I've been building up a collection of vintage Star Wars At-St's or Scout Walkers for a while and have plans to make a custom project with one of them. Before I can do that I need to work out what I have got and if I have enough to make a complete Chicken walker.
In this video I also cover how to remove the head off a Scout Walker, a question I am often asked.

It's interesting with Star Wars toys that have that sort of stains and yellowing that they don't look wrong. It actually adds a bit of character to the toys.

The AT-ST is why I always liked that dark gray mini-rig from Kenner, looking like a Red-Eyed AT-ST head with deployable wings.

Who remembers the "Expanded Universe" Novels from the early 80ties concentrating on Lando carlrissian of L. Neil Smith (the other was Han Solo from Brian Daley) ? The cover of the "Starcave of Thon Boka" featured some At-ST Heads with a sort of Tie Side wings (The illustrators used Kenner toys as reference, as a Kid you knew from the first view ).. I always find it a nice idea since it kinda give it a "Mini-Rig Appeal"

When I saw the title I thought you were going to use the broken toys to make a diorama of the aftermath of the battle on Endor.

Hey Dave I cannot believe another week has gone by already. Looking forward to your custom project when you get everything together. We have drifted into another cold spell here in middle Canada, -34°C (before windchill)...supposedly close to 0°C by Monday....so no complaints....haha Take care

6:44 That's a spring for a TP holder. I kid you not. You ever have an At-St spring go wrong, go get a cheap TP roll holder. Grab the part the roll tube goes on, and snap it in half (CAREFULLY). I used one to repair my 12" R2D2 with secret plans after I managed to step on his secret door button.

In the beginning of your video with everything laid out and all the figures put around it. It would make a great diorama for a display. Like the Ewoks are taking all the imperial parts and trying to build structures to reuse the left over destroyed junk. As clever as we know the Ewoks really are. Great video as always, can't wait to see what your custom consists of!!!

Great way to start a Sunday morning with a video like this, you really are the toy equivalent of the A-team stuck in a barn with a pile of bits to build something great with. This has also reminded me I need to pull my finger out and get some ink to finally get stickers printed for mine 👍

Can't wait for the custom. I hope it's the Mando one you are doing. Maybe you could make some custom vehicles from the spare heads, like an At-St version of the roboskull putting wings instead of side guns like an ATieSTie Fighter. Lol.

Endor would have been a mess after the battle - yes, there would be wrecked speeder bikes, AT-ST's, AT-AT's for starters - and the stuff nobody seems to have taken into account: at least some of the Death Star II, and various space debris caught up in the explosion. Let's just say Endor would have to be earth sized for the ease of moving about on it, so the Death Star would probably be a bit smaller than our moon. Imagine a large chunk of that, and a load of smaller bits picked up in it's gravity well, falling to earth... Not all of it would burn up in the atmosphere, either. Er, I think I've thought about this a bit too much. I can guarantee that somewhere, somebody with far more time, pencils and graph paper than me, has worked this out precisely.

I was lucky enough to be given some pieces of Star Wars toys when I was a kid, so I took so black paint, scraped up pieces of it, and really made my collection look like it was star WARS. It's funny today to see companies selling a version of the tie fighter that comes damaged. It's like they're just catching up to the fun I used to have with damaged toys.

Those broken legs - if you have all the pieces and the break is clean, you can solvent weld with MEK to almost original strength, I've been doing that a lot with stuff I've been gathering. Not all plastic used is the right type - Y wing struts aren't affected by MEK, at least the broken ones I have, but I've literally just repaired parts of an ATST using the method - the little prongs that hold the head on. You need to apply the MEK with a brush carefully so it gets drawn into the join with capillary action; and then hold with pressure for a good while. Really works great if the plastic is the right type, and superior to glue which always relies on mechanical grip. I'm dying to try it on TIE fighter wing release clips, but haven't got any with the broken piece still present 😔 I'm actually looking for a spare half ATST head, and a part of the body - only because the broken pieces weren't there to weld in. Also a y wing front gear, broken would do if it had the piece I need to weld - don't suppose you have those parts spare for sale? If so let me know, and I could poss email you through your website 🙂

"Clagging" was a term used by the set design of 1979s Alien. Everything on the Nostromo set appeared to have some function, form and purpose. Re purposing, piecing together is a creative endeavor of it's own. Great job 👍.
