Thanks for adding these clips. KZbin has becoming more meaningful. Favorite PMD quote paraphased " The bicep curl of the mind is returning your thought to stillness during meditation".

People on keto will generally fail the OGTT unless they carb load for about 3 days prior to the test. Even then, that suggestion is only from n=1 reports. It would be nice to know if the readings have any utility whatsoever if taken when in ketosis. Some Doctors suggest taking the standard blood lipid panel in the fed state instead of 12-14 hours fasted, so I think that would also be a good topic to discuss.

It's an act of Congress for me to get my physician to do any test out-of-the-ordinary metabolic panel. There's no way in hell my doctor is going to run those tests even if I pay out-of-pocket.

You would have to order the tests you want from one of the websites like walkinlabs.com and then go to a LabCorp or Quest location for the blood test. Or else go to a functional medicine doctor. Most traditional doctors are worthless for getting the useful tests.

I just got a special call back from my PCP who read me the riot act after I asked for an ApoB test. "I hope this is not going to start a trend of you asking for random tests which are not evidence based!" Next he tells my wife that an LDL-C of 203 is too low to start a statin. Telehealth here we come?

Upfront, I am well insured and with that said-if your provider is hospital owned or affiliated (managed) they will resist. My independent non-affiliated provider did these and cost me $50. I felt I wanted a baseline to be established and will do them bi-yearly or as needed. He uses LabCorp, took awhile but all good, hope this helps you to partner with your Provider.

. Agree I have been using Walk in Labs for 6 years... Like NMR, Apo B, Apo(a), fasting insulin. Then I take results to my appts: Cardiologist, Neuroligust, etc They don't get bothered by this if they are good doctors.

PA MD , do you take your own blood? Post a KZbin vid, not that people should do it but it would be inspiring which sounds weird but I hate needles even though my brother was a Ucla Board Certified Internist. Love the info. Keep it coming.
