I agree with you! I have had a right swollen ankle for over 10 years and no doctor could ever give me any reason it might be swollen and not the left. I did find one source on KZbin that randomly mentioned it in another information filled video, but Dr. Berg definitely gets detailed with his explanations.

My right ankle and foot swells up most days, so wearing a right shoe is painful. I hadn’t been told about potassium, or about eating more greens. I was told to keep my foot raised above my heart as often as possible which often made no difference. I do eat salads using a variety of greens including pea shoots, raw broccoli etc. My ankle and foot slimmed down every few days, now I know why! Thank you so much Doctor Berg. 😍

i have suffered with chronically swollen ankles and feet for more than 24 years - based on your advice I have cut out sugar including carbs, cows milk and I have started eating LOTS more potassium-rich vegetables. Every day I juice one avocado with 2-3 celery stalks with xylitol & unsweetened almond milk. I noticed positive changes in a matter of days and now several months on I have greatly reduced the swelling and the discomfort in my feet/ankles. Im not fully healed yet but I'm improving every day. Thank you Dr. Berg for your amazing advice & for telling us things that my own GP couldnt be bothered to tell me or jist didnt know to tell me

In my experience with my swollen ankles, increasing my potassium definitely helped them go down a lot. However, too much potassium is toxic and can cause kidney stones and heart attacks. So what’s the sweet spot for extra potassium without hurting yourself? Can’t do labs for potassium weekly.

Dr. Berg - Thank you so much for that explanation. I live a very sedentary lifestyle since I work from home and hardly ever go out. Because of the pandemic I gained about 90 lbs that I had lost previously in 2018. Now my right ankle swells up at times and my left is fine, but has a tendency to swell up. I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease and im currently taking steps to reverse it. Thank you again for this explanation - I now have a better understanding and you have calmed my anxiety a bit. Thank you again Dr Berg for all of your information and diagnostic videos. I have been IF and no sugar for 5 months now. Had leaky gut and edema for 1 to 2 years prior. I first used L glutamine and vit D3 to fix the leaky gut issue. Then IF and Keto brought me from 210 lbs to 185 lbs in about 3 months. I feel 20 to 30 years younger. I also started using boron to stop arthritis inflammation from a hip fracture repair 24 years ago. Blood pressure is returning to normal. All this from watching your videos. Thanks for adding years back to my life. I have seen many people die with these issues going undiagnosed for decades. Health adds so much to quality of life.

Also had a pain going through the repaired hip. On and off for years, it felt like a nerve on the front side of my left hip joint. I tried your trick of massaging the pancreas because that is where random left side spasms could be emanating from. It worked, also had some unusual spasms in the pancreas for a few weeks. No more ghost hip pain now.

I already started to reduce rice, pasta, potatoes etc, now eat salads and add olive oil and some chicken breast, beets help reduce BP, I eat liver friendly foods like broccoli, beet, dandelion, artichoke on the salads, but I dont have enough oil to get into ketosis, I do drink coffee and tea, apparently coffee can make this problem worse

I decided after halfway through the first Covid year, I was at 208 lbs! and had some elevated blood pressure, to go on intermittent fasting (well started with a water fast, 5 days) and low carb, it worked, actuallly the first time, I have tried excersise, all kinds of diets, etc. been over 150 since my 2nd and last child, had really difficult fibroids, was anemic, had to have hysterectomy, which helped that...but had not been able to lose for years, now I have lost 29 lbs! and still working on it, just not as extreme on the low carb as I was, but still at least staying at 177-180 and trying to get down more, need to go more on the veg and low carb. but still, it has really helped a lot...I feel much better most of the time, still have some edema in ankles though, which I have had a long time, have had sprained ankles, and was told I have anterior tibial tendonitis from having a very high arch...so there is that.

Got the toxic fluids out your moving upwards towards heart release. It worked my legs would be wrapped each session. That helped loosen compress the tightness to move the fluid. I do have to continue keep up doing my massages and watch foods high sodium make sure I eat my salads it had been 2 years there is no cure Lymphedema however I do wear compression socks daily. My Dr actually sent me for ultra sound of my arteries for blood clots and I was consistently told that my potassium was fine and that I'd likely have edema for life. The ketogenic lifestyle has given me back my life. A high quality life. But listening to your videos, Dr. Berg and learning about all the macros or bodies need daily have been even more life changing. It's so hard when ppl remark on my amazing transformation and want to know what I've done. Because it's a multi step process to reverse all the damage that we've caused ourselves, mostly inadvertently due to our traditional Dr's not teaching us. It honestly should be a crime at this point in history.

Unfortunately Angela, most doctors are not aware how big a role nutrition plays in our bodies because they do not receive much if any classes in nutrition. Doctors are pretty much clue less in this area. The "modern medicine" pretty much abandoned anything holistic with the advent of the development of the pharmaceutical industry. Instead, they focus on drugs and development. I am not saying that we have not benefited from the advent of drugs, but not all of us need drugs as the primary solution to what ails our bodies. Sometimes it's just getting real about what we are eating.

Yes don't ignore a swollen foot I'm a 41 yr old male in fairly good physical shape and once or twice a year i would get a painful swollen left foot, then one week i started having bad heart burn that would radiate to my left arm after eating takeaways lasting 6 hours i made an appointment to see DR, it turns out i was having mild heart attacks. i spent 2 weeks in hospital my artery's, were all clogged and narrowly avoided triple bypass surgery and had my artery's drilled out and 3 stents placed.

I see family and friends slowly killing themselves with food. Some I have seen die when they shouldn't have. @@gerofiore9695 I'd subscribe to Dr Berg's channel and look at the beginning keto videos in his archive. Also, I recommend Dr Jason Fung, who has a great book on diabetes. He has another on obesity and one on fasting. There's a lot of crossover. Finally, for the best in-depth videos on the web-in my opinion-there's Dr Sten Ekberg. His videos are like classroom lectures for content, but he doesn't bore you to death like classroom lectures might. I don't remember if he has a starter set of videos, but he probably does, and I'm sure they're among the best. WRT the specifics, I think it would be worthwhile for you to get a fasting insulin, fasting glucose and A1c test. Your doctor can calculate your Homa-IR or you can with info from the web, and you can compare these numbers with info from the web. They'll give you insight into how worried you should be about your metabolic situation. My guess is, however, that you should be if you think you should. I still hold a grudge against the doctors I saw who didn't tell me about my metabolic situation until I was diagnosed diabetic YEARS after I had symptoms and did not recognize them. Finally, I really do recommend Dr Fung's books. I listened to three of his books while out walking in the sun, which is a good complement to fasting.

I use scissors to cut into a quart jar filling to just below the rim, fill with 100 proof vodka. Add a piece of parchment to top before closing with lid & ring. I set it in a lower cupboard for 6 wks, strain into a glass measuring cup, then into another container. Usually a smaller jar an I store mine in the fridge. I often fill a smaller tincture bottle with a dropper to carry with me. I have used Everclear before, but it's not necessary, 100 proof is better. I add 3-4 drops in a shot glass of filtered water when I take it. 😊

Well I actually just stumbled on your blog, video, not sure what you call it. EXTRMELY important information for me concerning left ankle swelling. I have been trying to find out the cause of my ankle swelling for months. I have a vascular doctor who's only advise is to wear compression stockings. I keep saying to anyone who will listen that I am not looking for a band aid. I want to find out what is causing the swelling instead of having my concerns be put off and told just wear compression stockings. I even have a best friend, an RN, who is at this point frustrated with me because I keep saying I want to find out WHY I have the swelling; even she just tells me to wear compression stockings. Like you said, treating the symptom and not the CAUSE of the actual problem. Finally a doctor with eyes wide open as I would think all doctors would be but I can tell you this is NOT THE CASE! I want to thank you for talking about this issue.

Great epsiode!! Excerpts: If the right ankle and foot are more swollen, the problem could be with the liver. If the left ankle or foot is more swollen, the problem may be with the heart. If both ankles and feet are swollen, the problem may be more of a blood sugar situation, like diabetes. But there are many other potential causes of edema, including: • Chronic venous insufficiency • Lymphedema • Kidney problems • Advanced lung problems The most common causes of edema in the ankles is diabetes or prediabetes, or the person is low in potassium and has high sodium. In this situation, I don't think you should cut down on your salt, rather increase your potassium by consuming more greens. Thank you Dr Berg!!
