Im using Dokio 300W panels on an Ecoflow River Pro. Got two of those panels for under $220 each. The price (less than 75 cents per watt) was the biggest attraction. Now that I have them I see a nice secondary use as an awning roof for overlanding.

Useful information. I'm writing this about three months after the making of this vid. Right now, on Amazon these run from $200-$236 (two of them are marked down from $44-$60). The Jackery 60W panel is $180 and the 100W panel is $270. With the range of prices we're talking about, I'd likely still lean toward the "proper" Jackery panel for a Jackery charger, but I'd have to see what the characteristics are and see which is more in line with my uses. Again, this is all good info. Just don't expect to spend or save $150 on one of these options. There still isn't enough out there to give us more stratification of price points. It will come.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 жыл бұрын
The prices fluctuate constantly, during the winter / holidays the prices drop pretty good. During the summer you'll see a higher price. I have seen them around $160 and $170, sometimes even cheaper. You just have to find the deal at the right time.
@AJHart-eg1ys

@@Jasonoid I'm definitely going to keep an eye out, at least for the charger. The 500 is only $400 now, but that's still a little rich for my current usage. I think the 240 is $200 and the 300 is $300. I'll worry about panels down the road, and perhaps by then we'll have some solid options closer to what we consider budget.

@@AJHart-eg1ys You can try searching for used panels. Look for the ones with the highest effectiveness. One last thing foldable panels are too easy to damage. The glass ones are more stable n durable. You can get them from 100 watts to 400, 500, 600 or so. The less wattage the lighter they are if you are lifting them yourself. Be sure to check your wattage input on your generator. Look for max input so that you don't get anything higher than what your battery can take. Then you will need a chain kit (not a real chain😁) to connect them together. I damaged my ecoflow 160 watts in under 60 days. Had it on top of my suv w ties but it still banged on the rooftop. So the glass structure is what I am going to invest in next. Have an awesome day.🤗 Ps a lighter in weight and cheaper option w less lifespan are the flexible panels which can be glued in w proper sealant or taped w a really strong tape that's clear.🤗
@AJHart-eg1ys
@AJHart-eg1ys 3 жыл бұрын
@@factsmatter1172 I appreciate the information. I like in the North/Midwest, so a panel obviously isn't something I need to snatch up right away. I likely wouldn't invest unless I was going to spend a lot of time south. I'd like to say that I'm good with letting the technology continue to develop so that the price comes down on the current tech, but I'm noticing a trend the last half dozen years of companies basically establishing a price point for that introductory model, then keeping that point as new tech is introduced. Like with point-and-shoot cameras. They've kind of decided that the introductory model is $120. When they improved them from 16 pixels to 24 pixels, they didn't then offer 16 pixel ones at $80. They just got rid of 16 pixel technology and sold the "new low-end" model at the same $120.

With the ecoflow it’s unnecessary to get an XT60 connector as they (EF) include a MC4 to XT60 in the box. So just connect via MC4. Also gender goes by the pins not the shell. On the power stations it’s a male not female.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the correction, it seems I reversed the name of the adapter. The one pictured in the video is still correct. If your solar panel doesn't have MC4 connections then you will need an XT650 adapter of some sort.

@Jasonoid Are you familiar with the Dokio 300 and 160 watt solar panels? I’m interested in those two to power my EB150 and 70. I’m also looking towards the near future as I’m looking for one to provide power to an AC200p or EB240. Please tell me your thoughts.:

Ive heard mixed things about them. Price is great since they are half the cost of other portable panels, but I haven't tested them personally. Not sure about the output power vs rated power. I'm hoping to pick one up later this year but that probably doesn't help you since you want it sooner.

Eleceanta 120w, Baldr 120w, Rockpals RP082, are three of my budget panels that all have ETFE and work well. I have been testing some BIGBLUE 100watt panels, very slim and ETFT they put out good power, 85 to 90 watts.

Hi Jason, I have a serious dilemma. I'm on a very tight budget being disabled with bone marrow cancer. I can't take another Florida summer without cold drinks. I just bought a 35l portable car cooler. What is the best way to power it? Eventually, I'd like to have solar, generator and lithium batteries. I have a feeling something like a power station should be my first step. Please help me sift through all the options with the most affordable option to get me started. I've looked at a number of your videos and your spreadsheet, but my mind keeps getting turned around. Solar seems obvious for Florida (liked your video about not buying name package panels) and reasonably priced. Lithium battery, or power box and/ or what is needed to include car alternator. Hopefully, I've given you enough of a picture. Basically I need the cheapest way to obtain, store and safely process power for a refrigerator and small devices, like cell phones and cameras. Thank you in advance. Hopefully , you have a video, or can direct me how to keep a little cooler this summer.🥵

Going with the 614wh FFpower CN505 is a cheap way to run your fridge. You'll get good results! The coupon codes drop the price down every now and then so keep an eye out for a cheaper price under $400. You can buy it here: amzn.to/34GUQV2 Another great option to power your fridge would be to go with the Bluetti EB55 blue option. It charges very fast and has a larger inverter. I have been happy with the EB55. It's priced at $399 for a limited time using my discount code "JASONEB55" on the Bluetti website! shrsl.com/37zh2 Picking up any of the solar panels in this video will work with BOTH of these power stations. Then you could be able to power your fridge up and charge it with the solar panels. Hope that info helps :)

Any portable solar panels or charging stations made in the USA?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 жыл бұрын
Don't think so. Lifepo4 and lithium Ion batteries are all made overseas, not only in China but other countries too. As for solar panels. Battle born batteries are "assembled" in the USA with Chinese cells. You might be able to find some ridgid solar panels that are made in the USA. Most portable panels are made in China.

@@Jasonoid I chose the Anderson to XT60 And they sent me something else that did not fit. I returned it and re-ordered and they sent me One with a bigger connector end than the first time. I checked my ordering Selection and I was correct in what I ordered. I called Amazon and they told me that all of them are female connectors! Huh? Lol. but we know we need the male connector. I’m goning to try one more time with the link that you just suggested Thanks much

1:33 Is DC 7909 the same as 8mm? Technically, it's 7.9mm, but I was asking to see if this would fit the Oupes 600w solar generator I just bought. Oupes mentions it uses 7909, and this adapter is 8mm.

Just found you Jason and love the content. I have the Jackery 1000 and just ordered the Bluetti EB55 today. Both will be used in my van (self built). The Rockpals (newer) and the Baldr both look like good options for me. Is there a reason why you would choose one over the other?
@Jasonoid

The more watts you can get the better, the Baldr puts out more power so I'd recommend that. Other than power output they are very similar and you can go wrong with either one.
