Same goes for new york. Drill is nothing but chicago slang and style on a revolutionized trap beat. The content is not new people been rapping about every type of violence since gangsta rap. Its just that people are intrigued by the way chicago people talk on song. To put it simple anybody that does drill is biting Chicago and stealing Chicago culture. New York and UK are straight biters. We know how they really sound but both of them could never takeoff after the 90s so they had to take chicago sound to takeoff its really corny.

And no memphis isn't stealing from NY when hip hop itself is influenced from other genres. You can't really even pinpoint the first hip hop song the only reason we say hip hop started in new york is because its like the most biggest city in the north. But if you do research you will find articles of people from philly saying they started hip hop. Also thats a lie no thats not what makes something drill. I keep telling you this its Chicago styled trap beats amd slang is what makes something drill. For example: No one is saying NBA Youngboy- Dead Trollz is drill even though it gives you the same vibe and he subliminally talking about opps. But the reason its not drill is because of his slang and accent. The beat itself would actually be considered a drill beat if a known drill rapper was rapping on it. I know this because Lil Jojo rapped on I got that sack and people think its a drill beat but it really came from Yo Gotti who is from Memphis and the original song is trap.

No it's not. UK drill is inspired by grime, which gives it its bounce and bass lines. NY drill is inspired by UK drill. The only reason it's called drill is because they rapped gang subjects like the Chicago drill artists. Sonically, it's not the same at all
