What are Marriott annual choice benefits and which should you choose?

Suite night award is only on paid nights which do not include non-refundable advance purchases. So basically, you have to first pay a premium rate in cash, in order to see if you can get the “free” upgrade

There are indeed problems using Nightly Upgrade Awards (formerly called Suite Night Awards) with non-refundable advance purchase bookings. But they can also be used for award stays booked with points or free night certificates, not just paid stays.

I''ll be lifetime platinum in two more years, but I am going to be behind with elite nights, I am going to try to do 10 nights with Marriott to got those 5 elites night at the 50 night stays. Unfortunately, I don't have the right combinations of cards to get the the extra 15 that would would give me 15 extra elites nights.

That makes sense. A couple years ago, I thought I would be in a similar situation to you but I got a lot of elite nights in 2021 and 2022 which means my years of platinum and total nights should now reach the thresholds at around the same time.
