If this is supposed to be Finrod (Galadriel's brother) he didn't die "hunting the enemy" he died fulfilling his oath to Barahir to protect Beren at all costs while he was imprisoned by Morgoth by breaking free of his chains and then killing a werewolf with his barehands and teeth and then dying of his wounds like an absolute badass. Galadriel's brother was never regarded as one of the great warrior princes. He established his realm in the First Age as a refuge and a safe haven so that the Elves could better outlast the dark times ahead. If Galadriel wanted to "carry on his task," she would do exactly what Tolkien says she did as a wise ruler. And, very importantly, her brother did not die in battle or "hunting the enemy." He died in prison, sacrificing himself to save Beren so that the Quest for the Silmaril could continue. If that doesn't happen, the entire history of Middle Earth is radically altered - and not for the good.
@Siriusb272 жыл бұрын
It might be Orodreth or Angrod or Aegnor (I think these last two died in the battle of Nirnaeth Arnoediad against Morgoth's army, if I remember)
@fantasywind39232 жыл бұрын
Well Finrod defintiely WAS great warrior, but he wasn't focusin merely on fighting, he was wise intellectual, artist and good ruler, philosopher king basically, higly diplomatic, who made friendships and alliances with every effin race and people he could, he was friendly with the Dwarves (even received a dwarven nickname), he was friend of Men, hell he made friends even with the Feanorians, the sons of Feanor who delicately speaking were not on the good terms with other elven princes and groups :). If this is really supposed to be Finrod, I' m really disappointed with his portrayal (plus that short modern haircut is so out of place, this guy had golden hair of Vanyar blood to fully highlight it they should have it longer at least shoulder length!), Finrod's role in the quest of Beren and Luhtien for the Silmaril is one of the most fundamental stories, it actually is talked about in the Lotr book, in the narrative at least three times! "In those days the Great Enemy, of whom Sauron of Mordor was but a servant, dwelt in Angband in the North, and the Elves of the West coming back to Middle-earth made war upon him to regain the Silmarils which he had stolen; and the fathers of Men aided the Elves. But the Enemy was victorious and Barahir was slain, and Beren escaping through great peril came over the Mountains of Terror into the hidden Kingdom of Thingol in the forest of Neldoreth. There he beheld Lúthien singing and dancing in a glade beside the enchanted river Esgalduin; and he named her Tinúviel, that is Nightingale in the language of old. Many sorrows befell them afterwards, and they were parted long. Tinúviel rescued Beren from the dungeons of Sauron, and together they passed through great dangers, and cast down even the Great Enemy from his throne, and took from his iron crown one of the three Silmarils, brightest of all jewels, to be the bride-price of Lúthien to Thingol her father. Yet at the last Beren was slain by the Wolf that came from the gates of Angband, and he died in the arms of Tinúviel. But she chose mortality, and to die from the world, so that she might follow him; and it is sung that they met again beyond the Sundering Seas, and after a brief time walking alive once more in the green woods, together they passed, long ago, beyond the confines of this world. So it is that Lúthien Tinúviel alone of the Elf-kindred has died indeed and left the world, and they have lost her whom they most loved. But from her the lineage of the Elf-lords of old descended among Men. There live still those of whom Lúthien was the foremother, and it is said that her line shall never fail. Elrond of Rivendell is of that Kin. For of Beren and Lúthien was born Dior Thingol's heir; and of him Elwing the White whom Eärendil wedded, he that sailed his ship out of the mists of the world into the seas of heaven with the Silmaril upon his brow. And of Eärendil came the Kings of Númenor, that is Westernesse.'" Name of Finrod and his role in the story is not mentioned here but it cannot be forgotten, in any case it's but a summary of that tale! Name of Finrod is mentioned though in different context, Gildor Inglorion the elf who was a leader of Wandering Companies introduced himself as: "Gildor Inglorion of the House of Finrod". This interpretation of Galadriel is definitely NOT what she is supposed to be from all we know of her as written by Tolkien.

@fantasywind39232 жыл бұрын
@@haleyschreiter9746 the elven hair is supposed to look beautiful, even shining, and so far all those weird haircuts just make them feel completely ordinary, I mean heck the Glorfindel first appearance in the book: "Suddenly into view below came a white horse, gleaming in the shadows, running swiftly. In the dusk its headstall flickered and flashed, as if it were studded with gems like living stars. The rider's cloak streamed behind him, and his hood was thrown back; his golden hair flowed shimmering in the wind of his speed. To Frodo it appeared that a white light was shining through the form and raiment of the rider, as if through a thin veil." 'golden hair flower shimmering in the wind of his speed' it definitely is longer, at least shoulder length (by the way, it seems that Glorfindel had tough luck he theoretically could appear in this tv show, it would be also the first appearance of that character in any live action adaptation, but it seems just like Tom Bombadil, Glorfindel is just not lucky enough ;), in any way other elven characters from Lotr also could have appeared because they would have been alive at an early time period too, so Gildor Inglorion, Erestor, Lindir, Galdor of the Havens, also no sign of Cirdan Shipwright, who could have shined through this one! I mean with the amount of sea stuff and ships, the greatest lord of the mariner people of the elves, the builder of ships and lord of the Grey Havens would be quite important, then also comes his involvement in ALL THE FREAKING wars in the history, including the War of the Last Alliance and the rank of being...a RINBEARER for a while! The same with Celeborn the Wise, this show could have him from the start, and character could finally shine: "For the Lord of the Galadhrim is accounted the wisest of the elves of Middle-earth, and a giver of gifts beyond the power of kings....'." and not to mention his and Galadriel's DAUGHTER, Celebrian, future wife of Elrond). Elven hair is mark of attractiveness among their people as Tolkien wrote in more obscure texts: “All the Eldar had beautiful hair (and were especially attracted by hair of exceptional loveliness), but the Noldor were not specially remarkable in this respect, and there is no reference to Finwë as having had hair of exceptional length, abundance, or beauty beyond the measure of his people.” (from “The Shibboleth of Feanor”) ... Ingwë had curling golden hair. Finwë (and Míriel) had long dark hair, so had Fëanor and all the Noldor, save by intermarriage which did not often take place between clans, except among the chieftains, and then only after settlement in Aman. Only Finwë’s second son by Indis had fair hair, and this remained generally characteristic of his descendants, notably Finrod. Elwë and Olwë had very pale hair, almost white. Melian was dark, and so was Lúthien. The Nature of Middle-earth - "Hair" Obviously Amazon DOES NOT have the rights to use those other writings, but come on even The Hobbit and Lotr alone higlight especial beauty of elven hair, but the show...they look completely mundane and oridnary, the short haircuts seem way too modern, and the worst offender is this Arondir the Latino elf played by Ismael Cruz Cordova (setting aside that there are no black elves at all) couldn't they at least give him longer hair, that buzz cut is seriously taking me out of suspension of disbelief :). It looks as if he was having electric trimmer treatment, but in such a primitive technologically world what does he use, shears, scissors, does he shave his head or what? :) Heck, even those ears won't help the fact that guy looks like a Man, if the actor played a Haradrim warrior nobody would bat an eye! At least it would make more sense :), though funnily enough even the Haradrim had longer hair hahah. ""'More Men going to Mordor,' he [Gollum] said in a low voice. 'Dark faces. We have not seen Men like these before... They are fierce. They have black eyes, and long black hair, and gold rings in their ears... lots of beautiful gold. And some have red paint on their cheeks, and red cloaks and their flags are red, and the tips of their spears; and they have round shields, yellow and black with big spikes. " ... ""For a moment he caught a glimpse of swarthy men in red running down the slope some way off with green-clad warriors leaping after them... a man fell, crashing through the slender trees, nearly on top of them. He came to rest in the fern a few feet away, face downward, green arrow-feathers sticking from his neck below a golden collar. His scarlet robes were tattered, his corslet of overlapping brazen plates was rent and hewn, his black plaits of hair braided with gold were drenched with blood. His brown hand still clutched the hilt of a broken sword." :)

Sadly, lengthened shots of characters remaining silent and staring could be great character moments, or give proper perspective to the incredible environments they're in. Instead, it's used to give hollow gravitas to hollow characters and hollow stories. Many modern Hollywood products use unnecessarily terse shots, with multiple jump cuts lasting a second or less. Most scenes, and the audience, aren't allowed to breathe or think. This is especially true for action sequences. When was the last time you've seen an action sequence with only one or two cuts? I remember an episode of Daredevil season 3 that had a continuous 11 minute sequence. It was so anathema to modern Hollywood it nearly pulled me out of the story, but only because of how awesome it was. If properly executed, pauses on characters and scenery could be incredible.

What the fuck is this shit?.. 💩🤦 Jackson's trilogy was made with love and respect to the source material. Meanwhile Amazon is making a generic fantasy show with a Tolkien paint job. Rings of Power is not made with love or respect to the source material. It's been co-opted to be a platform for virtue signaling activists. We want Tolkienism, not tokenism.. They're really going over the top with the accents. "His task is now moyn." Welsh actress trying to do English and ending up sounding Irish. We also have Lenny Henry's strange "skoyz" which, for an English man, is a very OTT accent. The Harfoots seems to have stereotypical West country accents too, apart from that guy who again sounds Irish but that could just be another bad attempt at an accent. As for Disa? God knows. As a Scot myself I can't tell if she is trying and failing at a Scottish accent, or an American one?!? I mean, to American ears these probably all sound like perfectly acceptable Ye Olde British accents, but to actual Brits, it's like nails on a blackboard.

Elk antlers are huge when compared to human much less a Hobbit who are at most half our size. There incredibly bulky and heavy to carry around and if their a nomadic society they'd be traveling light not hauling around elk antlers.

I felt my soul leave my body due to the cringe when I saw the opening scene with Galadriel's brother. Everyone is just standing still, the costumes and lighting look like a school project and the main guy just being pressed against an enemy and screaming for 10 seconds was sooo bad. Felt like they were going for a Battle-of-the-Bastards-style shot but completely blew it. I mean come on, at least show Galadriel's brother in the middle of fighting, then screaming after being stabbed for a short moment then cut to black. That's how you dramatically portray someone dying in a trailer, not by an extended screaming shot where all actors are just pushing against each other like they are on a metal festival.

The Hobbit was just moneygrabbing, but at least not so arrogant and obviously bad. People greeted The Hobbit relatively warmly and began to curse years later, at least that's how I see it. But the Rings of Power are a separate case. Social engineers have already nurtured an audience for such "content". Besides, if people are ready to endure high prices for gas and petrol, to endure lower living standards for the sake of an imaginary "climat change", then I kind of understand the creators. It makes no sense for them to create something good, because their audience is a stupid herd and it deserves such an attitude.

Someone that actually has a following and pulls some weight in the community, not those random blue checkmarks. But normies don't know any better. Great video guys. Ar-Pharazon is supposed to be the King, Tar-Miriel is his cousin and wife. Elendil is supposed to be his adviser. But the show changed it, so now she is the queen and Ar-Pharazon is her adviser and Elendil is a single dad and they created a new daughter character for him she is Isildur's sister. I hate using modern music in fantasy trailers. Witcher season 2 did the same thing. I don't care if it's the modern trend in Hollywood. LOTR was successful because it did things no one ever did before. You can't make a show that will shatter expectations and redefine the genre by copying other shows and playing it safe. And Witcher was also just a bunch of contrived expositional scenes for a lot of it. Halbrand (sexy sauron) and Galadriel meet on that raft after a shipwreck. And they are taken to Numenor, where Galadriel never actually went. If he is Sauron, she should know immediately, so if they are doing a secret reveal that tricks her, it breaks the lore. Witcher did the same thing, think took the names and little else and just did whatever they wanted. These companies should just make their own shows. If they think they need recognizable names and formulas in order to be successful, we point to Elden Ring. Brand new world, heavily influenced by Tolkien, game mechanics that were "too hard!" and it blew every other game out of the water. My final statement, is that LOTR is a myth, a legend. Myths and legends don't have or need character arcs. Especially ones that are explained retroactively as backstory or world building. The most important thing is that we go on the journey and learn something, not that the characters do. I haven't given that a lot of thought, but please encourage Shad to make a video about stories for the sake of entertainment and myth.
