The one thing I wish artists would do, for beginner and intermediate alike is to list what exact brushes and settings those have (provided they are free and not for sale) because that can really change how something looks. Same with colors chosen when showing how to shade/render. I sketched my own apple, but I am making up what colors are used here and somewhat where they go. I figured out the first 3 brushes, especially thanks to another comment, but the set that look like photoshop (IE the brush stroke is the image for the brush selection and not a picture of the brush itself) I can't find on Krita at all, so I'm betting those are imported. The textured brush I can not find and this isn't uncommon when watching other artists. Most use a textured brush and not the basic round brush and never say which one it is or often how to get it. Textured hair brush is NOT it. The cursor doesn't look the same and the effect is wildly different. For beginners too, brush settings are very very confusing. I did a lot of trial and error, especially on my blender brush because it over blends and makes colors look overly smooth and you need sharp angles and contrasts in most pics to make them 3-D looking Other than this, this is a great tutorial for people who know how to navigate Krita already and some basics under their belt. But please, fellow artists, tell us what brushes you use and their custom settings if they aren't out of the box on programs! Yes, talent and practice can make anything work, but brushes really do make an impact on a drawing, especially the texture.

Ok I’m not sure if I can explain this well, but I’m a super noob to art. So I colored the background and the image on top of it is white. So all the white reflection is the same color as my background. Like a little spot on my nose and forehead. When I try to color it in you can tell. Is there any way to erase these little spots or do I blend it. I’m not sure what tool to use in Krita to fix it lol
@vixxcelacea27784 ай бұрын
Old comment, but in case you still need help or someone has ended up in a similar situation, here is my advice: When working in art, you almost never use total black or total white except for extreme shadow areas and really bright highlights so that you can bring depth to the color shifts (even glow is rarely white unless it's small part in the middle of the brightest part). In Krita and many other programs, it's better to work on a light grey canvas so you can see this difference from the background. To do this, make a new document. Click custom document (it should be on this tab already to the left, but if not, go to it) Then in the mid upper portion of the window, you have dimensions and content as tabs. Click content. Under this you can see name, layers and background color. Click background color and select a light grey instead of stark white as your background. Then click create and make a new layer so you don't paint on the background layer. This way you can make a new background or delete the original grey one if you want an image to be transparent with whatever you draw on it. You can also use one of the blending brushes and gently blur the edges so that the highlight doesn't seem as harsh.

Are you using window capture with Krita? because when I'm using window capture it is like the Display Capture that captures everything on your screen. @vixxcelacea27784 ай бұрын
Krita (and other programs tend to do this too) keeps a set of the last 16 colors you used in the advanced color selector. So if your color you want is still in that list, you can find it there. If not, you can also use a color sampler tool (it looks like an eyedropper) and pick any color you've put on the canvas. That will select the color and you can put down the hex code under specific color selector (if it's not up, it's found under settings, dockers and specific color selector to be check marked) Looking at "color name" under the specific color selector will give a hashtag and a string of numbers and letters that correspond to the color. Also, under advanced color selector, you can click the recycle looking icon that will select the colors from the image and come up with a palette next to it. You can color sample any color in any image to find the exact color used. You can also get programs for your computer to do this with out krita being open if you want the hex or RGB code (they will lead to the same color, it's just a different way to categorize them.)

There is a lot of professional artists using Krita and there's no limitation to what you can and can't do, I'd say for digital painting is even better than Photoshop (thanks to its superior brush engine). You can check out David Revoy, I might not be the best example of really good artwork but you can check my Instagram and decide for yourself.
@theeraphatsunthornwit62665 жыл бұрын
@@martsstrugglewithdrawing2491 Thank you for your advice. I have seen david revoy's artwork earlier on youtube. His work is good but in my eyes it's like 8/10 or 9/10. @@theeraphatsunthornwit6266 That doesn't seem necessarily better but more of a different style(anime/mange or whatever you want to call it) and that's fine you have your preference. :) And if you're asking if you can do that in krita than 100% yes. There is no limitation regarding your style. Sadly since "anime" is no really my style of interests I don't know any artist from those circles, to show you some example. The closest I can get is probably Sara Tapes? (but she's still more of a western semirealism) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqPLmYKPfZaai5Y

You didnt explain anything. You didnt even show the difference between the first two types. You didnt show what brush was used or how it changed. You did many steps with no explanation, such as manipulating selections and making masks. Absolute beginner tutorials should not presume knowledge. Fixing this is as simple as removing video cuts and explaining absolutely everything as you do it, including things with are only tangentially relevant to the video topic.
