I lost my period for 4 months and I was in bliss. It's back now....had one....missed one and getting another period now. I'm 50 and I can tell it's ending. My moods are much better. 2 years ago....48. I was suicidal and in the darkest place of my life. I do regret not seeking any help. I just used cannabis and slept for 2 depressing years. Hang in there my sisters. I love you all so much and respect you.

I’m confused which one is confusing my peri that wakes me up 3x during the night sometimes or my husband that helps just to empress our church. First he knew exactly what’s going on and he watched and enjoys it. It’s all about how to make himself happy at my suffering expense. Not only I have to deal with this horrible peri mode swings icy cold, panic attack and a deep sadness I have to deal with pure evil husband who enjoys watching me in this menopause no life at all.

@@victoriabalbutin9889 Leave him! You don't have to deal with him. You would be much happier single. Always remember that you have a choice. Show him how happy you are without his evil presence. I left mine and I have never looked back. They are not men. They are children who need us far more than we need them. With an evil man like this, you will never know what your real symptoms are because HE is causing many of them. Peri is what you experience before your periods stop for a full year.

Started peri at 44, now I’m 49. Sleep, sweating and anxiety have been awful! I’m on hrt, but it isn’t helping that much. The worst part is how stressful life has been on top of all of it. I feel like I need to be on an island with no one around for a while. Nothing prepared me for this phase of life.

Hi Sarah Wanting to be alone is quite a common issue so you are not alone here! I have posted a vlog on this so please do take a look. If you feel that your HRT isn't helping, it is important to let your doctor know. There are many forms of HRT and they may be able to offer you a more effective one www.avogel.co.uk/health/menopause/videos/is-the-menopause-turning-you-into-a-hermit/ Best Wishes Eileen

Hello, I guarantee you the stress that you're going through is making it 10 times worse! I know that only because that's what is going on with my situation. I don't have any tips on how to deal with that as some things in life are just unavoidable, however if you can take time to yourself do it as much as you can get away with and sleep as much as you were able to get away with because sleep is really so important at the stage of our life! Look up Dr karen Adams on you tube. Shes a Stanford University menopause specialist and she has tons of helpful details in her videos. Shes said numerous times that practically all symptoms can be relieved. Dont give up!

I’m an RN and very educated on my options, yet astounded at how little women have for their treatment to help with this hellish problem. This has been the worst experience of my entire life. Hi Eileen, I haven't had a menstrual cycle in about 1 year and 4months, and have been going through peri-menopause for about 5 or 6 years, but I still have anxiety every other day, and during the time my cycle use to be. I take vitamins regularly, but being that I have cptsd from childhood trauma, I still struggle to manage my anxiety. Watching your videos since 2019/2020, has helped me so much. Even now, when I feel anxious, I find one of your videos and it helps me to be calm. Today my anxiety was bad, so I watched a few of your videos and decided to comment on here. From ages 42-45 I was dealing with a lot of issues/trauma in my marriage having learned that my husband had been cheating on me for years. I was in such shock and emotional upheaval that perimenopause never crossed my mind - I was in emotional survival mode. Once I got my life calmed down and should have started to feel safer - lots of therapy and healing work - then BAM everything got worse - insomnia, missed periods, weight gain. I chalked it all up to the stress and still missed that perimenopause was a thing. Now here I am at 47 and I will got 2-3 months with no period then I’ll get a real heavy one but only like 3 days - but my biggest thing is conginitive stuff - like horrible indecision, overwhelmed by the simplistic tasks, forgetting what I am suppose to be doing. I wake up and just freeze trying to remember if I’m suppose to be going to work that day or the gym or the kiddos (I work shift work so everyday is different). It’s gotten so so so bad the last few months - I’m hoping I’m almost done with all of this. I want my life back.

You're welcome Barbara. Unfortunatley, symptoms can continue for a number of years after periods stop but if you're getting new ones or the ones you have are getting worse then it is best to check with your doctor. Hi Eileen, Thank you so much for your videos. I think I have been perimenopausal for several years now and my periods started to get wider apart and last fewer days as you mentioned. Then I started HRT a year ago hoping to alleviate muscle ache in my neck and shoulders and stiffness in my legs in the mornings. Since starting HRT my periods are back every month and last the normal 5-7 days, some very heavy. Will periods stop even if you are on HRT as you are essentially putting in the hormones that are involved in having a period. What if my periods do to stop by the time I am 55, in 6 months? Thanks.
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 7 ай бұрын
Hi Manisha It is quite common for periods to come back when you start HRT, it is as you say, you are adding more into the body. Unfortunatley, it is difficult to say how long this may last as it could depend on how your own natural hormones are decreasing. If periods continue, it is wise just to check with your doctor or pharmacist, that this is a normal reaction to the type of HRT you are on and they may also be able to tell you how long this may continue for. Hi Sue Heavy bleeding or prolonged periods are quite common in the perimenopause and often just caused by the exaggerated hormone fluctuations, however, they are certainly not good for you and can quickly trigger anaemia. It is good to hear that your doctor is investigating as other issues such as fibroids, polyps/cysts or even a prolapse could be a factor and getting these treated sooner rather than later is best. Hi Johannsi Swollen hands and feet can be caused by a number of issues such as dehydration, high blood pressure, inactivity, too much salt in the diet, certain medications or poor circulation so it is important to get a proper diagnosis from your doctor first., Unfortunately, without knowing the underlying cause, it's difficult to recommend something appropriate for you, sorry. Once you have a diagnosis, if you still wish to go down the natural route, please do get back in touch and I will see if we have anything suitable to help you. Best Wishes Eileen

I'm totally confused. I'm only 39 but I think I hve been in perimenopause for may be 10 or more years. I had my cycles every 28 days in early adulthood, at the age of 29 or 30 they started to come every 23-24 days ( ??? peri started at that time ??) ...now my average cycle is 25-26 days since many years. I have intense hot flushes, first started as night sweats 5 years ago, at 34, but then I never thought of perimenopause l, I attributed them to stress.They went away after a couple of months, to come back 10 months ago. They disappeared again after 2-3 months and came back recently, after I got a Covid infection ( the new variant). Now my hot flushes are very intense and come mostly during waking hours, plus some night sweats. I saw a gynecologist last year when I had the hot flushes, had some hormone tests and ultrasound, everything was Ok. I did the tests again last week and there was low ovarian reserve, but the test predicted that I will have menopause at 47-48 . I don't know if my symptoms suggest that I am in late perimenopause now. I don't really wish to enter menopause too early for fear of the health consequences.

Hi Mona The best thing to do is get back to your doctor and ask for another referral and tests, to see if anything has changed since the last ones. Also ask to be tested for low vitamin D and B12, and thyroid function as these can cause identical symptoms, as can general stress. Without knowing exactly, if it is the perimenopause or not , it's going to be difficult to recommend something suitable for you. Best Wishes Eileen

Hi Greta It is very unusual to have the menopause for that long! What can happen is that other health issues such as vitamin D or B12 deficiency, low iron, under/overactive thyroid, diabetes or heart disease can develop over the years and all of these can cause symptoms that are identical to menopause ones! Also, if someone approaches the menopause with existing health issues such as those I mentioned above, these can prolong the passage through the menopause. Best Wishes Eileen

Hi Lynda It is so much more difficult to tell what's going on if you don't have missing periods as a guide. In general, if your ovaries were left, then you would usually have the menopause at roughly the same age you would have done, had you not had the operation. The average age to start the menopause is 45-55 so you are only just in the normal age range for symptoms to appear. It may be that you have a few years to go before you notice any changes, if any! @@AvogelCoUk This is absolutely not true! I had a hysterectomy at age 36 with healthy ovaries intact. I was not in menopausal at all whatsoever and had a good healthy libido and sex life was normal as if I didn’t have the surgery. The only time a woman would go into menopause is if both of her ovaries are removed. Ovaries regulate our hormones! We don’t get periods because our uterus are removed. That’s the point of the hysterectomy! I’m honestly angry at how women are being misled thinking they still get their periods after a hysterectomy or think they are in menopause when they still have their healthy ovaries. My gosh what bloody hell are you telling women? I am 54 now and my peri menopausa didn’t start until I was around 51 or 52 years old. No hot flash. Just vaginal atrophy and libido is impacted. However, right now I’m feeling a little more like myself on most days is when I suspect my menopause is soon ending or if not already in post menopause. Please stick to facts about hysterectomy. I really wish women like you and others do your due diligence to understand how hysterectomy works! Once uterus is removed, periods end. Unless a woman had fibroids removed on the outside of her uterus between her fallopian tubes and ovaries then she may still get her period. But once uterus is gone, no periods 💯 and of both ovaries removed, then menopause becomes imminent.

The only way to know is when your libido is impacted, vaginal dryness/ vaginal atrophy and hot flash and other unusual symptoms you may notice. Keep an eye on those. The trouble is I've not had periods for years because my pill stopped them. So I have no indication regarding periods, so that's no help.

It can be hard to know when periods have been suppressed with hormonal birth control. The same is true for anyone with a hysterectomy. So can be tricky!

There needs to be an off button. I need to be able to just hit that button and I'm done. It's so annoying to not have anything for months and then boom, it's back. I vote for an off button!

Hi Periods coming back after a year or more is quite common and often caused by a last hormonal surge. However, it is wise to also get this checked by your doctor, just to rule out issues such as fibroids. Best Wishes Eileen

I think it’s easier to consider at this stage, especially if the marriage wasn’t based on sincere love…ie.if built on lust and selfishness.

Im 40 will be 41 next month and I been going through changes since about 34/35ish.. Its like being on a darn roller-coaster ugh... I pray Godbheals and delivers me soon feom All of this .. Please if you have any info on the wild yam creams can you share .. Is it good and does it help for those of us who still have our uterus ? And can we use it without other hormones like Estrogen in stuff.

Hi Tonya I tend not to recommend yam creams as I haven't found a lot of research on the efficacy. However, some women have told me that it has helped them so may be worth a try for a few months to see if you benefit from it Best Wishes Eileen

Hi Marie Missing periods are often one of the first signs of approaching the menopause but, at this stage, periods may come back again at some point for some women. Just keep a note of periods missing each month and if you get to a year then that is usually a sign that you're in the menopause proper! Best Wishes Eileen

Although frequent periods are quite common in the perimenopause, it is important to check with your doctor. They can make sure that other issues such as fibroids, polyps/cysts or even a prolapse are not a factor too Best Wishes Eileen
