Although let me list things that are beyond preferences. Blues - You absolutely HAVE to be alone, those fucking things are annoying. Unless if you hate people, it doesn't matter if you're comfortable with them. It's basically playing an electric guitar in a small apartment. Browns - Amazing all around, the tactility might feel annoying. Reds - Very light and responsive, Might also be a little inconveniencing because I'm used to linear switches and i sometimes click on accident because of how light they are.

The mainly mistake with people (including myself) when they are about to buy a mechanical keyboard being a newbe at the topic they normally go all in with a blue switches because of the sound and the clicky sensation.. And yeah it is cool and all, but at the moment to play something it becomes to be annoying, you gonna miss so many things at a high bpm or having low tapping accuracy in rhythm games.. It could be better at average shooter games because it prevets you to missclick things.. But you still having better things like brown or mostly any tacticle switch since it haves a little pressing resistance without slowing you down which is basically better than a blue switch, Even if we talk about prevent missclick, you gonna have missclicks at gameplay with blue switches anyway if you are dummy enough (like me for example) so no, it doesn't prevent you to missclick as other switches could or not. So is not even worth, not at all, The main advantage is only at typing because of the sound and sensation feedback but only that, if you are not that poor just build yourself a second keyboard just to type or just to play (as i did, there some not expensive options. For example i bought an custom tenkeyless keyboard with cherry mx red switches and i don't even work but i can still afford it, is just about to search). But if you still having no money or you are a newbe, just go for brown or red switches, they are literally good at everything or at least at mostly main activities, instead, blue switches are just good at typing (just think that blue switches are literally the less expensive switches of all of them). Also consider that is just my personal opinion after testing some switches for a long time, and also i have to say i don't even complain about the video, it was actually good

@SlurpKing1004 жыл бұрын
I just wanna say that osu is definently not only preference. Lighter switches or even a touchpad like the ProX will objectively allow for better stamina, the same way alternating would objectively allow for higher bpm jumps. However, the setups effect on the personal learning curve might in practice be a much bigger factor on performance.
@ciorta62724 жыл бұрын
You big dumb dont type please.
@Kachulu4 жыл бұрын
I disagree! I actually lose more stamina with lighter switches & touchpads. This being because lighter switches requires two stamina-inducing movements, pushing down, then returning. Heavier switches allow me to ease the second movement of returning, and also reduces my chances of finger-locking, which also zaps stamina when playing osu! I believe there are too many factors in osu! that zap stamina; such as misreading, loss of rhythm, & finger-locking to really judge switches as "objective".
@SlurpKing1004 жыл бұрын
@@Kachulu I see your point but I still hold my opinion. The return movement of the finger doesn't involve any resistance and thus helping that movement wouldn't do much. Imagine pulling on a resistance band from the ceiling. A heavier resistance band wouldn't allow one to do more reps because it helps spring back the arm on the return movement. This could be a shitty analogy though, I don't have a PhD in biomechanics or anything. While misreading, loss of rhythm and finger-locking all influence stamina, they are all mental. If a player performs worse on an "objectively better" setup, I would argue it's because they haven't learned to play with it. You could liken it to how in a skill-based RPG there might be stronger characters that are harder to play. I would argue that they are objectively better than easier to play weaker characters.
@Kachulu4 жыл бұрын
@@SlurpKing100 This would all be sick, but I would argue osu! is over 70% a mental game.. If people only buy things based on the best possible 100% guaranteed better outcome, it wouldn't be for osu!, it'd be for a different game. Your RPG analogy is cool, but RPG's don't have mental complications like osu! My main reasoning is that osu! is mostly mental, and everyone's mental is different, so different people work better with different types of switches. That's why I believe it really is all preference.

I wouldn't recommend the super light 35g Gateron Milky Clears. I ended up getting some sort of RSI, and I think the clears were definitely a factor. I don't think its carpel tunnel, as there's no numbness, and it feels like some sort of pulled tendon, but its in both middle and index fingers. My theory is that because the 35g switches are so light, instead of the switch pushing back on your finger when streaming, I had to pull my fingers back up manually, causing a lot of strain on a certain tendon over time. I've since switched to Gateron CJ switches (they're like 65g I think) and I'm doing much better. Although a lot of it is probably due to the fact that I switched to Ring Index, started using a wrist wrest, and I'm actually paying attention to my tapping technique now lol. Its not worth the potential stamina benefit, especially if your goal is to improve. The clear switches are a crutch, and end up hurting your performance and potentially your hands in the long run.
@Lishtenbird2 жыл бұрын

TL:DR: get hot swappable keyboard for your first mechanical keyboard and membrane keyboards should not be a deal breaker. I recently got my first mechanical keyboard and I made the mistake of not getting a hot swap so I'm stuck with blue switches however I still love them, the feedback from them is amazing, not that I have trouble registering a keypress, more like it's nice to feel it, I only got a mechanical keyboard because I'm getting a pc and I was playing on my laptop until my pc arrives so I was limited to the laptops keyboard and I was fine with it, I did have a cheap membrane keyboard for my Xbox and it was fine for normal FPS games but it is definitely not for osu, way too mushy, but if you can get a decent membrane keyboard then that is fine for osu. This is only from my experience, I've only ever touched blue switches and I've only ever used 3 different keywords for osu (my laptop, cheap membrane and blue switch). Experiment for yourself, I know I will
