What Best In Slot Gear Will ACTUALLY Be Next Patch! ⚔️New World BiS For Season 1

Best in slot gear will be changing in the New World Season 1 update. Previously, BiS gear was typically Resilient + Shirking Fortification, but now there are lot of other interesting options due to the Fortification nerf. Elemental Aversion as well as Physical Aversion should be considered, but the specifics depend on using light, medium or heavy armor.

Kinda wish they would compile some of these perks into bigger perks. Like Vigor and Invigorated can just be one big perk and i go as far as say Just have Aversion that reduces ranged dmg as a whole

Thank you for this. Elemental aversion is gonna be good but not overhyped as everyone is making it to be. Like you said, if someone is running pure physical damage with no int, it's donzo for you if you're not protected.

@@Zykosis I agree. Medium should be midway between light and heavy. But the small dmg armor difference from medium to heavy combined with medium’s more damage makes heavy kind of lackluster. I play heavy as well. They should increase the base armor of heavy

I'm fairly certain that when they calculated the armor/weight ratio, they specifically calculated for a full light/medium/heavy loadout plus the optional shield (which have a bad armor/weight ratio to begin with). They probably didn't consider how much being able to wear a heavy chest in medium would be able to throw off this balance. I'd love for them to tackle this with the major rebalance patch and GS increase, when everyone's gear is likely getting a reset anyways.

Strike is by far the least significant threat, so IMO it's worthwhile to drop an onyx or two for an emerald if running a slash amulet or moonstone if running thrust. That allows the most well rounded defense for point players who want a good balance of slash and thrust protection.

Why don't people use the gem that gives extra damage when your stamina is not full. I almost never have full stam while fighting. Especially if using great sword heavy attack, on attack stance. Is it not good?

Resilient I'd still a must on alle pieces regardless of weight clsss.

I think the general problem is that damage mitigation is going to decrease across the board because Fortify is 2-3 times less valuable than it used to be. Meanwhile, melee damage is also being drastically reduced. So people will have to run 5x Resilient (which is basically Aversion for crits), and you will need to run 5x defensive perks, with a particular emphasis on reducing incoming Fire and Thrust damage. Anyhow, Shirking Fort is much weaker now. It's not totally unviable, but considering how it does not have 100% uptime, can be purged by Nullifying Oblivion, has the first two stacks mostly cancelled out by Invigorated Punishment, has questionable utility against out-of-the-blue ranged attacks, and is STILL lower eHP than an Aversion + 8x Onyx setup, I don't think anyone can credibly argue that it is BIS.

I agree with much of what you say, but keep in mind that the eHP argument is only true against ranged elemental and general physical damage. Melee physical damage will be extremely punishing against that setup, whereas Shirking Fort. maintains the same eHP in that situation. Hence my suggestion to opt into a split of Ele and Phys Aversion with mixed gems

Do i still go with 5 opals in armor and change only jeweelery ones for mutation ones to get to around 25% that specific one at given week? ofc im talking bout pve bc its majority of this game content.

Hey I've been thinking about this all day coincidentally! You haven't added the additional damage from things like DOTs, Attunement, Runeglass burn, which completely ignores elemental aversion. I appreciate the work you've put in and it's a really good start but I disagree on the conclusion, I think Shirking is favoured to Elemental on Medium and Heavy because of the fact it is a jack of all trades! Maybe they are balanced for a change :D

Sadly in the end of all buffs and nerfs don't matter. All bows passives that weren't apart of empower cap only got slight dmg reduction, mortal empower still very usable, and fire staff bow and musket(all ranged) get to play like if they were gonna die in game they would die in real life. TLDR they didn't nerf the weapons that needed nerfs and nerfed damage reduction in general making people want to interact less and play scared for ther ME stacks still.10:21 all not apart of empower cap btw still extra dmg to pair with ME stacks
