I have tried to tell you this over a year and a half ago but I don't think you read my post. If you take a plastic soda bottle, cut out the bottom of it and thread your rope up thru the bottom to the top then super glue the bottle to the magnet then drill some holes in the bottle so it will sink faster. I have NEVER lost a magnet or even got one stuck using this setup. I love all of your videos. Keep up the GREAT work!

I use a keeper on a magnet. For a Neodymium magnet iron sheet metal is best with a side pull tab. The keeper keeps out all the tiny metal pieces and sticking to metal surfaces. I have also used a plastic spacer too which allows the sheet metal to be slid off easily. To remove a magnet just lift up one edge and slide some wood/plastic under one edge to increase the airgap.

We used to have a magnet that looked similar to these not near as powerful. As a kid I would drag it across the yard on s string and pick up nails and small magnetic rocks. We probably got it from my grandfather. He was a hunter and fisher.

Chin; I was a YT magnet fisherman who put the top part of a plastic water bottle (or soda bottle) on his magnet to keep them from getting hung-up. His rope went through a hole in the cap and the bottle acted as a shield over his eyebolt and the magnet.

A very fun and informative video - thanks for that. And the moment you checked on the "older" european coins: Five Deutschmarks! We in germany used to call these coins (not the 5 Mark notes, though) "Heiermann", deriving either from the fifth letter in the hebrew alphabet (HE) or from the payment of fishermen (which was called "Heuer").

The neat thing about this video is looking over your shoulder at the things you've chosen to keep through your treasure hunts. Can you do a video to show some of those treasures? Most if not all high quality stuff is made with non-ferrous metals which are not attracted to magnets. I was surprised the watch was picked up, couldn't have been a good one.
