The focus wheel, arghh just so cool. But yeah, defo not buying this .. yet, I think before I do I will practice cinematics basics with the newst Iphone and Osmo combo.

First of all a big bravo for your videos. Your channel gives me a lot of answers about the (new for me) micro 4/3 system. One month ago I got OLY OMD 10 ii and I was so happy for the IQ and the design until few days ago a friend suggest me to exchange my NIKON D700 with his PANA G80/85 . SO now I have two body of micro 4/3. My new G80 has two main advantage and one disadvantage. It's the amazing for video and the it's menus is so clear but the body itn't not as small as OLY . I'm happy with both and to gave up from FF. One question: I have two zoom 14-42 40-150 OLY & one prime 25 1.7 PAN . what is the best deal for a wide angle prime lenses?
@KimCruz15 жыл бұрын
hey man not sure why this was flagged as a 'potentially inappropriate comment' so sorry for the late response! for wide angle primes I recommend the 15mm 1.7, and the 17mm 1.8 which you see a lot of on my channel. There are other alternatives, the sigma 16mm 1.4 is a great one (but big), the 14mm f2.5- a bit old but still good, the 20mm 1.7- great optical quality but slightly slow focusing and a bit too narrow for me.. and the uber expensive 12mm 1.4... they are all great in their own way, but the 17mm 1.8, and the 15mm 1.7, 16mm 1.4 and 20mm 1.7 have the best balance of price and optical performance... the 20mm 1.7 being the best choice if you're ok with slightly slower focusing and slightly tighter field of view!

With the E-M10 mk III, there's one other feature that's AMAZING for travel photography - the EVF works well with sunglasses.. None of that templar cross polarization issue you run into with the E-M5 mk II and E-M1 mk II with polarized sunglasses. It also has a nice in-body tilt-shift like ability for those wanting to have straighter lines for stuff like architechture. It's also lovely for street photography thanks to it's tilting screen not being as obvious as a tilty-flippy screen can be with that "hey, he has a camera out and is taking pictures!" kind of vibe. As for the G9... Don't forget... OMG THAT EVF. Gawds, that is one awesome and epic EVF. As for the EM-1 mk II, it does have hybrid autofocus, which can be useful if you shoot demanding types of photography like wildlife or motorsports. Sure, there are rumours that a new one is coming soon (tm) but at the same time... I doubt people would regret the purchase, given that it's also seeing a lot of different sale prices as of late. Before the G9 came out, I wanted an E-M1 mk II myself.
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
interesting i never heard about the issue with polarized glasses! as the for em1ii, even though i like that camera and overall i think it has the BEST grip of any camera i've ever used (sorry G9 fans), i can't recommend it right now because the Em1iii is reportedly coming early next year!! I think it's best to hold off on that purchase in case it goes down in even more, or you've had more time to see if the specs on the new body are worth it over the older body!
@WhiteWulfe6 жыл бұрын
@@KimCruz1 While I can understand the logic in such a thought process, I base my decisions upon what's available on the market now... Otherwise I'd still be waiting for the G90/G95 that's clearly not coming, even though the rumours for it were of "reasonable assurance"... But the other reason why is with how the rumour mill likes to drag things out (especially the video card one, wow, they drag things out for MONTHS) I'd rather get something that's available now instead of playing the waiting game, because then you're perpetually waiting, instead of enjoying things. Hubby would also STILL be waiting for the E-M5 mk III that supposedly was to come out back in January 2018 at the very latest, and those were "high quality" rumours too. It's a calculated risk though. I knew Panasonic was coming out with.... Something... When I bought my G85.... Yup, turns out it was the G9... But here's the thing... By the time the G9 was readily available in Canada, I'd been enjoying my G85 for three months, and in that time I wouldn't have been able to save up enough to get a G9 anyways, so... ^_^;;;; As for the issue, most people are all "eh, I'll just lift my glasses" but being light sensitive I have two options when I go out - either keep the sunglasses on, or get some pretty bad headaches from the light (or get blinded by glare if asphalt is wet, or snowblindness if, y'know, snow's around and sun's out, etc). It's probably why I notice such more readily with cameras.

Can you make a video about how you set up the color profile and color grading? I tried to color grade cinelike d on G85 but it fell apart, wasn't sure if I sucked or it sucked.
@KimCruz15 жыл бұрын
hey man actually i don't do much color grading with these cameras because like you, my experience hasn't been good so I'm probably not the best person to ask... i HAVE seen some graded G7 footage that came out nicely though, but it's few and far between.... also worth mentioning, the footage is only 8 bit so that's another factor...

Both B&H and Adorama are offering excellent deals on MFT bodies and lenses in the holidays season. I recently received my 4th MFT lens, since I bought my Olympus O-MD EM10 II in July and one more lens is on it's way. This is the best time to buy a new MFT camera and lenses. It doesn't matter if you are a pro or a photography enthusiast (like me)...MFTs are a must have for everyone. They are so much fun. Do I regret having bought the gear before the holidays? Absolutely not. The saved money could not have compensated for the wasted time, which I would have...if I had waited for the deals. So...choose an MFT body and go for it and YES...I would rather choose Olympus's excellent IBIS over many other functions in Panasonic non-IBIS bodies. I recently shot portraits with the Olympus O-MD EM10 II with the Olympus 40-150mm kit lens at 1/50s...handheld and they were tack sharp. It doesn't get any better than that. Thank you very much for your time and effort if anyone read all the rant above. Love his channel and it's presentation and since I can't find anyone with similar interest nearby... have to blurt it all out online.

Keep a sharp eye on prices. The Gh5 only recently came down to $1497. Rumors are that the G9 is likely to drop below the current $1297. I’m going to buy one of these, but I might wait a month or so to see where the bottom is.

what are your thoughts on the Panasonic gx9? (I would mostly use it for taking pictures)
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
hey man it's a good camera! however, if it's more an incremental upgrade from the gx85 and if i was shopping for a street camera at that price, id probably look for a gx85 used just coz i'd probably save a lot and spend on lenses! if you want to buy new go ahead but make sure you look around first for a used gx85 to make sure the price difference isn't too much!
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
I should also mention that the gx9 comes with a great kit lens though! the 12-60mm 3.5-5.6 is worth it! at $900 that's not bad at all i think it's actually worth it if the gx9 comes with that lens! if not, the gx85 is better!

@@KimCruz1 Thanks for answering! Yeah I was also thinking about grabbing either the gx85 or the olympus omd em10 mark 2 and adding the leica 15mm summilux lens to the package. (But the L monocrome d filter of the gx9 looks sooooo good)

G85 vs G7: Pros - IBIS, weatherproofing, quieter shutter, no anti-aliasing, better kit lens, no 30 minute time limit, battery grip possible, SD card placement, e-stabilization, dual I.S., L.monochrome, 9 v 8 fps. Cons - Bad mike jack placement, costs more, worse battery life, panorama buried in menu, weighs 95g more.
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
summed up pretty well!

Department store telescopes include a cheap junk eyepiece so they can advertise 600x on a scope that is better at 40x. People who don't know better think 600x on a toy telescope is the way to go. The marketing for digital cameras is the same when it comes to megapixels. I don't like that the G9 has 20 megapixels instead of 16. 16 is plenty. With smaller pixels you get worse low light performance. Imagine the low light ability of a full frame camera with 16 megapixels. Instead they use pixels that are barely larger than the MFT pixels and then they claim to have way better low light performance when it is barely noticeable because of the tiny pixels.
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
yeah honestly not much difference in the 20 vs 16 megapixels lol.. but in terms of low light, generally each new sensor just gets better at low light so even though it's at 20 vs 16, the 20 can actually match it which is a feat in itself! just a little over a decade ago we had dslrs at 6.1 megapixels barely shooting over 800ISO lol.. these days it's a very different story and that's good for all of us!
