Oh my gosh, Lynn, you are so sweet. And yeah, I agree about the nursery thing, it is lovely to have a dedicated locations for all your babies. We have a 1200 footage townhouse, and all the babes are on the loft landing lol. I still need a crib, and changing table for the area: your right, it’s not like you can place them in a corner. My guide dog would try to sleep on them. Great advise on the bonding idea. Changing an outfit is an amazing way to alter the view of a reluctant doll.

I bought a $200 doll last week on Reborns (dot com) because she had a really distinctive, vintage look (not so much realism but strikingly artistic) and I kept going back to look at her until I finally caved and bought her. I wasn't expecting much with the box because of the price. But I got the box yesterday and it was so extravagant I got a little teary. Gorgeous new clothes, accessories, custom-made hair conditioner, adorable shoes, toys, a super-luxurious blanket and even gifts for me!! (The doll was beautiful too - haha - and even at that bargain price. Sometimes it pays off to gamble on lesser-known artists!) I think I got so emotional because it was the closest thing to a baby shower that I'll ever have. The artist had gift-wrapped everything beautifully, and the whole thing must have cost her a fortune. I couldn't believe it. I felt like a KZbinr! 😉 On the flip side, I've received at least 2 more-expensive dolls that were literally wrapped in grocery store butcher paper with nothing else, the end. It was a bummer, but the dolls at least made me happy. I think some of us watch KZbin channels and get our expectations up for box openings, but sadly not all box openings are special. My "did I really spend that???" dolls have come with beautiful things, but with the budget dolls, it's a dice roll. God bless the artists who go the extra mile though. My box yesterday (I'll just plug it: from Southern Distressed Reborn Nursery) really blew me away. You could just feel the amount of love the artist put into the doll and her amazing box. I'm still stunned by it. So to answer your question: An essential is LOVE. Pack with love and it's soooooo evident that the artist takes pride in the work and isn't just throwing babies together to make a buck. Even beautifully wrapped budget clothes are special. And that aside, pacis. I'm always short. 😁 Sorry I always leave EPIC tl;dr comments here. I have NO ONE to talk about this hobby with and I'm too shy to talk on DollFan. ❤

I’m all about hunting for bargains, so I try to stay under $20 for an outfit. I love babies in soft sleepers and cotton dresses. Those are what.i gravitate to when I’m shopping.

I also loveeee my babies in cozy, soft outfits! Love fleece sleepers for example and I agree, pretty dresses or outfits are more for pics but to cuddle cotton or fleece sleepers are the best. I love pacifiers too, specially now that I have a few open mouth babies that can take modified pacis cause I m terrible to magnetize them lol

Hi Lynn. What you have to say about baby clothes here is really interesting and fits in a lot with what I do. Having 11 babies now I really have to watch what i spend on clothes. The problem I have at the moment is that most of the what I call little babies take what you'd call newborn size and I'd call tiny baby, which would be up to 7 pounds. Now in that size I can find any number of basics, sleepers, baby grows, things like that, but to me, having no sight, they feel soft and cuddly, but wearing an endless succession of those on my little babies gets a bit monotonous which is why I like to wear outfits. I don't mean anything super fancy, but a nice top and leggings, or dungarees and a tee, or a little dress with leggings underneath, or something of that kind. I have to do all my shopping online and oh boy! It is so hard to find more than a drop here and a drop there of outfits in the right size. You find something you love, then it starts in 0-3 months size, it's very frustrating. If you go to a site specialising in tiny baby clothes you end up paying twenty to thirty dollars per item, which is really not feasible. Waiting for a sale is good advice and I appreciate it very much. I do so love your videos and thank Amanda very much for introducing me to you. I'll be on Facetime when her new baby enters the world, I guess I'm almost as excited as she is! 👶👧💖💞

Hi StrawberryMoonReborns! I'm so glad you found my channel through Amanda. She is really a sweetheart and I am so excited to get her baby home to her and that's so neat that you'll get to be part of the box opening! Yes, newborn size clothes are SO hard to shop for. I found some really cute things on PetitOutlet on sale -- they are the discount site for Children Salon -- for less than $20, making those sale items even cheaper than some of the items from Target, Gymboree, etc. Gymboree and Carters both have newborn size too as well as Little Me, but Little Me mostly has sleepers in that size. That's the key to bargain shopping. I'll wait until the nicer quality clothing goes on sale vs paying regular price for big box store clothing. It can usually shake out to be comparable in pricing and many times cheaper. But like you mentioned, people have a perception of certain stores being expensive and won't even try, but I think they'd be surprised. One of my dolls came from Germany and has different type of weighting and stuffing than any of my other dolls, but I don't mind it at all. I feel it's what the artist had available to her and honestly I like her weighting more because it took less weight sacks to make her heavier. I don't think that different is always necessarily bad or inferior.

I now this as nothing to do with the video but what is the belly plate for I was looking at other videos and people have them and you are an artist so I thot that you could tell me what they are for because I realy don't now I am realy new about this. I am 11 and my mom is going to get me a reborn baby doll and I do not now if I should get a belly plate cause I do not now what they are.

Some people like the belly plate for posing the baby in photos and to look more realistic, but I personally don't really care for them or think they are necessary. Several of my dolls have them but I never use them. Hope this helps! xoxo

Maizie is so adorable! I love the diaper she has on, can I ask what it is? I have honest diapers for Emmie but really dont like how they fit. Maizie’s looks perfect. I so agree with you about baby clothes out there. Some looks so cute on the rack but when you actually put them on the reborn, they just aren’t comfy and dont really look all that comfortable. It so true about sales too. I admit there are brands I favor as well but I try to never pay full price unless its a really special piece I can’t pass. You can really find some good deals if you’re patient and shop around. I loved Janie and Jack for a previous reborn and I always found good deals in the store and occasionally online. I always like to have socks and tights as basics for my reborn girls, pacifier, and toys like a rattle or teether or lovie if they’re newborn. I always look at bottles and bibs but never use them so I stopped buying them. Lol.

I enjoyed this chat. When I got my first reborn, she came wearing a sleeper and wrapped in a receiving blanket with nothing else. I didn’t mind that I didn’t have anything for her. She slept next to me for about a month until I could get her a little bed. What I did mind was that she smelled like smoke and was weighted with, and leaking, sand, and that her head was so heavyin the wrong place that she arched backward when lifted, no matter how gentle I was and how much I supported her. Meanwhile her limbs sagged downward. By the way, she was a custom straight from her artist’s hands. She wasn’t an expensive doll by today’s standards, but her price was a lot of money to me, and I was very disappointed. I don’t think what’s in the box is nearly as important as how it’s presented. I’ve been giving thought to basic necessities though for the first time in a while, because I’m planning on getting a toddler (Ashton Drake, but doll type doesn’t matter so much to me) and of course she only comes with what she’s wearing. So all the extras will be up to me, and I’m finding the process of choosing things fun but also a little daunting. LOL I haven’t had such a big baby in so long, it’s hard to remember all the toddler things. I’m a huge fan of comfy clothes too. That’s what all the babies I’ve helped care for have worn, and that’s what I would dress real babies in, so I choose soft, comfy, practical things for my reborns even though I don’t necessarily have to. :) XOXOXO
