To clarify for those who missed it…this is NOT my house. it’s my Dominican Family’s home. Yes, it is expensive for many dominicans and the monthly wages are low..however this is doable for their family and home prices are increasing.

You can own amazing house in Santiago for 250k which isn't bad price in comparison to the house you're buy vs what you can get for this price in the capital. Many of my family have bought and move there cuz the price for everything is cheaper than in Santo Domingo.

If you earn around 2000 USA dollars a month you ate consider to be rich here. I am from Santiago DR. You can get a nice appartment for 500 or a great house for 700 and with the rest 1,300-1,200 you can pay all services and eat really well with no stress.

Very nice house. I think $650 dollars is a great deal for tourists. Or if you lived in the USA, retired, moved to DR and getting your retirement $$$ sent there. But as far as i know Dominicans there dont make dollars so $30k pesos is a lot of money. Sometimes people dont even make that per month.

I live around here and I can confirm that this is a great area in terms of safety, and quality homes. HOWEVER, the inner roads are always and I mean always messed up. I have lived around Villa Maria for 5 years now and there is absolutely ALWAYS 1 or 2 streets that are completely undrivable unless you have an SUV or don't mind going offroad with a lowrider. So many rich people live around there and for that to be kind of a norm is just baffling to me. Other than that, amazing spot nonetheless.

santiago is a good middle ground between the less developed, quieter puerto plata, and the hectic nightmare of a big city that is santo domingo. the fact that both other cities are relatively close by is a bonus. i was born and raised in puerto plata and love it to the death, but if i absolutely had to pick somewhere else to live it would be santiago. Santiago's cost of living is also cheaper than santo Domingo's, but with a comparable level of development.

Guys stop telling her it’s expensive for Dominicans. I’m pretty sure her videos are mainly for ppl living outside the country interested in knowing how much it would cost them to live in DR. Obviously if you live in DR you already know how much things cost and your going to get something affordable to your budget. And she’s not saying that the house is cheap comparable to the Dominican salary. Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure she’s saying it’s cheap comparable to the salary and what ppl pay living outside of DR. Because so many ppl are interested in moving or living there so they want to know the prices and what you can get for the price. It’s annoying seeing so many ppl telling her “Dominican don’t even make 38,000 peses a month a lot of times” ok but that’s not her point in the video and that’s not what she’s saying. To a Dominican it may be expensive to a gringo it’s not because here our rent is double sometimes more than double than that and the house would be half the size. Thank you for your videos! My husband is Dominican and I am a gringa and love watching your videos living in DR! Blessing to you and your family

Omg you are comparing apples to Oranges!!! This video is amazing i will say that, and thanks for showing our beautiful conuntry. But first of all, more than half of Dominicans do not make half of that amount!!! Shes giving the amount in USA dollars which to me doesnt work for Dominicans but retirees who want to live in DR. I am sure here in the USA eventhough rent is high people have comfortable jobs and can afford to pay. I pay $2,000 in Westchester county New York which you might think is alot but i also have a good job that is what this country provides , OPPORTUNITIES. Please visit DR and you will understand, like seriously ? Comparing DR to CA jesus.

It’s very common here! I know at first it’s weird to see but most homes have it. it’s just for added security from petty theft or more of a deterrent, but we’ve never had any issues.

$650 is a lot for a 2 bedroom apt. I live here in Santiago and you can get better prices and location for a 3 bdr apt. Between 400 - 550 You can find a 3bdr apt in a decent better location. Is the apartment recently build? Does the place have a pool or extra ameneties?

dee d-If you compare the price for rent versus the price of the house, although the purchase price is certainly affordable, I don't see the justification to tie down thousands of dollars when you can rent for so cheap. Rents in the states for that type of house depending on the area could range anywhere from $4,000-$8,000 a month, I live in Miami, and you can't even get a room for $650, right now on average price for a room starts at around a low $750-$1000 US dollar. I anticipate that there will be a worldwide shortage of housing. I am seeing the trend heading towards that direction.
