Using Krita 4 point something, brushes are all different. Different names, different icons. Still, good to see what you like to use and how they differ. I have plenty of new brushes to play with an find out which ones I like, whatever their 4.x names are. Also, as kegan explained two years ago, you can activate the Krita 3.x brush bundle in Settings > Manage Resources. I prolly won't, since I have plenty of brushes just in the 4.x bundle.

I was gonna ask how you get lineart to look more like a traditional sketch with the ballpoint brush? Like what settings did you have?
@martsstrugglewithdrawing24917 жыл бұрын
I'm using default settings on the brush, and it looks ok. Lite the traditional look is going from pressure sensitivity I guess.

How do you specifically get the points to be fine in the beginning and end of the strokes? These are great brushes, but I really would love to know how to get the points fine (like its starts off kinda faded and thin then it gets thicker to the size that you put it to). I know it has to do with the pressure but I don't know how to get it right.
@martsstrugglewithdrawing24917 жыл бұрын
Yeah you have to adjust your pressure curves in the brush settings (for size and for opacity)
@sunfloresfarm7 жыл бұрын
Okay thanks! I got it x3

@martsstrugglewithdrawing24915 жыл бұрын
Sadly in was remove, you can get it back via Settings -> Manage Resources -> And then move Krita_3_Default_Resources into "Active Bundles" | Also I've made the same video for Krita 4 brushes if you're interested kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZu5eZ-tiryZe9E

I can’t find Ink_BallPen anywhere. I’ve checked all the tags, it’s just not there.
@ke9n6 жыл бұрын
It might be from Krita 3. Just go to Settings>Manage Resources and you can load in brush bundles from older versions of Krita! You'll see which bundles you currently have active in the left window, and you can load older version bundles from the right window. This is also the area where you load in downloaded bundles/brushes! :D Cheers!~

For the ink_ballpen Brush how does he make the line have that nice finish so it gets smaller at the end
@SoftBreadSoft7 жыл бұрын
it's from pressure
@spencerm.88707 жыл бұрын
It's from pen pressure. If you use a mouse or a bad tablet, you won't have that.
@Uradamus7 жыл бұрын
If you don't have a graphics tablet, you should check out MyPaint for your line work needs. It has a really cool inking tool, which is sort of a semi-vector based tool, where it will drop down anchor points along your stroke and you can then move those anchor points around to correct it as well as change the dynamics settings for each anchor, such as pressure, tilt, and speed if I recall. Along each segment between two anchors will get interpolated between the dynamics values of each. You can even change out the brush or its settings and the stroke will update automatically. When you are happy with your stroke you then just hit the little confirmation check mark icon and that will finalize the line. Even with a tablet, I still find it super useful for saving time on finish line work, thanks to the adjustments it allows me to make, instead of redrawing a line a dozen times until I get it just right. MyPaint is also great for initial sketch work, since it opens up immediately with an unlimited canvas that you can start working on right away, the UI is rather minimal and easy to get out of the way, and it supports things like canvas rotation and mirror painting. I like starting in MyPaint a lot of times to sketch and do line work, then take my finished line work over to Krita to work on the coloring/painting side of things.

Anyone know where I can get a 3.1.2 tutorial? I've never used Krita before and I want to use it for animation but I'm having real trouble with the set-up. Erasers take forever to simply erase something even on full opacity and I don't know if there's an undo-redo tool somewhere so I don't have to use cmd-Z. I don't even see where all these brushes are kept, all I see is tools in the toolbox.
@martsstrugglewithdrawing24917 жыл бұрын
+Chess Dianthus Daunte well if you want to get full tutorial then checkout my other video kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2KomYqvmceXjM0 , but if you just want to add brush docker then go to settings->dockers->brush presets And about the undo redo I'm not sure why don't you like ctrl z/ctrl shift z but if you want like an eraser just hit 'e' on your keyboard
@martsstrugglewithdrawing24917 жыл бұрын
+Chess Dianthus Daunte also fro erasing on full opacity change your brush to fill_block/fill_circle
@cheshirelechat7 жыл бұрын
I don't know how I would use my keyboard when i'm trying to draw on my cintiq. Everytime I try to use cmd-z (ctrl-z doesn't undo for me for some reason) I have to put down my stylus/pen to use my hands and it's tedious, instead of just being able to press a button on the screen with my pen.
@martsstrugglewithdrawing24917 жыл бұрын
+Chess Dianthus Daunte well that's a bad habit to use just your stylus for everything but Ok, don't you have at least express keys on your cintiq? (Every cintiq has them) but if you really want to use your stylus for everything then just click edit->undo/redo. It's quite slow and ineffective, or you can just start using your other hand for express keys ;)
@cheshirelechat7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have a habit of using my cintiq on the left of my computer only since for some weird reason I find it hard to use on my left, which means my right hand is occupied by the pen and my left hand is too far from the keyboard but i'll try break this habit. And forgive me, but I have nae idea what express keys are or how to use them. I have a feeling they're the series of buttons on the cintiq though. Thanks for all the advice though.

Mart's Struggle with Drawing :D do you have a canvas size suggestion? So it's big enough to draw/paint detailed eyes but not so large it takes years to get anywhere haha
@martsstrugglewithdrawing24918 жыл бұрын
With painting you should always zoom out so you can see the whole canvas and paint till you can't add any more details from this "zoom level" then zoom one step in and paint as much as you can, and on, and on, and on... till the level of detail is good enough for you. NEVER zoom in on something(like an eye) and work on in for and hour, because with this approach you'll end up with unfinished painting and all of your time will be wasted on that one little detail that it's not even visible. Well when it comes to canvas the minimum for painting is like 3000x3000px, I prefer a3 size on 300 ppi (so you can actually print it later). When I'm doing something specifically for printing I'm working with at least 6500px on the smaller side. Also it depends on your computer, how powerfull is, so you can work without laggs. Well I hope this helps ;)
@silveracresstudio11268 жыл бұрын
Mart's Struggle with Drawing That's very helpful thank you! I usually draw the "skeleton" or lineart first to get a good idea of size and how much detail will be needed (depending on if I'm drawing something realistic or cartoon styled) but I've been using a smaller canvas than what you suggest! I'll definitely try it out ^-^ Thank you again!

Sadly Krita has changed the Brushes ever since Krita 4 Released. I'll be maing a new video on that but if you want these brushes you can still get them in krita by enabling legacy brush pack go to Settings->Manage Resources... and just move Krita 3 Default Resources, from inactive bundles to active bundles and after that you should have those brushes in your brush presets ;)
