9:49 "anything times zero is zero" "you can have 30 years of track record and make one bet that goes to zero and lose it all" this video is fucking perfection. Makes me laugh that jokes and pranks get millions of views, but a video like this, with little views, teaches us how to make millions... This is the difference between instant grat'fication vs delayed grat'fication.

Thanks for sharing this. The thing about being risk-averse is so interesting to me. I come from a culture of trying to get rich schemes. And your video kinda reminds me of Seth Godin's idea of the long road is the shortcut! Another thing that I find helpful in your videos is your examples and showing how different people think differently. That goes a long way into cementing the information.

Warren Buffet also says you get wealthy by “riding your winners”. But that implies you go heavy and over leverage on your most successful business….which by it’s very nature violates being “risk averse”. I take everything people say with a grain of salt.

I dont understand the example at 8:20 where he said that you have to increase your price from $100 to $200 to change your profit margin from 90 to 95. anyone can explain?
@DanielMartinez-kx1ix3 жыл бұрын

When you own a a company, you sell a service or a product. Each time you sell this product there are a few things to consider for every product you sell. This is marketing resources, cost of each product or amount of product used per service, payment of employees, taxes, ect. The more you pay just to get someone to buy a product the lower the profit margin. So by reversing this you raise the price. And here since it was raised to 200$ whatever the product is now makes more profit in the end raising the profit margins. Did that help?
@abhishekrajan96463 жыл бұрын
If you buy something for $10 and sell for $100 you make 90% profit. If you buy something for $10 and sell it for $200 you make 95% profit. So to take your profitability from 90% to 95% you have to double the selling price. This is what he meant.

A minor counter on being risk averse, rich people got rich because they took massive risks and time/age was on their side. Wouldn't you agree?
@AlexHormozi3 жыл бұрын
There’s always risk. It’s people who weigh it accurately who are rewarded. So in essence. It was low risk because they understood what they were doing. Why “the will to prepare” is more important than “the will to win” But super fair point.

On one hand you have people who say that you have to take huge risks if you want huge reward (such as starting a business vs staying at a 9/5 or college), on the other hand people like yourself say you have to be extremely risk adverse. Can the two be reconciled?
@debojunioradebayo24912 жыл бұрын
The mnemonic is very helpful. Many Thanks. On the last part about Risk aversion. I wonder whether it's useful to make a distinction between growing capital and preserving capital. The two skills are different. When you're growing capital you may take on risk that you would find inappropriate if you were preserving capital.
