I think i found something interesting with Bomberman. Go to Smashville and throw a bomb toward the walls under the ledge, the bomb will get stuck there and keep rolling, so it becomes an infinite hitbox until you either make it explode or the enemy gets hit by the bomb and it falls off. However, if you hit the ledge or too low under the wall it won't work, it also has to be a foward bomb throw as far as i have tested, since the up/down/normal throw doesn't seem to get the bomb stuck on the wall. It's an incredible edgeguard option, so much that i'm not even sure if it should be patch'd out. (sorry for bad english, not a native speaker)

since i used to use a keyboard but that was at school i have a button mapping suggestion for those who are using a Ps3-4 or xbox controller (for me i use controls that are similar mapped on gamecube and 3ds controls and i mainly use the d pad to move but the con about it is that youll auto dash even without having to double tap or having auto dash on or maybe controller could be slight broken but its up to you to judge that) heres the buttons i have mapped for the DS3 controller: button2=square button-jump button3=triangle button-jump button1=circle button- attack button0=x button- special (BN 1 and 0 can be swapped your choice) button4=L1 trigger-grab button6= select-taunt (may not be useful but your choice or can use AX2- witch is R2 trigger) button7=start button=witch is the pause button obviously or you can use button6= select (again your chopice) button5=R1 trigger- shield AX2+=L2 trigger-shield Movement= i mainly use Dpad but if you want use left analog stick C Trigger= AX3-=R trigger UP AX3+=R trigger Down AX4-=R trigger Left AX4+=R trigger Right Hope this helps you guys confortably play ^-^

1:14 I should have said this earlier, but that clips is used quite out-of-context to prove a point. I keyboarded-clawed the GameCube in the clip to more show how ergonomic it is to do so than on other controllers. And Multi-Shine is much easier in this game than it is in Melee or PM, so doing it on controller is no sweat to begin with. 1:25 And both Jab-Dash and Slide off Ledge needles/special are possible without the need to press Left+Right. So they are possible and not too difficult to do on controller.
@BowlerSSF27 жыл бұрын
How is slide off needles possible on controller? You need to hold both left and right to do it, and if your using a standard controller that's not possible to do. Also even if both techs are possible, the point was that there is keyboard specifc tech, if you want another example, both zelda and sheik can preform a up special in place by holding left and right at the same time, and I'm pretty sure that's impossible on controller.
@Zalozis7 жыл бұрын
You just Dash-Cancel and do neutral-special.Tap-forward then flick to down-forward. Same with Dash-Jab. Left+Right is essentially a neutral-input, and Dash-Cancel resets to neutral, so it accomplishes the same thing.
@zabalyro68657 жыл бұрын
Bowler, earlier in your channel, you did special "techs" in ssf2, if you mind being able to do another one like that because I think I might have found something. Also do you have a Discord so I can contact easier, because I plan on finding more things like this.
@Lucas-dj4qj7 жыл бұрын
I use arrow keys to move, z as special, x as attack, c for shield, d and v for jump, a for grab, s for dash, shift for up smash (I only use up smash as a c stick option cause it makes falling up airs easier to do), auto dash off, tap jump on.
@Cephonster7 жыл бұрын
One thing I don't like about the keyboard controls is that it's hard to use grab and shield without looking at the keyboard for 1 sec

Try putting shield-key right next to attack-key, That way your fingers rest on both and you can just press them together for a grab when you need it.

So I have a problem with keyboards, if I am sharing one keyboard with 2 players, some of the inputs get dropped. Is the sharing a reason, or is it the settings? Also, how do I set up keyboard controls for both players with the same inputs but with different characters in case I have 2 keyboards?
@Zalozis7 жыл бұрын
Non-gaming keyboards tend to have 'keystroke limits': several shared motherboard sections to help make keyboards cheape and use less electricity, but only allows for a few keys to be pressed at once just for typing and simple commands. Play on seperate keyboards connected to the same PC so that both players get independent keystroke limits on their controls. Older keyboards tend to have wider limits that allow for more keystroke to be pressed aswell.

I have a question. When using a keyboard, how do I execute tilts more consistently. On a gamecube controller, the analog stick allowe you to actually tilt the stick and input a tilt, but a keyboard is just buttons.

the only thing with keyboard is that i find it really hard to use a c stick, i can't find a comfortable position for it and it's really hard to actually use. Everything else is easier/better on keyboard minus a few small things but c-stick is a big issue imo.
@ProlificPops7 жыл бұрын
I agree. I have that same problem but I'll try out different keys for it to see if I can find what's most comfortable for me. It should be easier now with all the improvements the game has gotten since beta dropped.
@Zalozis7 жыл бұрын
Don't stress to much about using C-stick. Most top-players only C-stick UP for Jump-Cancel Smashes, Short-Hop Fast-fall Uair. Because Keyboard's precision can easily input smashes and directional keys can do Smash DI, you really don't need the whole C-stick mapped on it..
@xalex35977 жыл бұрын
i use all the C-stick buttons. up:T down:S left:F right:H dunno if im the only one, but thats just me, i find it comfortable
@drevis77047 жыл бұрын
Are you sure? I come from the smash 4 scene and in most smash games using the c-stick is useful for spacing aerials more effectively and I don't think it's any less of a thing in ssf2. Of course you could easily do so with a controller but with keyboard I can't use that effectively. Ofc keyboard brings more advantages to the table as said in this video so I guess it balances out, but at least in other smash games I love my c-stick.
@xalex35977 жыл бұрын
yup, it may sound weird but im comfortable with it, i dont use the c-sticks too much though, i only have them for some situations. example, dash -> up smash (fox, luigi). the rest of my controls are default set. i also use tap jump, and d-tap dash, it sounds probably annoying but i like it, just my playstyle.

I use a separate jump button (no up jump). I feel this is pretty well used because of the easier uptilt and having one more button to take care of isn't an issue. But I use auto dash and I will try to make a case with it. How I see it is that auto dash leads to basically covering more area and being faster at the same time. Basically auto dash allows you to start dash quicker and not auto dash allows you to start walking quicker. I feel there is more power to dashing faster. You can dash grab and dash attack immediately after you dash, and doing so allows you to cover ground in one way or the other. Now yes it is harder to side tilt but I find I don't have many uses for side tilt and if I need to I can just already hold the walk button as I enter it. Double tapping takes time and sometimes one tap can be eaten (like if I am in hitstun or have minor lag) and I can't risk that. To grab ledge you can dash and slow down by sliding (hold left and right) and grab ledge, works with every character I've tried. To grab ledge right next to ledge you can't do that but holding the walk button isn't that bad there. To summarize, there are many more times I want to start a dash than a walk, and I need to dash quickly a lot.

That's not the only advantage keyboard has over controller, One of the main advantages that a keyboard has over the controller is input efficiency, the ability to have one finger per key allows for you to have a higher technical ability in the game than you probably would with a controller where a single finger accounts for many buttons.

Any controller with 2 thumb sticks works. The number 1 issue is the tap jump with a controller online. For local play with actual controller. Tap jumps works, but soon as you go online, tap jump doesn't work. You have to Frankenstein your controller to force it to work correctly online. The trick is keeping the controller options on keyboard only. Then use a program called World of joysticks to make your game controller emulate a keyboard. Here's a bonus tip. If you're tired of writing your password and hosting room name. Get autohotkey and use 2 keys you never touch in game just to make macros to auto login. Autohotkey is simple. Here's a demo for a auto login script. b:: send password123 return In this demo script. B key will not work anymore. It will only write password123 everytime you press B. That's why it's important you only use keys you don't touch while gaming. Or if you prefer to use controller inputs as macros you would use the word Joy with a number. Example: Joy10:: send password123 return Your xinput or dinput button will write password123 everytime you press Joy button 10. Frankenstein a controller with world of joysticks and autohotkey is the only best option. Now for perfect online everytime you play. Keep the display resolution on either 640x360 or 512x288. 640x360 is good enough but I prefer using 512x288 with 50fps interlaced. Low resolution makes the internet strongest as possible. Using interlaced frames helps as well because it's way less frames. 50 interlaced frames is 25fps going through the internet pipeline. 60 interlaced is 30fps going through the internet pipeline. 360p or 288p are the strong resolutions for online only. 288p is a bit blurry but you won't have any online issues. The only way to create these 2 display resolutions is using a program called Custom Resolution utility. Make your resolution, restart the computer and go to the recommended resolution. 360p or 288p opens the internet pipeline wide open for best online experience. 1080p or 4k will keep this game laggy everytime online. It's too much data to handle for this game.
