Patrick, the reason your parents offered to help pay for college is because it would help your siblings. Asking them to buy you a car and pay your rent because you don’t want to get a real job would be enabling your bad behavior. You’re still young you could easily turn your life around but if you continue to keep the attitude that anything outside of the exact thing you want is out of the question, then nothing is going to change. I made more than $10k when I was working part time at McDonald’s to pay my way through school. Dont be a fool.

It's really heartbreaking to see how inflation and recession impact low-income families. The cost of living keeps rising, and many struggle just to meet basic needs, let alone save or invest. @@xeegurl There's some confusion as to what is and isn't ordinary and taxable income. A friend of mine receives SS retirement benefits after working for 45 years. She also receives a very small pension of $100 a month. A tax pro told her she has to declare her SS benefits because it's taxable income. How can that be? I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Patrick sounds like someone who’s in active addiction. Repeating themselves, grandiose ideas, entitlement, and with parents making the statement, “ungrateful…” sounds like a habitual pattern. (Since his parents have helped his siblings with college, his folks are probably the kind of people who want to help and give…so they can see ungrateful habits.) Unfortunately this was a waste of air time for Dave and Ken. It could have been better spent on someone who truly needs advice, and not on someone who likes to hear themselves speak..

For several years I volunteered at a high end multi - use entertainment complex that holds wedding receptions, Broadway touring shows, opera performances, etc. And I never saw a woman dressed in a formal gown, bring her infant child into the ladies restroom suites in need of breastfeeding. Orlando is the city where I volunteered and to that lady who called from Orlando I ask, what were you thinking????

@Zee-zj2uh It's so awful and tragic. When I lived in Colorado, I was a CNA. I worked for a company that paid their CNAs to be caregivers to their own family members. It was state funded. There were moms that were caregivers to their special needs children, daughters & sons that took care of aging parents, and spouses that cared for their ill spouses. They're evaluated by insurance, the state and disability to determine the hours of care they qualify for. (Each disability is different). Then once approved, the CNA logs their hours with the company and gets paid. I hope she sees the comments and I pray something like that is available to her! She would get paid and get tax breaks for taking her husband to all of his appointments.

The problem with this woman's company is that she is selling only to women. You've eliminated half the population then you're selling only to pregnant women. You're significantly cutting down the amount of women you're selling to and then you're selling it to women who breastfeed and is going to a formal event. you're not going to get very many customers at all. Interesting thought. However, you also have to factor in the late filing penalties. From what I can see, the late filing penalty for not filing your 2008 tax return would be $485 + 25% interest. Bible says give to Caesar what is Caesars, or give the government what is due. This also falls under high interest debt: this is honestly a baby step #2 issue. Yes, he owes $1000s of high interest debt.

Yall are wild. There is no law that requires most Americans to file a 1040 form. Don’t take my word for it, write your representatives in congress. Ask them to show you the law. @@Intentionaltia Which is the reason ALL women should have at least one foot in the workplace in a GOOD-PAYING job (even if part-time). Death is easy and inexpensive to prepare for with life insurance. Disability insurance should be a budget item for all families with one main breadwinner, but cases like this show that once the kids are in school, having only one breadwinner in the family can become very risky financially. Fortunes can disappear in a hot second if someone with a high salary and a family accustomed to living accordingly suddenly has a stroke and needs 24-7 care.
