9:00 WAIT! I “have” found whole sand dollars on the east coast! North east coast on Little Talbot Island…just never “south” east coast 🤣🙃 Also, 20:30 and 21:10 are "Large Strigillas" Thank you @shellstories for the correct ID!

Thank you for taking me with you! I really enjoy the video shots across the beach, looking across the waves as the sun comes up, seeing the assortment of shells from a different perspective than the usual downward shell-hunting perspective. You have a wonderful way of sharing the beauty of the whole experience! I hope you and your family have fully recovered, and I'm glad your DH rarely gets sick -- that keeps you from violating the "rule" that only one parent shall be sick at a time! HUGS

Aww, thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the different perspectives--sometimes it doesn't always happen but I'm trying. Yeah my husband is a rockstar for not getting sick often - it's a rule we all live by (or at least we try right? lol). Have a great week!

Hi Roxann, you’re sounding much better! I hope you and your family are truly on the mend now. There was a ton of lovely shells; I must admit that’s unexpected for high tide! Your arcs and scallops are always lovely, but I don’t think I’d seen any Spiny Paper Cockles before, they are really cool! I think the Scotch Bonnets and little Lions Paws were the firm favourites; what a wonderful collection! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻

Hello Maddie!! It was so nice to be out again shelling! Almost 100% thx 👍🏼 Low tide on the east coast is not as important as the west coast for the most part although there is one place in Palm Beach I do try to go more at low tide b/c of the rock pools. I was so happy to be back at the beach and I knew it was going to be at high tide but that’s the morning I could escape lol. I was a little surprised I could what I did but I did walk for 4hrs 😅🐚 Anyways, take care and happy shelling this week! I went to a shell show yesterday and got some goodies and I’m still drooling over my buys! Working on a short video of it 👍🏼🐚

@ Good info, and well done on your four hours of walking so soon after recovering! Ohhh can’t wait to see what you got from the shell show?!! I’ve never seen a Florida shell show or what’s offered there, so I’ll be very interested!

I pray your situation will work out for you both 🙏🏼 With a challenge, always comes new strength & growth in faith-and when it’s behind you, “wisdom.” “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7) Blessings ❤🙏🏼

I sent that comment before I saw that great sequence of the waves crashing against the rocks. Your videography and editing have gone from good to WOW! I appreciate your way of tossing in those "teaching moments," like with the female crab (maybe a shed?). When I took elementary students beachwalking, I'd say that the apron of a male crab looks like the Washington Monument, while a female's apron is like the Capitol building. Did you know that a young female crab's apron is just a triangle (like the Great Pyramid) until she's produced eggs?
@FloridaBeachWalks18 күн бұрын
Oh wow thx for the additional information about the crabs! Nature is SO amazing & I love your teaching style. That type of analogy really makes it "stick" for kids. Thx for the additional complement and like I said on the other comment...I'm trying :-) Many thanks!

I think the shells you picked up at 20:30 and 21:10 could be Strigilla carnaria Tellins (Seahorse and Co website has great photos in their shell ID guides!) I found a few that looked like this too and had no clue what they were, and this seems like the closest match. The texture of the shells looks different to me than a Rose Petal Tellin you would expect to see on the west coast, though I see how the rougher east coast surf could also wear down the shell causing it to lose it's more elongated shape making it to look similar to the Strigilla species. IMO the Nautica you found is a Gaudy Nautica, though again it could be surf worn to the point that you can't see the markings of the Florida Natica too well anymore. So many awesome finds today, thank you for sharing. I hope the illnesses let go of you guys for good!

Wow thank you so much for all this information- I really appreciate your input and guidance. I will definitely be researching all of this!! I love learning & relearning where I need to. I do my best on my own but it’s so nice to have some additional input ❤🐚 Thank you, THANK YOU! Yes, I hope we can catch a break from being sick-we keep passing around different germs and going through additional rounds of yuck! 😢

Just wanted to pass this info along to you too since you helped me. I saw Brian from Solace in Shelling find the same nautica in his latest video and this was his reply...which makes sense, I've heard before some shells can be darker in color depending on environment (what they eat): "Yeah, this shell is quite interesting... When I found one in 2021, I spoke with my friend, who is a professor of Geology, and invertebrate paleontology in Florida to see if he could provide some info. He said that the shell is a pale color form of Naticarius canrena, and that the pale forms seem to be from clean sandy sea floors and the dark ones live on muddier sea floors with lots of organic matter - super interesting! I presume this specimen is also the same, but not 100% sure" -Solace in Shelling

@@FloridaBeachWalks For sure, I'm sure diet differences between the east and west coast contribute to why the same species look different, not to mention the east coast is notorious for those "mystery" shells. Thank you so much for sharing🙏
