You mentioned feeling guilt as a child of immigrant parents on being able to do things that our parents weren't able to. I would maybe look at it at a different place. That our parents are proud that we have become independent people and are doing better than they ever imagined. And having those experiences with them such as taking them on trips or helping them with maybe bills can help in that. I also struggle a bit with those thoughts as a first generation born in the US but that's how I think of things to try to cope.

So true about what you said about your confidence. Other people's perception of you is a reflection of them, and if you have confidence you are able to recognize in those situations that the person just has issues with women and that it's not reflective of your merit

I am actually participating in a 2 day Women In Tech conference in Warsaw, Poland (Perspektywy Women In Tech). So many inspirational key speakers, AI/ML aficionados and women who work in tech/it but not in engineering roles. The stories and message is something that even young girls need to hear - that they are smart and capable and should dream big! I moved to IT after 15 years of doing something completely different, but I am pursuing my project/program management passion in a different field and you can too!

Hi Marsela. Your editing is really amazing and loved the women in tech talk. Needed to hear it as I recently had a very negative interview experience. Would you be working while in Europe? How will you balance work and travel? Waiting and excited for Europe vlogs!! ♥️

If you pass through Bologna, I recommends: Cremeria Cavour (gelato, you should taste this flavour: crema pistacchio, one of the best) Trattoria Baraldi (lunch - great pasta, and also the wine house - I think it's Sangiovese one) Enjoy Europe!! Wish you the best! See ya

I really like the way you explained how any minority gets affected in any industry and I think I'm going to share that. I also think ppl could get a wrong idea about what the actual job is like. The problem solving part, getting stuck, aot. Maybe you should show more about your responsabilities and not only the perks in my opinion (Yeah I know every "day in a software engineer's life" videos are like that but that's my point)
@JodyBruchon Жыл бұрын
Minorities are preferentially hired and even legally mandated to be hired, so yes, minorities do get affected...positively.

@marselaaa2 жыл бұрын
you’d be surprised. There’s so much sexism even nowadays
@infinteuniverse2 жыл бұрын
@@marselaaa I meant in the work place; any slight unintentional discomfort caused to your colleagues can get you fired. For example, I have a racist colleague at my job who's always bad mouthing other races and cultures. If it weren't me he was talking to, and someone who gets offended by his comments, he'd be gone. But I agree, in general, there's work to be done. In 2022, there's equal amount of sexism to men and women.
