Salam alaikum, here in New Zealand 80% of the meat is Halal because of the export to the Arabian Gulf, Malaysia and Indonesia. The abbatoirs have muslim slaughter men in key operation areas to perform Halal rites. What is the situation in the US and Canada. It would be a good idea for muslims to invest in small, mini abbatoirs located near key cities to meet the needs of the muslim communities there.

Furthermore if one didn’t say bismillah out of forgetfulness (ie he realized after the dhiba that he forgot) the consensus from all madhabs is that it’s still ok to eat!!! Our beloved sheikh forgot to mention this hehe. All the more reason to favor the Shafi position

YQ is slightly wrong on 1 issue- Malik said ahlal kitaab do NOT need to say bismillah which seems obvious I don’t know why hanafis don’t get this- the hanbalis and salafis found a middle ground by saying don’t ask don’t tell should be the policy and you say bismillah over the food when eating.

I think the sheik answered his own question , where he said do not eat anything without the name of Allah been mentioned , it did not say slaughter !! , Imam Malik said you can say bismillah before or after it does not matter .

@E. Postbode let me tell you something about restaurants doesn't matter if it's upscale or not... When it gets busy they use whatever knife is available... Of course that should be the last of your worries because they use the same towel all day to clean and out out food back into their bins... Restaurants are so disgusting and that's just the tip of it.
