Was an Indy fanboy for YEARS until I tried thunders on a board that had lost its pop and they basically revitalized the deck for another 2 weeks. They don't have the same heft as indys, but I find them more reliable for a boards longevity (i.e. no ghost pop). I still have like 5 sets of indys but these thunders have been going strong for a year now and I haven't felt like returning anytime soon.

Aces be´cause it gives the most play out of your truck. Best turn, best lean. Indys feel like I can turn one truck at a time and it screws me up, Aces turn more symmetrically or are more coordinated if that's the right word

I even bent them learning flatground ollie (im 150lbs). After ive tried 149 hollow and ace 44. Both are cool, ace are heavy (i dont like this) but turn was amazing initially. Bushings stiffened after initial brake in, and they became another indy. I hope they will be soft again. Indy 149 are great, its like more stable 144. Ive even tried 149 titanium, but felt no difference with hollow (but checked 20g weight diff on scales). All above from the beginner viewpoint. I’ve landed kickflip once )
@apexscape4 жыл бұрын
kinda doesn't matter at beginner level.. you can honestly skate anything but if it gives you confidence, by all means. save your $ keep a consistent setup if you like but focus more on technique & form: jumping on top of board, lifting back feet up after you snap, & a good ollie....and getting hurt.
@johncoleman73082 жыл бұрын
At your current level of skating, differences in gear don’t matter much. But I will say, it’s unlikely that an axle would bend from a flat ground ollie. I weigh more than you and regularly skate gaps (with thunders) around 5 ft high or taller with no issues. In fact I’ve never bent an axle from any brand come to think of it. If this was caused by a manufacturer defect, DLX customer service and warranty is excellent. They stand firmly behind their product.

I tried so many times to ride thunders. I have owned Indy 149 hollows as well in addition to bullet trucks. All I can say is I ALWAYS go back to Indy 144 standards. I like how they are roomy for stability when grinding and hillbombing and skating ramps...but they don't really get any significant wheel bite (at least for me) because you can have them fairly tight and they still turn well because indys have a nice gentle carve to them. They manual nicely for me. My manuals are definitely better with Indys than thunders. At the same time, although I can do some tricks better on thunders, I don't do ALL of my tricks better on thunders and when I start skating thunders I run into wheel bite problems. So Indys are more consistent overall which to me is the most important.

I love Ace and Indys. It depends on the deck and wheelbase for me. I know some will say well the Aces are technically indy because they are stage IIIs but the name on those trucks is ACE not Independent Truck Co. Both have been the absolute best trucks that I've skated hands down. I will change decks and wheels before I change out trucks when trying different setups (Not because I'm cheap) because I just love the way they feel, the position of the hanger, the way they grind and carve. They are literally perfect for what I like to feel when I skate. I have 3 setups. I don't necessarily ride just one. Sometimes I skate something for a month, wake up one day and just want to go to something new. I have a small setup of 8.0(Couldn't find 7.75 at the time, which is what I really wanted), it didn't feel good with ACE 33s so I went to Indy 139s. My "vert" or my 80s throwback setups are both ACE because they turned and carved better with the larger wheelbase and position of the axles.

I'm loving the Hollow Indys 144 with the regular baseplate 😍
@palleh77424 жыл бұрын
Why is hollow better?
@MrLK974 жыл бұрын
@@palleh7742 it's just a bit lighter. It's not better it just has a lighter pop feel.

A perfect pop shiv is my favorite trick and that was nice.

On 149 Indy hollows with a quarter inch riser pads, the bushings fell apart but that’s due to the 100 degree weather from April til sept in Texas

My FAVORITE are 169 indy titanium lights. but for my smaller boards i have 149 indy standards and 149 thunder team lights and i just love them both. If i HAD to pick id go Indy but thunders are so good for pinch.

I knew you were gonna say Indys. Thunder is the brand I always go back to. Every other brand has distinct feel. Thunders feel neutral to me.

Raw thunder 149s were my first set of real trucks andare always my go to. Also tried venture and indy. Hated the ventures. The indys were pretty great though.

do you think its possible to hitchhike in spain right now? i am going to start a skatetrip from germany next week
@TheAlfone14 жыл бұрын
@@InfinityGamerHDx too risky right now I'd say. Madrid and Spain is getting infected again, and you are forced to wear a mask at any place. Maybe you get lucky though

Hopefully you're grateful. I'm an East coast skater. Got to deal with cold and bad weather. NJ, NY ain't like it is at where you skate.

I'm riding Thunders with bushings from Indy. Not too sure what the bushing hardness is but I love the set up.

Thunders in the back kurks in the front. Cause I broke one of each. Used to like grind kings but around 15 years old I broke them about as often as I broke boards. My buddy offered me some indys never own a pair but looking forward to being about to Smith again without the 50% chance of getting locked up.

My favourite also. I’ve decided I’m not a fan of the forged baseplate thing. I feel. Like I’ve skated best on 144’s with an 8.38 or 8.25
@wa2d10l94 жыл бұрын
Ride them till they are in useable that will be a really sick vid “I broke my indys!!” It will also be interesting if you skate a decks it it’s un rideable

Indy guarantees new trucks if you manage to break them

I always snap my axles from landing primo or wobble out the mounting holes which is my fault hahha. I wish I could keep a pair long enough to get grooves but it hasn't happened in 18 years of skating

Indys changed my skating for the better. I missed out on them for so long bc I thought they were overrated heavy & expensive.

I've heard people say that before, then they try them and find them stable, durable and reliable.

would love to see you try a symmetrical board witb fresh trucks , with the board having the same nose and tail makes it so you wouldnt need to have a designated front and back truck , and i think seeing the wear on trucks used as both front and back would be interesting

I knew it lol! Indy basher lolol! I started on indy's in the early 90's then switched to venture as they were lighter. I still love indy's though fo sho xx

I got Royal Mids for 8,5 decks... my favorite trucks. I like Ventures and Tensors, but I prefer the large Royal Mids. 💯

i like the Theeve tiax and csx trucks, destructo d2s were good, tensor mag response lows are my favorite though.
