What's funny is this show explained the complexities of schrödingers cat to an entire generation and did so in a way that was understandable (if a bit simple). I like that Penny is honest that Leonard isn't who she would date, but she still does. Also, when he asked her on a date, she answered quickly, in fact so quickly that in infers she was interested even if she hadn't realized it.

Due to the writers' strike and the nature of network television, it seems the first season was completed prior to a second season order by CBS. I believe there is an effort to tie up loose ends for loyal viewers, in case this would be the series finale. There's a bit of an awkward reset for season two. Not only did the writers likely already have stories planned for these characters, but there's some valuable development, leading to a number of very satisfying moments ahead.

Since we are to the point where Penny and Leonard are showing romantic feelings towards each other, I guess I can say this now. I don't really remember how things go on the show, but Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco were dating in real life for a couple years at the start of the show from 2008-2010. So the chemistry they displayed on the show was authentic.

05:42 - 05:45 I'm not ok with you Americans calling a sausage like a VEGETABLE and I will never be!!!>O
@luminiferous19604 ай бұрын
They are not spelled the same. The English word for a type of spicy sausage often found in slices on the top of pizza in America, but rarely in Italy, is pepperoni. The Italian word for a vegetable, specifically for sweet peppers, is peperoni (plural of peperone meaning a sweet pepper). The use of "latte" in America is an abbreviation of “caffè e latte,” meaning - not surprisingly - “coffee and milk.” Have you heard of homonyms (pepperoni and peperoni are homonyms) and abbreviations? If not, a homonym is each of two or more words having the same spelling or pronunciation but different meanings and origins, and an abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or phrase.
@Nicamon4 ай бұрын
@@luminiferous1960 You've literally just made italysplaining to an Italian.🤦♂I know Americans added a P to peperoni(they don't pronounce double letters anyway so when they speak there's not much of a difference)but the point is...WHY?Pepperoni is _clearely_ a bastardized Italian word,NOT an English one and my question was _why_ did English speakers pick an italian word that indicates a vegetable and used it to refer to a completely different food?@.@ They already pronounce"salame"as its own plural which is _already_ confusing and frustrating but why don't call the spicy sausage"spicy salame"just like we do(technically we call it"little spicy salame")?Why call it with a vegetable name with a double P?? Again...I KNOW what caffelatte is,but in Italian it's _a single word_ and guess what,we *don't* abbreviate it because LATTE has its own meaning and if you ask for a LATTE in Italy they bring you MILK because that's LITERALLY what it means!!Keeping hearing people asking for"latte"when they actually mean"caffelatte"is super-confusing!!@.@ If they were so lazy they couldn't pronounce the whole word they could have called it C-Latte or something,at least they would have made it clear that it was an abbreviation(yes,surprisingly I know what an abbreviation is!😓)and not a completely different beverage that is only _half_ of the one they're talking about!!🤦♂

@@Nicamon I was explaining English to an Italian. Just because the words originated in Italy doesn't make them Italian. Through time and distance the original words were changed in their usage in English, which differentiates them from the original Italian. That's the way languages change and evolve over time with influences from other languages.
@luminiferous19604 ай бұрын
@@Nicamon According to a 2011 article by Julia Moskin for the New York Times, “Pepperoni: On Top," there is some debate over whether the English word pepperoni for the sausage originated with Italian immigrants to America or to Britain, but in either case it is an English word not an Italian word. It is thought that the sausage name pepperoni is a corruption of the Italian peperoncino, as in the little peppers used to impart heat and color to the salami, and does not trace its origin back to the Italian word peperone for a sweet pepper. Excerpt from the article: "What, exactly, is pepperoni? It is an air-dried spicy sausage with a few distinctive characteristics: it is fine-grained, lightly smoky, bright red and relatively soft. But one thing it is not: Italian. 'Purely an Italian-American creation, like chicken Parmesan,' said John Mariani, a food writer and historian who has just published a book with the modest title: 'How Italian Food Conquered the World'...The first reference to pepperoni in print is from 1919, Mr. Mariani said, the period when pizzerias and Italian butcher shops began to flourish here [America]. Evidently, the sausage name is a corruption of the Italian peperoncino, as in the little peppers used to impart heat and color to the salami. Digging a little deeper into my philological neuroses, I discovered that the earliest known printed reference to pep[p]eroni sausage actually dates back to 1888 (the year Nietzsche began to lose his mind) in the Times of London. This early mention of pepperoni in a list of types of dried sausage leads me to believe that pepperoni might not be an Italian-American invention but rather a food product that is Italo-Britannic in origin (something that is highly plausible). But I found an even more significant and telling mention in the United States government Yearbook of Agriculture for 1894 (published by the U.S. Government Printing Office), a mention that appears some 25 years before Mariani’s editio princeps. The author of the entry for sausage wrote the following: 'A mealtime and snacktime favorite of millions of Americans, sausages include a wide assortment of seasoned and processed meat products… Some sausages are dried during processing. Dried sausages like pepperoni, thuringer, and dry salmi are quite firm, very flavorful, and normally do not need to be refrigerated.'" Both the 1888 mention of pepperoni in the London Times and the 1894 mention of pepperoni in the U.S. government Yearbook of Agriculture occur after the first wave of Italian immigrants to America between 1820 and 1880. Therefore, it is not clear whether the word pepperoni first entered English in Britain or America, but it is clear that it was an English corruption of the Italian word peperoncino not peperone, because the Italian word for the spicy peppers used in the sausage was corrupted in English to mean the entire sausage rather than the particular ingredient of the sausage, and further corrupted to be spelled and pronounced as pepperoni without reference to the Italian word peperone. And that is why I said before that they are two different words, one, pepperoni, is an English word, and the other, peperone, is an Italian word, and they happen to have the same pronunciation, but different spellings, meanings and origins, i.e., they are homonyms.
