great video. i’m a subscriber on both channels. 2 vital things are missing: 1. larger sample size. only 5 shots with each shaft isn’t enough to make a good decision on changing shafts. maybe more shots were hit off camera? hitting steel Fibre first cold definitely can throw off the data. 2. dispersion wasn’t even looked at. the AXIOM shafts selling point is accuracy. never compared the dispersion circles. sometimes eliminating a fat shot can make a difference

I've changed (75 y.o.) from KBS graphite shaft 60s in my irons to Mitsu Vanquish 50s; reg flex 6-9, stiff for gap and p wedges. The Vanquish graphite shafts were designed in conjunction with some LPGA players. They have a softer tip with higher launch and a few more yards carry. The KBS graphites launched lower and would tend to run through the greens where I play. I use the Fuji Axiom 105s stiff flex in my sand and lob wedges. As an aside, I replaced the 2R flex graphite 40 gm shaft in my Callaway Smoke Fast driver with a Mitsu K Carbon Tensei ($350.) 50 gm R flex. I also replaced the 4 gm weight in the head with a 10 gm weight and grip to a Winn midsize. Swing weight now D2 at 45.75 inches in length (at 47" SW was D8! Err by tech). This change has given me 10-15% more distance and much better dispersion. The shafts are truly the engines of the clubs.

I was fitted into T200 irons with Fujikura Pro 95 graphite shafts last year. It took a little time to get used to the swing weight difference, but I've noticed I'm hitting the ball farther and my hands and elbows don't hurt from hitting off my simulator mat anymore. And like others have said, get ready to hear the comments about being an old man because you play them. Even though my SS is 110+
@canyonaro9 ай бұрын
Only an old man would call anyone an old man for playing graphite these days. The stiffest shafts you can buy are the LA Golf shafts that Dechambeau uses. I still have my irons in Modus 105 but every other shaft in my bag is graphite, including the putter. Didn't get along with Steelfibers when I had them. They were designed to play almost exactly like dynamic gold & I never got along with DG.

Sticking to my old TT Black Golds, match my swing perfectly. When I finally do upgrade my irons, I'll probably swap these shafts over. Tried several graphite shafts over the years, just couldn't find consistency with my aggressive attack and late release. Certainly wouldn't be dishing out over $100usd/club for iron shafts, my game isn't that serious.

I just had steel fiber I95 shafts put on my Taylor made stealth clubs and I’m waiting for the chicago weather to warm up so I can play them. At the indoor ranges, I’m seeing a tighter dispersion and a little bit of more distance when I am hitting pure.

Although F=MA, one must have enough acceleration in order to move the mass, hence why most fitters use swing speed to decide whether the player should buy heavy / light shafts, and whether the flex should be regular or stiff. As I've gotten older, my swing speed has gotten a little slower. Have 95S shafts now but considering lighter or the same weight in graphite to dampen the vibration.

Beware of some of the franchise fitters as I had friends that got fitted with no lie angle done on the finished clubs, etc. I found an independent guy Greg at Gott Golf in Denver that was much better, really looked at my swing instead of just the data. Many friends have since gone there and All have been very satisfied. Shafts make such a huge difference I can't imagine buying off the shelf ever again.

@@JL-ho1tc agree. When I'm at the range, I often work on short and long irons and rarely use driver anymore. I admitted to myself long ago that driver is cool the few times it goes long and straight. @@TraumaER a lot of times i play a strong 3 wood off the tee instead of a driver.. I hit 3 woods 260 and straighter than drivers that i hit 280.... I hit my hybrid like a frozen rope 230 staight down the pipe.. So playing 3 wood, Hybrid i shoot at least as good as if im playing driver, iron.. Accuracy is definitely more important than distance.. UNLESS we're talking about Bryson distance.. That's just a different way to play golf..
@TraumaER9 ай бұрын
@@JL-ho1tc agree 1000%. I found that I hit farthest and straightest with my hybrid (around 200 yds if I get it right). That is enough for me to play golf that is fun for me. I didn't play golf at a young age so learning the mechanics is a lot harder. I just found that the flexibility of the driver shaft causes so much variation for me overall. When I hit it right, it goes long and straight. However, the other times makes me hate golf LOL. Yeah the PGA golf is a different level. They are looking to hit it far as getting it on the green as quick as possible is the name of the game. But yeah my favorite clubs are Hybrid, mid Irons, and maybe a steel shaft 3W if I am feeling lucky. I don't even take my driver to the range at the moment. Waste of practice time for me.
