Eden Gardens is on the Fort William territory, which is entirely owned by the Army, not the police. Also, some fun history trivia! Eden Gardens is named after the Eden Gardens park next door, named in honor of the sisters of George Eden, 1st Earl of Auckland (New Zealand), who was Governor General at the time the park was built. History knows him as Lord Auckland. That is also why the stadium in Auckland, New Zealand is named Eden Park. I grew up thinking that the two names are coincidental, turns out they are not!

If it's in honor of George Eden's sisters, why is it not named after them?

@@neoandleia Their sisters also bear the Eden surname, duh! 🙄

What I gathered from this is that Galle needs to rename a "stand" if you can call any side of the ground that, after Jarrod! 🤣

Not picking Adelaide oval is so ridiculously criminal given how beautiful the ground is, the lovely surrounds and the amazing sunsets. Jarrod picking St George’s park and citing the old scoreboard and hill, like hello, Adelaide oval has the exact same thing in a more picturesque setting. How could anyone objectively not like the Adelaide oval like Jarrod mentions. Sounds to me like he has a bad experience there. Or he’s just a typical Victorian…

100%. It is the most attractive and best-managed ground in Australia by a mile.

I really like the Darren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia. It looks awesome on TV and by all accounts a good place to watch cricket.

The outfield in Dharamshala was improved astronomically in the Ind v Eng Test Match, it was pretty bad in the World Cup

Behram and Jarrod really echoed my thoughts about Kensington Oval Barbados. The pool, the media box, and everything named after legends of the game. A little gutted to see the Oval so low on the list, it would’ve been number one on mine.

43:00 It may not seem like that but Eden Gardens' capacity is around 65000.

17:50 - sad to say Jarrod, Hooters opened up a new restaurant in Liverpool in the last few years. Nottingham isnt so special anymore. 😁

I visited the old pitch in Antigua, the Recreation Ground. Sad to see it nowadays, it is run down, no cricket is played on it anymore. Me and my dad snuck in to walk around, even found some old kit left in the abandoned rooms, we took a stump and a west indies vest. You can see why the stadium must’ve got such a good atmosphere, its only a 10 minute walk from the centre of st john’s next to the cathedral, where as the new stadium is about 20-30 minutes drive in land away from the city, too far for people with no cars. Courtly Ambrose steaming in with a full crowd mustve been one of the most intimidating atmospheres

I’d say my home ground is one of the most scenic grounds that no one will have heard of. It is Avenue Road in Abergavenny Wales. It is an amazing location in the nicest street in our town, with views of the hills that surround the town. It is the home to Abergavenny CC and occasionally hosts glamorgan games and wales games. I think the highest score at the ground was andrew symonds for Worcestershire against Glamorgan. Also the club has played there since 1834!

Stormont is the ground in Belfast (on the grounds of Stormont, seat of the Northern Irish govt, and where Zim v Irl will play next week). Clontarf (Castle Avenue) is also a "posh" suburb of Dublin, 10 min drive from Malahide

Great topic. Always fun to hear of JK’s live experiences. Wanderers was my home ground (and I was a member at the adjoining Wanderers club - in a different sport). It has a special place in my heart including the 439 game (no, not the 434-438 one, the other 430+ when AB went nuts). Other favourites - MCG, Centurion - the embankment is a great spot during tests, Lords (it’s not /that/ vanilla), Newlands, and I do love both Old Traffords.

Chepauk should be up there in the list, home to many iconic matches throughout the history especially for test matches, and now with the renovation, it looks quite good as well, one of the better looking grounds in India

Big doesnt mean anything. MCG is big but has massive history, boxing day tests are some of the most iconic moments in the cricket calendar

Also, it looks shit and the architecture is boring. The colour inside is gaudy and there is nothing that stands out. It could seat 200,000 for all I care, it will never be good enough
