Hey from New Zealand ,I used to be so anti soft tops as a Mal rider ,then i rode one a 9 ft log I think and dam what a cool board to ride at that price compared to glass boards and basically industructable and proven on the North shore at pipe by @JOB

They definitely have their place. some of the new shapes have made them suitable for better surf too which has been great for a lot of the groms in our town.

Great video- how is this vs. the 8'0 Funboard? Considering either one.

How tall was Sophie at the time it was recorded? Contemplating on whether to get a 6’ or a 7’ for my daughter. She’s 4’2 and weighs around 30kg. Thoughts?

I just asked Matt, Sophie was about 75lbs here. He suggests the 7', it will be more stable and give her time to grow into it.

I started with an 8ft log from catch surf. I have really gotten good at catching waves in the obx. almost catch every wave i try for on some days. was hoping to get a shorter board that i can work on some maneuvers with but am having trouble deciding between a skipper 6 6 or a funboard that is 6 ft. I weigh 190-200 lbs and am 5 ft 10. outer banks waves are what i guess most would call small. do you have any advice between a skipper or a funboard to transition to?

If you want to work on maneuvers, the fun board may be a good next step. Not that you can't throw some turns on s Skipper, but if you want to continue progressing like it sounds you do, then the fun board will be a good route to go.

Hi there, is there one board (my wife will only let me buy one) that I as a dad can glide with (can’t surf at all) and my kids as well? My kids are 7 and 9. I weigh 95 kg so a good floater would be prefered. 😁 where we live we only have really small waves (max knee high) O and to make it a bit more dificult… I don’t think that a 7.0 is the max that would fit in the car 😁

If you are all learning to surf, a longboard soft top is a great option. The longer you can fit, the more float you'll have to get into soft waves early and get comfortable standing up. You'll be able to have fun on it for years in smaller surf, even if down the line the kids decide they want something smaller and more sporty you will still be able to break this out on smaller and softer days.
