I'm Latina and I always go to the Ethnic/African-American/Multicultural aisle mainly because I have thick 3b/3c curly hair, so I'm choosing products specifically for my type of hair, and I think Latina covers such a broad range of hair textures, there's so much diversity that there's no such thing as stereotypical Latina hair. Because you can be Latina and have thin, fine straight hair to big voluptuous waves to big kinky curly hair..

I'm Latina (Puerto Rican) and I've never heard of Latina hair products. It seems kind of silly. My hair and my sisters hair are completely different textures. my oldest sister has straight/wavy hair. the second oldest has tight curls. the third oldest has wavy. I have thick and looser curls. the youngest has 4b type hair. We just buy products for our hair type. 3/5 of us use African or natural hair care products and the other two go for the "general" products (Pantene, tresemmé, Dove.) It's that mixed race tho lol

I'm Latino (salvadorian) and me and my brother have very different hair, he has wavy hair meanwhile I have very curly hair(3A in the front 3C/3B in the back), curly hair is actually not very common in El Salvador, most of us have very thick wavy or straight black hair, but I got the curly hair because of my mom. I think that hispanic hair is so diverse even within the same family because we are usually mixed, most salvadorians being half native american half southern european

I LOVE LA BELLA GEL FOR CURLS! As a Latina, I don't think that "Latina hair care products" are for "Latina hair" necessarily because they aren't any different. It's more of a "blast from the past" so that when 1st to 2nd generation Latino consumers see these products, they will feel compelled to buy them because they remember using them back in the day (given that their experience with the product is a positive one). I loved that ya'll did a video on this topic! Way to go!

Isn't "Latina hair" all different bc they're a black, white, brown, mixed race latinos so what's the point of having a shelf just for latinos like the ones with Afro decent can use black products and people with straight hair use the "normal/white" products

Yes, Latino is not a race, is WHERE are you from! Really third part of my country population is white, the other third is mixed and the third part is black and indigenous. Saying Latinos are a race is invisibilize that we have a lot of ethnic groups in our territory

Guuurl wtf is "latina hair products" ? I am puerto rican ( I'm very lightskin and ambiguous, and of african descent, I self ID as black in terms of the diaspora) and my family has always gone straight to the black hair care aisle because everyone in my immediate family except for my dad has thick big afro centric hair in the it is all a mix of 3b- 4c textures/ curl patterns, because , like ,we black... duh lol. I have never in my entire life heard of or seen a latina hair product aisle in my entire life n I live in central florida. This is crazy to me, I am truly gagged. lol

I just wanted to politely add that Spanish people are indeed Latin people as well, not just Latin Americans.Spanish people are Latin because much of Spain was colonized by Rome whose people spoke the language Latin. When the Romans colonized Spain their Latin language blended with the native languages to create different sorts of Creoles or hybrid languages, one of which was Castilian Spanish which is the type of Spanish that most Latin American types of Spanish are descended from. Latin Americans are called Latin because many of them have Spanish blood, speak Spanish and live in societies that were culturally influenced by the culture of Spain or Portugal.Any European country that speaks a language derived from Latin is also considered Latin, such as France,Romania, and of course Italy, the birthplace of Latin culture.
@zombiecartel13

Latin is a language, not a people. And even then Spanish may have Latin roots but so do other languages. I get what your trying to say Kat, but we are all one PEOPLE, one human race who are also biologically related to plants, animals, fungis. North Americans and South Americans are not Latinos or Hispanics, they are indigenous peoples. Latino and Hispanic are European colonizer terms used for all sorts of racist purposes

BadGirl RiRi It all depends on texture and brand. Some light girls will use "black hair product brands" with products designed for wavy to curly hair. Just like not everyone has straight hair, not everyone has 4c. Plenty of ethnic backgrounds fall in between those two, and most black owned brands create better products for that divide than mainstream brands (which make money off of women who don't know how to treat their hair).

I'm Latin American with a super curly hair texture, and grew up using products from a company called "Mirtas". It was a styling creme that was pretty popular when I was a kid. After I went natural I started using a Dominican conditioner called "crece pelo" which is really good for moisture and a bit of protein. A lot of Dominicans (amongst other latinas) have curly to kinky hair and create products specifically for those hair textures. It sucks that department stores have these tiny little Latin sections with very few products. The beauty supply stores in the "hood" I guess -_- ...have tons of Latin products and they're usually right by all the ethnic products because essentially we're all ethnic right? :-)

FINALLY! Someone else who knows about Mirta de Perales products! The small hood beauty supply stores along with major retailers around here no longer carry her products. My mom just opts to purchase them online now. :/ Most stores have shifted towards "natural" hair regimen lines driving out most other hair product lines in the process. The Mirta de Perales Hot Oil line is Castor Oil based and has been for years, and yet it somehow isn't marketed anymore? What appears to be in now are coconut oil, shea butter, argan oil and any number of other "natural" oils and butters. Mirtas even has a "natural" products line, but it hasn't gained much traction in that regard, because I suppose most Latinos see Mirtas as old fashioned and most Americans are unfamiliar with that line of products. Beyond the standard line, I highly recommend their Keratin line. It has worked really well for my mother when she used it.

I'm Latina and I use the Mirta de Perales hair masque. IDK if it's a "latina product" but it's always advertised in our media. I've fine, 2b hair almost down to my waist and it works fine. I use a variety of products from LUSH to Shea Moisture (they have a line for fine, curly hair :D which makes me so happy because most curl products are geared towards thick hair ) to Garnier... but I do wish we had more "latina products" that embraced our hair diversity.

I don't work currently, but I do keep up a license and I did/do hair for years so I needed to know as much as I can about all different types of hair. Our city is little but has a decent amount of diversity due to the airbase next to it, but not enough salons and barbershops that catered to the different types of hair. Even the curly haired Caucasian women had a hard time finding someone licensed to confidently do their hair. So I worked hard to educate myself for them all. I love that now I can cruise KZbin and internet reviews to easily and find out about new and older products! But I used to sit on the floor in the store and just read all of the bottles to find out about them, and ask my clients as many questions as I could many of them would even go to the store with me and tell me what they used. Please keep up the great & informational videos, I love this channel!

It's really hard to go natural as a Latina, mostly because straightening hair is like a routine. I started straightening my hair at the age of 4, yeah horrible I know, and I've been straightening my hair ever since. When I was younger, on rare occasions, I would leave my natural curly hair alone (my hair texture is a lot like Nikki's and I'm Dominican too). The products I would use would not be Latina hair products. I've used Cantu, Just For Me, and Shea Moisture. I guess the developers of the Latina products assume that all Latina hair is very easy to manage and my hair is definitely not. Thanks for reviewing these products. It was interesting to see another person's point of view

I agree with the "instead of buying hair care products of your heritage you should buy hair care products for your type of hair texture, "comment. That's so true I'm Dominican and have type 4c hair and As a child I used a lot of Latina products like mane n tail, Affirm, silicone, garlic shampoo, etc And these products want do nothing for my hair now. At the same time when I was little before I started to relax my hair, I had a type 4a hair. Now as I went back to natural, my hair is 4c and these products don't have the moisture needed to maintain Afro textured hair. Which sucks because Hispanic people have a variety of different hair types and the products in the Latina hair care system doesn't really capture ALL of the hair types.

I do use Latina hair products but more specifically Dominican products. There are a wide variety of treatments, shampoos and conditioners that are now being made without sulfate and more natural ingredients. I'm Puerto Rican and white, the Latina hair care section seems no different than regular hair care just in Spanish. Now my mom is Italian so my hair is curly but isn't afro-curly, and I find alot of Mexican women (my little sister is Mexican and Puerto Rican) have either straight or tameable curls. Mind you all Latinas are different and can have different hair types. & honestly haircuts are even dreadful because they wash your hair alot, and what they cut off when it's wet, is way more when dry. I definitely agree shop by what works for you and not your heritage.

I'm latina with curly/wavy hair. I try to use shampoo's that are sulfate free when if I'm wearing my hair straight and I protect it with heat damage protection (treseme). But I usually wear my hair natural(curly/wavy) So I make sure my hair stays healthy by doing a hair mask(coconut oil, avocado, egg) once a week and washing my hair with "No Poo" products and cold water. Since Latinas is not a race I think it all depends about your hair texture. Not all Latinas have that Salma Hayek hair were a melting pot.

I shop both by my hair type and my heritage. I am Dominican and Bahamian, having mainly 4a and b hair with a mixture of 3c. Most of my hair products like by treatments and leave in conditioners are Dominica products. I grew up with my Dominican mother who has used the products on my hair since day one and I love them and all of the benefits that come along with using them. All of the products are made of natural ingredients and I have found that these 'Latina' hair products work for many different hair types. They not only practice what they preach, but they are affordable and cater to the diversity of hair.

I'm a Latina with 3a/3b hair. I always usually shop in the Ethnic/ African-American/ multicultural section because although there are a lot of latinx people with curly hair, they never embrace it. So I can only ever find a few products out there that satisfy my curly hair needs. There is however, a leave in conditioner for "Rizos/curls" by the brand of "Reviva" that I found in an international grocery store around my way. It's not really for those that are staying away from parabens and silicones, but whenever I'm feeling lazy I just put a bit in my hair and it does wonders.

I’m Latina and I mainly just use black hair predicts because my hair is wavy-curly ranges from waves to ringlets lol it’s a mixture of a lot, very thick, and dry. I messed around and found out that the black hair products work really well, now of course I don’t use quite as many as y’all but it’s defiantly significantly more than someone with more Caucasian hair. I use like some Jamaican oil curl cream and some spray in scalp treatment plus conditioner. It’s helps a lot because my hair was straight then it got curly and I didn’t know what to do with it for a long time. It’s still getting curlier as I’m rather young. Latin American hair can very so much it’d be really difficult to pinpoint and make products from them, you got to remember we are all very much mixed race. There is a lot of Native American heritage (really thick course straight hair), from Spaniard heritage and then black heritage. Just about everyone’s mixed and for generations mixed people have been marrying mixed people so you can have one sibling who pops out with an Afro and then other has stick straight Native American hair. You never really know 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve seen it all lol.

I'm African American with naturally coily hair and YES I use "Latina Hair Products". I personally use Moco De Gorila snot gel. "Snot gel" initially through me off at first lol but I heard good reviews about it. It lays my hair down very well. Its stronger than ECO gel. It gets SUPER hard but it works lol. I want to try the LA BELLA GEL next. Matter fact, I use ALL TYPES including main stream (EUROPEAN PRODUCTS) as well. My hair can pretty much handle most products to be honest. I use which ever fits my budget lol.

For my curly to wavy Latina hair, I tend to use a lot of the products in the African American aisle. I live in downstate, IL, so there are not a lot of hair care products for my specific hair type, which is super dry, but not as curly as my Afro-Cuban sisters. What it seems to do for me is to make my hair nearly straight, but that is way better than curly-frizzy for me!

I'm Mexican. One of the first products I thought of that they sell in the USA is not what you might think. It's called Manzanilla and it's for blond-ish hair and it's meant to lighten hair. It's by Grisi and I think it was one of the first Latina products sold in the USA. You'd be surprised how light brown dark blond latinas there are out there.

Im Mexican and use hair wrap, leave in hair cream and a bit of hair oils to protect my natural curls. I also wear my wrap after a shower so it can air dry. And i get all this from the African Americans section too. I also use the latina hair products as well.

I use a blend of many different lines geared toward different hair textures, but for the most part I use higher-end products due to a perm. A few to name Kiehl's, Moroccan Oil, Biolage (to name a few), but I also bought a Taliah Waajid product recently which I really like, the scent is heavenly and leaves my hair feeling soft and never sticky. I also bought a BGLH Marketplace product: shea butter and mango butter which helps to add that extra moisture if I ever need it. I just love quality products which is what I am alway on the hunt for.

I'm Latina but I never gave much thought into Latina hair care products. Since my hair is naturally straight I don't do much to it. It's shampoo, condition or use hair gel to keep my baby hairs in place for a sleek ponytail or something. This video is pretty accurate.

I know this probably isn't relevant anymore, but the pepper and rosemary shampoo is meant for thick black, straight or maybe wavy hair. The pepper helps with the growth of your hair and with the rosemary it doesn't fall off as much.

Growing up on the border (I'm half white and half Mexican but have 3c curls), my sister and I used the chile shampoo and the horse conditioner. Both are to promote hair growth! :) but I've never discovered curly hair products in the Latina section or in Mexico. I tend to gravitate towards the ethnic/multicultural section so that I can properly hydrate my curls 💁🏻

I'm "Latina" and the only hair product I use is I wash my hair in the morning with herbal essences shampoo (the red one that is pomegranate scented just because I like the smell) that's it because my hair is oily and any other shampoo just feels weird and I've always gotten compliments on my long straight black hair (my nickname used to be Pocahontas lol) and I get asked what I do to keep my hair that way all the time but that's just how it's always been. Also Jalapeño scented shampoos have always been popular in Mexico also don't use the ones that say manzanita or manzanilla that lightens your hair and turns you hair's tips a yellow color. It's popular in Mexico for some reason it turns babies' hair a light brown color.

I've always lived in a Dominican neighborhood being that I'm Dominican so I don't know any of the brands they showed in this video. I have curly hair and I can go around to any beauty supply store where I live and find tons of products. Everything here is mixed so it's not like there's a specific section for ethnic or Latina hair. It's based on price. But as a Dominican woman I know that we have deep conditioners, shampoos, conditioners, gels, and more specifically for curly hair.

I'm a latina and tbh if it weren't for the curly hair movement and community showing how to take care of curly hair I would have a perm by now because I hated my hair. I use some of the shampoos that are in the latino section like Grisi- negro (which kept my hair super dark) and another that I forgot that name of. Other than that I tend to use other products meant for my hair texture. Being fully Mexican (which honestly means I can be mixed with anything at this point) it sucks not to see things for my hair in my community that often. :/ I stand out a lot sometimes...

A lot of "latina" haircare products aren't very curly inclusive simply because back in the day, straight hair was good hair. A lot of the products are loaded up with silicone and are geared to help your hair look sleek and straight when flat ironing. Now with more latinas embracing their curls and breaking away from relaxers and other chemical straightening products, I identify latina hair care as products from latin owned businesses like Rizo's Curls.

I'm half Puerto Rican (my hair texture reflects that) and I never know what to use for it. Most of the ethnic section is too thick and moisturizing for my hair but the "white" section is SO drying. Plus a lot of those products are bad for your hair anyways. I've been trying out the Cantu curl custard diluted with some water but I have to rinse it out at the end of everyday because my hair starts flaking.

I didnt know i had wavy 2b type hair till i was 16/17 growing up i went to catholic school my hair to be short and my das brushes it straight alot. For guys the expectation is combed with brush back short hair styles that are businessy. I would say for puerto ricans the only hair producta that i reaally know that are used often by puerto ricans is moco se gorilla gel, and garnier fructus hair products like conditioners and shampoos. for reference i have thick hair that is heavy and gets frizzy, which is only apparent in like some puerto ricans for their type of hair
