I've had the Sennheiser HD201's for almost a year now (had 'em since January) and they've served me well. Never had any problems with them. Would like to point out that they are REFERENCE headphones so they have a flatter sound signature by design. That's why I got them. Planning to upgrade to the Status Audio CB-1's by the end of the year.

I had the HD201 for 5 years or so, until the cable broke on me. Still worth it though for $20. However I couldn't wear them for long. As was mentioned in the video, the inside of the ear cup does touch your ear, and after a while it starts to hurt. That was my main issue with these.

Just some suggestions: 1.Not sure, but burning in headphones is a good idea before testing. 2.Souncloud is a horrible format of testing. The files are not very high quality. 3.Phones are also not good. To get accurate testing, you need an amp to give a good baseline.

2. Good headphones actually make bad audio format sound worse because you can hear all those compression destroying the clarity. Senn is at a disadvantage here. In spite of this, Senn still wins. 3. Not every headphone require amping. The headphones in test are relatively low impedance so amping it would make much difference. It's stupid to buy an dedicated amp for this budget headphones anyway. Dedicated DAC is more appropriate here.

It's 2021 and I'm still rocking the HD 201's, that I purchased in March of 2012. Yes, that's right... almost 10 years of daily use! They are light and the sound quality is really good! I replaced the padding last year and they were almost like new, but soon after I noticed that the headband is on the verge of breaking. I'm on the hunt for a new pair of headphones. I want to go wireless but I'm not gonna lie: I'm also seriously considering getting the HD 206, a slightly updated version of the 201. That's how good the bang for the buck is with these headphones.

I bought senn hd 202 pros 12 yrs ago as an impulse buy for $60 I think, from circuit city (remember them). Mostly neutral in highs and mids and slightly elevated lows. Not much clarity obviously and muffled but no distortion in bass. Slightly less fatiguing then beats. Had fun times playing half life 2, call of duty and battlefield . But the faux leather from them does start flaking off after some yrs. and that is the slightly upgraded Model I guess, but I thought I'd throw in my views anyway.

Which would you say is better, the Sennheiser HD 202's or the 201's? Or is there a better model around? I'm thinking about getting a cheaper pair of headphones than my current pair (the Status Audio CB-1's) so that I don't have to worry about breaking them. My current headphones are the most expensive ones I've bought, which isn't saying much for some people, but I'd like to keep them in working order for as long as possible.

I have the HD201's and some $179 Bose Soundtrue headphones and they were both pretty awesome for the price! But then I got the Monoprice 8323's for $15.99 just because they were cheap yet for some reason praised for great sound quality. I was really surprised because not only do the 8323's sound better than the 201's, they sound almost as good as the Soundtrues! You will not regret getting them, I admit it is made of full black plastic but they look like the kind of studio headphones people use for making music. (P.S. They are little more on the Bass side of things too which made it even better for me) But these definitely are not the most comfortable headphones... to make them more comfortable keep the headphone stretched over the box the headphones came in over night to stimulate you breaking in the headphones on your head! I would recommend these headphones to basically anyone who wants awesome sound at an almost unreal price

+Seven Xiaomi pistons are generally okay for casual listening. But if you are listening to .FLAC files or other high res audio, the Xiaomi pistons suck. Earpieces like the audio Technica ATH-IM50 (I'm using them) have two drivers, meaning better sound and stuff like that. earpieces over $50 will definitely sound better depending on the music you listen to. Sound is subjective and you guys may not think the same way I do, so do try out the earpieces over $50 for yourselves and decide if they are worth it. I will recommend the Audio Technica ATH-IM50 as a earpiece for any of you interested.

A lot of cheaper headphones just boost low frequencies beyond ridiculous amounts which makes them sound as if you are listening through a pillow or something... I've used HD201 for quite some time and can definitely recommend them for their price. One important thing which is often left out of reviews is that the ear cups can turn horisonally as well as vertically. Even a lot of high-end headphones don't have horisontal adjustment. And of course over ear design is just superior to on-ear. One thing to note though is that on these particular headphones the low frequancies are lacking, which can be a problem if you listen so metal or electronic music, so you would probably need to adjust for that with the equaliser, by default they definitely won't sound right.

I see these Sennheisers a lot in the street. I guess they are kind of popular. They just look so dull to me, though. I would wear something like that when I'm in front of the computer at home may be. For outside I like to strike a good balance between looks and sound quality. If you're looking to replace the earbuds that came with your phone I'd recommend you step it up a bit. I'm not saying spend $300 on headphones but may be raise it to 50 at least. There are plenty of good choices withing the $100 range too.

Senheiser 202 is better but it is not comfortable for hours of usage. But I would suggest go for a little expensive headphone. May be Beyerdynamic 770 80 ohm or ATH m50 x. Sonys are always a little bassy. So, head for it if u think they r good for. 😊
