I’m a professional record producer for 15 years, and musician my entire life, never made a cent that wasn’t from music, and I just finished work today. Came from the studio thinking about how stressed I am, how tough things get when the year is closing, so I decided to come to the gym to alleviate some stress and run a little, decided to put this video on and it was a godsend, im totally focused on my 2025, and my forties, and this is everything i needed to hear. I’m ending my 5 year engagement, giving the truck with 29% interest rate back to the bank, moving into an Airbnb/the car I’ll be purchasing with a little bit of money I have saved up, getting a mindless job, one that will take care of the x’s & o’s, while still using the painting business that I’ve grown to pay off all debts down to zero, I will live on nothing and study in order to enroll in college in the fall. It’s time to pivot and build the skills so I can be the man I’ve been saying I am for the last 15 years. PS I dropped out of school in eighth grade to become a homeless heroin addict. I’ve awakened to the fact character is only built through the hardest of hard shit & this is now The hard that I’ve now chosen!! I would love to shake your hand a decade from now when I have my doctorate in psychology. Thank you for being you, God bless. ✊🏼

@ashamane I would have never called myself an alcoholic, but I was a VERY heavy drinker... for about 12 years. If you hang around heavy drinkers, you will as well. YES, it's lonely without it, but when you decide to face your challenges without the bottle, you gain a lot of perspective. I came to the realization I was incredibly unhappy with who I was and used alcohol to mask that, to numb it... But one day, an especially hard day, I said, no booze, lets face this head on. It worked. It was far from easy, but it worked. Additionally, 75 Hard completely changed my relationship with alcohol. Good luck!

Alex great job on explaining what I’ve been trying to tell others around me. Why I want to work more. Why I need to stay focused. Why eating fat off the cow makes me complacent. How harder times makes and turns me into an animal. I’m 37 and now is not the time for relaxing and vacationing for me. The people closest to me make me feel like I need R&R because I “deserve it” and what that has done it has caused me to default back into the ways of the lazy. Not that I am a lazy person by any sorts it’s that there are days where I could be working more. That I just “chill” and do absolutely nothing. I don’t learn more in that time. I don’t watch more podcasts for more tangible knowledge. I don’t perform as optimally as I can. I don’t have the same “imma kick your ass” mentality that I have when it comes to work and competing against my peers. I don’t hold my self or my significant other to the standard that I KNOW her and I need to be at. And to stay there. I know what grinding and hard work is. I know mental challenges and physical challenges like no other. I put myself in positions to suffer so I can conquer. But these last few months those people around me try and tell me to take it easy. And that life is more than money. (Which I totally agree with this) but it’s rather that my want and NEED for challenging and rewarding work only comes when I’m ALL IN. And I now know that in my time on this earth that I can not have a lazy approach or laziness around me. I loathe it. Matter of fact- I use others people’s reluctance to hard work for motivation. It FUELS me. I see people taking it easy it makes me angry inside… it makes me have to be productive RIGHT ON THE SPOT, usually so they can get to moving and the longer they don’t- the more I double down. I feel I have a sickness to this. I’m going to be successful and I’m going to start today to make sure I am held accountable for my actions. Thank you for this video. It realigns me back with my heart and my brain will lead me there. I’ve started to cut off people from my life that serve no purpose for me … that serve to keep me buzzed or high or low energy or keep me at their level. People I thought I would be friends with for life I’ve not talked to for months now. I’m breaking past my limits and I’m coming for them. It’s right there. It’s truly attainable. Why not me. Why not now! I’m all in. Believe that!

Your father gave your some very important lessons, it was so heartwarming that your brought him up and gave him credit. I have been following for a while so I had only heard the tough love side of him. Thank you for making this video, it was very inspirational. I want to rewatch over and over.

This video is great and all the information inspires me. I used to be mentally strong and would have been able to do this before last year. My mom suddenly died from a heart attack (October 2023) right in front of me and I’ve never been the same since. I try so hard to battle depression and get better but it’s a struggle. I haven’t been able to accomplish anything this past year, it was a blur. Sometimes I feel like I’ve already failed and ruined my life. I’m 36 with only a BA and no direction on how to get started. I worry about the day I lose the people I have left and then I’m truly alone. I need to become strong and do better this year! I just can’t give up. Thank you for this video.

This is me. I feel seen. Almost 10 years ago I left my entire social group behind (the group of friends who I had largely lead everyday for our entire lives). I reconnect with two of them every now and then, but aside from my Wife, I’m alone. Alone at work, alone at rest. Hearing this shared experience stirs my emotions. I’m here listening, while on a mountain top, in -6F winds, doing handyman chores for a gazillionaire, because I’m Driven and exceptional. So are you.

Really important one: how do you cope with the ideea of not being or spending time with the family when you think about the lonely period? Having in mind that you know what you wanna achieve but thinking about parents that they grow older and older. Having the balance of the grind being worth, knowing that you shouldn’t change or focus on changing your parents but still want the best for them. It’s hard to o ur in words this one. Hope makes sense.
