Bought the Cooper S their first year here in 2003,. My kid was playing travel hockey so we went all over the place, but the Manuel transmission is the only way to go for the full Mini Cooper experience!

Great video, never looked at a Mini until we were looking at cars for my daughter and found one on a Subaru lot. One drive and she was in love. And honestly I kind of enjoy it too even if the suspension is a touch rough for Jersey roads. How in 2022 can BMW still have any cars without Android Auto? Mind boggling, the amount of work it required to add it to my daughter's 13 was nuts, but I understood not having it back then.

I bought a 2022 MINI Cooper S two months ago. I really enjoyed your video and found myself nodding my head on many of your points including the head-up display, the steering wheel (I'm going to swap it out for a JCW wheel when they have them), I do miss extra fog lights. I'm 6' 7" and I feel very comfortable in this car. The car is fun, fun, fun! And that's what it's all about IMO. :)

Great review, as always. But traditional scones here in the UK are either fruit (raisins/currants/cherries) or plain!! You can also get savoury cheese scones but the scone to have with a cup of tea is fruit or plain with lashings of clotted cream and jam.

Great thing about the S models is you can add a few mods to make it similar to the John Cooper Works spec, and should equal to about the same in price. Plus you can keep that 6 speed manual!

with just a suspension upgrade, tires, and ecu tune prolly will beat 1

Glad to have you out again! Just a couple of corrections... the torque is 208 lb ft. The 162 lb ft quoted is for the 3 cylinder turbo found in the Cooper. Also, the smaller JCWs are 228 go. The 301 HP engine is only in the Clubman and Countryman JCW, as well as last year's GP. Lastly the 2 Door Hardtop JCW is available in manual transmission.

The JCW 2-door is 228 hp, and has manual transmission as standard. The JCWs that sre over 300 hp without the manual transmission are the Clubman and the Countryman.

I love love love it, especially the color changing roof, that's really cool. The interior is my favorite part. The seats 100% should be power. I think the S should at least have 240hp, because that's a huge jump from 189hp to over 300 with the John Cooper Works. It's like it's missing the sweet spot. Still love it though I just wouldn't buy it because it wouldn't have enough power for me.

Had one of these in the mid-2000's. Slot car handling that is quite stunning and surprising. You'll do a whole lot of grinning on your first mountain switchback. Expect instantaneous reaction to any steering input. Is it ever precise, or what! As a daily driver, the S can be tiring because, like a slot car, the ride is harsh. (JCW is really rough). It is NOT comparable to the Miata which matches Mini precision, but adds smoothness, slickness and gives the driver much more confidence. I loved my MINI, but I'm still in love with my old Miata.

Gen2 still the winner for Mini. It’s been 189hp for 10 years now. Let’s go BMW give it some more ponies for goodness sakes. Manual is always a must. Make it AWD and I think the buyer market will increase. Fob is ugly. Good thing Outmotoring sells accessory to slim down the fob. I gotta have fog lights and powered seats should be standard. For $36k you certainly don’t get a lot. It’s upgraded but not really. The virtual cockpit is not virtual. The screen in the center is limited and the tach and speedo are analog behind a matte cover. Either way Joe makes the video fun - keep it up.

Great review, but the JCW is not 300hp, it is 228hp. The Mini GP is 306hp UK. Spec. All minis have a transverse engine layout, not an inline. Sorry to point these things out, because I really enjoyed your review and your enthusiasm.

Just as a heads up the 2 door JCW has a horsepower of 228, not 301. The Clubman and Countryman come with a JCW that has 301 horsepower. I wish the 2 door did. Thanks
