Post-viral seizures or post-infectious seizures, commonly occur during or shortly after a viral infection, particularly when the brain is inflamed. We should also differentiate between acute seizures that occur during the initial infection and those that develop later, as the latter may indicate a persistent dysfunction in the brain.
We should also distinguish between true seizures and pseudo-seizures, which can appear similar but have different underlying causes. Pseudo-seizures, often labeled as psychogenic or functional seizures, should not be dismissed as being "all in the head" and instead require a thorough investigation into the underlying dysfunction.
We can easily diagnose post-viral seizures using EEG and brain imaging. This will tell you if you need medications to first fight off a lingering infection or if it is a dysfunction in the brain.

First of all thanks so much for your incredibly informative and helpful videos. Having watched a few now and linking things with my own experience of trying to manage POTS it’s prompted me to think about creating my own treatment plan if I can! I’ll need help from some neuro books I have but I’ve reached the point where over here in the UK many practitioners don’t know what POTS is and when needing emergency care I’ve been treated as though I’m having a mental health crisis which couldn’t be further from the truth. Having just watched your video about the neck in relation to dysautonomia and other systems I wondered if you might have some thoughts about the following. For about 7 years now I’ve been experiencing episodes which I’ve described as seizure-like. Th3 pattern is always the same ie my head will rotate to the left and strongly pull down to my shoulder. It’s very uncomfortable, sometimes painful. At the same time I will have vocalisations - not words - sounds and my eyes will tightly shut with each contraction. I can have spasms in my left shoulder and arm too. Usually these will only last a few minutes but I had a sort of cluster of episodes a few weeks ago which was triggered by a dentists light shining in my right eye. As one episode seem to relax and I thought it had finished it began again. I had about 5 of these at the dentist lasting around 30 minutes. I was taken to hospital. I had another in ambulances and another in Emergency dept at hospital. Prior to that day I had been in bed for 2 weeks with a chest infection/virus. This hasn’t happened before where these very forceful spasms have continued. Anyway, I discovered last week that diphenhydramine/Benadryl totally nips these episodes in the bud which is such a relief. Apologies this is long - just trying to give a bit of a background before asking a specific question. So, along with the episodes I’ve described I also experience strong head spasms to the left, forwards and backwards, vocalisations, tightly clenched eyes, dizziness and nausea with some of the classic POTS related triggers ie when reaching up into a cupboard, doing too much physically, taking a shower, being in/looking at bright lights and flashing lights, washing up, standing up for too long etc. there might only be one brief head spasm or vocalisation - sometimes there’s more - sometimes it’s a pre-curser to the more prolonged episodes I described at the start. So, after seeing your video about the neck - I’m wondering do you think these physical reactions could be a secondary symptom directly related to POTS? I’m not looking to you for a diagnosis here, I’m just wondering with the different systems reacting to what seem to be due to orthostatic stress and intolerance It feels a bit like the opposite of what you described about the neck?? I’m trying to understand (in laymen’s terms!) the processes in the brain and dysfunction in nervous system that could also create the muscles to react in the way they are. If there’s a lack of oxygen reaching the brain in POTS then is there also an oxygen deficit to muscles of the body when a body is struggling with dysautonomia and that kind of disregulation? I hope this makes sense. Thanks very much and thanks again for your amazing videos 🙏

I have ben suffering from a severe case of vestibular dysfunction. I get random pushing and shoving sensations that actually move my body. Not one person can figure of what this is, it is like a ghost is in the room pushing me. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I am looking into the Doctor I believe you said he is is Yardley I have a EEG for a week and have such horrible disequilibrium but nothing showed up
