@@Tomy_Lightning Monkey King is an integral part of chinese culture, since Genshin is a chinese game, why can't they put a monkey into the game? Why are whales, dragons not a problem, but monkeys are? Even DragonballZ is based on the monkey king and that was a huge succes!

Also I think another thing worthy of note is that in the Chinese and Japanese version the Adepti are referred to as 仙人(Xiānrén/Sennin; “Fairy Immortals”), which makes them synonymous to the Xian (仙 “Taoist Immortals”). In Journey to the West, Sun Wukong, a monkey, is treated as equal to human beings in that he is able to achieve immortality through means of Taoist cultivation (thus becoming a Taoist Immortal) , which I guess is part of the reason why many Adepti have animal forms.

Great question. Long story short, Diona is apart of a race of people that happen to have some cat-like features. Sucrose isn't 100% sure why she has similar features, but has scientifically proven she's not the same as Diona. You could argue they are technically illuminated beasts, because there is some discrepancy on whether or not ALL "illuminated" beasts must have a vision because of some dialogue lines Madame Ping says, but you can think of them as something similar to Yanfei. They have beast-features because of their lineage, and though maybe they could be considered illuminated beasts especially because they have visions, they definitely aren't Adepti. I wish I included them in my video!

@@iamnumber4ization Well Adepti have to serve morax. So if you were from Mondstadt, were an illuminated beast and served morax, technically you would be an adepti too. The region is merely coincidental considering Adepti defend Liyue, so naturally they'd be from Liyue. Also, most of the Adepti existed since before Liyue existed, so we think of them as being from there, when in reality they existed far before its creation

Adepti is a title given by Morax for illuminated beasts who have sworn contracts to protect Liyue. Now, if for some reason Morax granted a contract to an illuminated beast who perhaps was to protect something else or whatever other stipulation, and he still gave them the title of "Adepti", then they wouldn't necessarily be exclusive to Liyue.

That would be "yaoguai" (妖怪/strange demon), adepti (仙人/xianren/immortal) are a bit different. While I think some yao can also be xian (like the fox spirit hulijing), for the most part, xian are more of a celestial being or lesser god.
