin as a bit weighty.

How do get on with the pedal cell, i was thinking of one myself.

For this race I didn't need it, check point and Airbnb and ferry crossing arrived at the perfect time so I could have left it at home. For longer trips it would be ideal, again it depends how much time you spend sleeping at camp sites and bnbs. Power banks have come along way on recent years making dynamos someone what redundant. As for usage, best practise is to connect a power bank to it and then charge other devices from that. I tried to charge my phone directly and it would constantly dip in and out of charging; probably due to terrain, speed and bumps etc. If your planning to be away for weeks at a time and trying to avoid the cost of bnbs etc then I would recommend one but for most of the time a power bank or two would suffice.

@@BikepackingAdventuresyou’re right about power banks. Being on a ride where there will be numerous opportunities to recharge electricals is ideal, apart from all the cables 🤯 I suppose that the PedalCell makes a good fall back, it’s unfortunate that you can’t recharge yr phone directly. I wonder what the best capacity vs weight vs cost power bank is?

Change your by me a coffee link to " buy me some shoes" your definitely getting your moneys worth out of them 😂. I know what you mean about the topeak multi tool. I have one and yeah, leverage is pretty poor. Does have the chain hook, spoke key and valve core remover on though so you could ditch them. Down pants are the way to go don't you think?
