There is an episode of the new blues clues where the new guy calls up Steve and Joe to ask for help with his current clue. At first this moment is nothing more than a cute cameo, then steve asks "hey do you mind if I talk to my friend for a moment". The mood gets a little more personal and the phone is oriented to face the screen. Steve then directly speaks to us like he always did, engaging with us and waiting for our response. Asking us to help the new guy like we helped him. I fucking instantly burst into tears. Its such a personal moment designed to engage with those that grew up with him. Maybe parents watching this new show with their kids would see that and be affected. Steve will always and forever be our friend.

Although this episode was the saddest moment, the most saddest moment was actually Fred Rogers Goodbye Speech that aired at the end of 2002 because one year after the speech, he passed away on February 27th, 2003. Although he was loved by everyone in the world, his goal wasn't achieved. Because even after his death, the world doesn't change. The US-led Coalition invade Iraq, the Afghan War continues to this very day, Libya, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen collapsed into Civil War, it seems like the world doesn't changed. Fred Rogers wanted the world into a better life. Which means he just wanted the world to end those bloodshed. @@CaptainTittus Actually, it has nothing to do with living in a reality or not. My therapist actual brought up parasocial relationships to me, because I grow that type of attachment easily with youtubers & celebrities(or the characters they play) that I relate to in one way or another. If someone let's it get out of hand, that's when you get creepy obsessed people, who take it to far (stalking, finding phone numbers, ect.) But for people who don't let it get out of hand, it's a way that gives comfort or a sense of friendship. This happens most frequently with people who feel lonely, weither it's because they were emotionally neglected, or they never felt like they could find people who they related too, ect. That is typically the reason why people get so attached to people they follow on the internet, or watch on TV. Again, it's dangerous if it gets out of hand, but for most, it's a sense of comfort. Especially in this day and age where many people feel isolated (not just cause covid). Sorry for the long reply, just wanted to get my thought out there.

As a parent watching a lot of Blue's Clue, the genius part of the show is the non-verbal communications. Young kids picked up Steves facial expressions and Blue's actions. IMO, talking muppets just broke the magic of the show.

Similar to Stephen Hillenburg leaving Spongebob after the first movie. Spongebob's considered slapstick/physical humor: Laughs came from characters getting hurt. But many iconic jokes are in the show and nobody was injured. After he left, people forgot about that: Instead of slapstick, characters are just getting hurt in stupid ways, but it's not funny anymore. It's isn't the same without you, Stephen (1961-2018).

Blues clues taught me that two triangles can make a square or rectangle. That means that two things can come together to create something greater. That part hit me really hard. I started college this past year and was worried I wouldn’t really meet anyone because I’m not very outgoing. Thankfully, I’m in marching band and had an opportunity to meet some amazing people, so I did make some great new friends. Unfortunately, the first person I started to bond with and thought that I would actually be good friends with was in an accident the night before a performance. When we heard the news the next day I was absolutely devastated. This video reminded me of him, and while it makes me sad, it lets me reflect on how lucky I was to know him.

Same. The community center I work at had 2 receptionists who were very sweet, very intelligent, and they made me feel better about my self when I was down. I usually don’t like making friends at workplaces if only because of connections with the workplaces exist. Specifically, I work for my hometown’s local govt. It’s a city govt job, it’s more shite than your typical local govt, over 80% of the employees are miserable, incompetent, or both. I still don’t like that certain employees (dept heads, city officials, etc.) know who I am as that guy whose parents are city employees. But it was through working there that I discovered it wasn’t all bad. The 2 receptionists gave me a little bit of hope that things will get better. And then, within a month of each other, they moved on with their lives by quitting their jobs at the center. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for them, wish the best and all, and hope they have a good life. But I miss them and miss having them there because they made me laugh in my dark times. Things change. That doesn’t always mean they will be better, but things do change.

I was 6 when Steve left and it was around the time where organically I was maturing past the program, so seeing Steve moving on so maturely and handing over the reigns to his younger brother really helped me understand as a kid that it was okay for me to move on from it, too. It’s weird how important this show was for me. My little sister grew up with Joe and she had the same relationship with him that I had with Steve. I was right in the demographic audience when the show switched from Steve to Joe, and I still believe that this episode has helped shape my coping abilities. I absolutely love the episode where Steve goes to College. It was so well done, and I loved watching Joe afterwards. It didn’t feel like Joe was replacing Steve, but a natural part of the story. It didn’t show the changes as a loss, but a beautiful part of life. Now as I am adjusting to adulthood, I’ve really been able to see how this show has impacted me. Yeah, I’m scared about growing up and what will happen in the future, but I know it’s going to happen. I might as well see all the beauty of now.

I remember a couple years ago, I was in this big mandatory college class for all freshman media students. I remember the professor asking how many of us watched Blues Clues as a kid. About three quarters of this packed lecture hall raised their hands.

When I was a kid (four years old) I thought everything he do was real and when Joe is in the show I thought Steve was just absent and had Joe to be a "substitute teacher"kinda level headed but naive. But because our local tv channels mix up the story I found out that Steve is not coming back and it made me sad for 3 weeks and now as a teen who rewatched it. It is not making me happy anymore but little by little breaking my heart and when I got to the same episode that Steve left I stopped and cried.

this is gonna sound lame, but to this day i can't watch that episode where steve leaves without crying and my cousins and little sister (who are like 2-8 yo and who i watch it with whenever i babysit them) never understand why because they grew up with joe and that new guy whose name i can't remember. they didn't become steve's friend like i did. i remember wanting so badly to go to college because i thought that if i went there, steve would be there too and then i could still be his friend. now i'm filling out college applications and life is getting real.......

I was at a friend's house, hanging out with her and her toddler sons when all the characters on Blue's Clues started singing, "Steve is going to college..." I even recall him returning for a semester break wearing a top hat to hide a crazy buzz. I still sneak the show with a niece once in a while. It's a great show.

I get this man is probably in his early 40's now, I'd still call him my friend, even though I know he's not the same as he was on the show. He made my childhood, especially since I didn't have any friends irl back then. Decided i'd reply to 1 comment, and yours resonated to me. :o I too didn't have many friends when i was.. 5 or 6, and I had the Handy Dandy notebook, and a stuffed animal of blue. Steve was a better friend then most friends will ever be now.. I never watched the episode Steve left on, because i was at the age where I wandered to other shows, and occasionally my mother would yell, "oh hey it's your favorite show!" and we'd all watch.. then Steve was gone on one of those.. random episode encounters.. and we forever stopped watching.. We never knew why he left, and I'm glad it was on his terms, and not various other reasons. by now, age 26, I realize my love for drawing probably started with Blues Clues, however minor it was. Now.. I've lost my imagination.. :/ oh well.. I'm glad I stumbled on to this video, kinda adds Closure to what happened to Steve.
@Noobnormality3 жыл бұрын
@@qwaszxcvbnm7 it's ridiculous how qe are finding each other and being connected because of a kids show. I too used to wander to other shows, ofc the only (2) difference is that the shows I used to watch (including blue's clues) was saved on a laptop that we would just connect to our tv, and that I was younger than 5 back when I watched the show. I have a terrible memory so my memories of that show was very vague, so I can't really remember if I did watched the episode where steve left, but even if memory was vague, I can clearly recall steve, blue (which I still thought a boy until this video) and the theme of the show, which is doing detective work (as I like to call it back then) and finding clues scattered around the house and fit the puzzle pieces to make something very cool, like a experiment I would be lying if I said that my drawing skills didn't came from the show, but that isn't really what I got from the show. What I TRULY got from the show was my love for mystery solving. I've always loved gravity falls' idea of a boy trying to solve the mysterious things that's happening of the said place, and I've also fallen into the ARG (short for Alternate Reality Game) rabbit hole. But there's something that's going I to my mind, what's the reason? Why do I love these things? Ofc I know the reason that I've been connected into this genre since childhood, like the mecha genre, but from where exactly? I mean, I already know where I got my love from mecha, it's because my country just loves voltes v and I've fallen into that bandwagon, but I don't really know exactly why I've also fallen in love with the mystery genre. But after watching this video, that madee recall that it was blue's clues which is the reason why I love the mystery genre. It's because of how steve finds the clues that blue's leaves throughout the place, and that makes me feel even more connected to the show. Damn I miss those plain simple days where everything was just normal, no covid, and we were all still careless about our surroundings, only us and our little fantasies...

When my little brother was like 3 we got him a green and green striped shirt, like Steve, and he was so very excited. He kept touching his sleeves and laughing. He wouldn't watch the episodes with just Joe and after Joe was a standalone in the show, didn't like the ones with both Joe and Steve. We even tried to give him a Joe shirt but he hated it. It's honestly kind of awesome hearing about the real life Steve and his anxiety about being dishonest with children and I think that's one of the things that made him so good at being in Blue's Clues. When you're a kid all the good adults in your life are constantly thinking about how they're interacting with you and what they're conferring to you through those interactions. You're mostly completely unaware of that until you're an adult interacting with kids and then suddenly you realize how terrifying that is and are really grateful to the adults who cared about you in a way you couldn't be before.
