I took 10mg Amlodipine for 10 years. I got tired of dealing with edema, and requested to be removed from the medication earlier this year. When I first got diagnosed with hypertension, I managed the edema with diet and exercise. As I got older, I found it to be more difficult to manage. It forced me to stay away from cured meats, and foods loaded with sodium. While I was grateful that the medication was helping me shift my dieting choices, the edema made it impossible to wear nice shoes. It's so nice to see the bones in my feet and hands now.

Yay! I also have recently woke up without sore joints throughout my feet that make me walk like I’m 98. I didn’t realize it initially-it took me a minute to realize what was different, but it was amazing to not have to work through the pain to get “right” enough to walk normally. I’ve also had noticeably less back pain and stiffness. (I won’t describe how I realized that one. 😂) If this is how things will progress, I will be a faithful carnivore for life! Thank you! I recently started working out and the doctor prescribed me gabapentin for fibromyalgia and nerve pain caused by nerve root compression in my spine. I came here because I looked up swelling in legs and had no idea that it could cause this. I have been on gabapentin before and this never ever happened to me before. I literally gained 15 pounds this week and have been exercising a lot.

For years i was in chronic backpain and was on up to 8 painkillers a day and it seemed the more i took, the worse the pain got so, oneday when i was about to take my first 2 of the day i looked at the bottle and wondered what would happen if i only took the 1st two and no more that day - well, to my surprise, the pain went away but, i thought this was only a fluke and decided, without telling my Dr., to keepp doing this and it worked. I went back to see her and told her what i was doing and i asked her why didn`t she tell other patients the same and her reply was people expect us to dish them out as sweets and that`s what they do. My worry now is that i`m now on beta blockers and a heart tab called Lixiana and wondered if i`d get away with stopping them too. I`ve been breathless since i took the beta blockers, would that go away if i stopped them as its stated on the pack that breathlessness is a side effect. What about the heart tab if i stopped them too ? Any help would be appreciated if others stopped them too.

I was on such a high dose of oxycodone, it gave me such bad edema and induced near kidney failure - I developed calsifylaxis, on both of my ankles; which, would have lead to amputation or death, if I didn’t get it under control. I was out on sabaxone, as an alternative. Which, though it didn’t give me the same severity of edema - I still got it, along with ulcers in the exact same spots, as the calcifylaxis area/scars were. Now, because I have nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (kidney disease from heavy metal toxicity, due to barium contrast) - I can’t even take supplements, without edema or pain, in my feet; as well as many medications.

Please DO NOT take Actos that stuff is deadly , was on it myself , gained 30lbs and then read up on it , it's nasty , there are many other Diabetic Meds than are better , just give them a try I won't recommend any because theyre pretty much trial and error and what is good for me might not be good for you , but Actos is good for no one, take care.

I was just told by my pharmacist that my BP med Amlodipine causes swelling in lower legs and ankles, feet which I've had for a long time. The pharmacist told me to talk to my Doctor, which I did and was told my BP takes 1rst priority over foot/leg swelling! So damn rediculous! I just stopped it completely. I still take 1- 50 mg Hydralazine 3×day and 2 lisinipril 2× a day. How can I get off these BP meds altogether! I'm tired of doctors not listening..and I know you will

Amlodipine? OMG. my legs got so swollen, I couldn't even walk anymore. I even took him your list of safe BP meds. 🤪 Now my husband is taking Tamsulosin 2 capsules daily. My question is could the Amlodipine contribute to my husband’s prostate issues? Cough syrup is a major problem as well. Anyone else out there experiencing the same with Amlodipine? Thoughts, Dr. Berry? Thank you for this video. Could you discuss the relationship between inflammation & edema/lymphedema? Also could you do a video on lymphedema, not just related to cancer, but lymphedema without cancer. It took me years to get a correct diagnosis of lymphedema. It seems that doctors only look at lymphedema as occurring with cancer, specifically breast cancer. While I went undiagnosed my lymphedema went from stage 1 to stage 3. Now that I am diagnosed it is still very difficult to get the proper treatment. My insurance company covers compression garments, but that is all they cover & there is still a huge co-pay of about $800.

I am now 2 months postpartum and the swelling in my feet has diminished, but in my ankles and legs it still continues to be painful and I feel tingly nerve pain sometimes too. So how are you doing now? Did you quit taking those 4 or did they switch you to something else? There were 2 on this list.. the Gabapentin and Trazodone for sleeping.. I quit taking the Gabapentin and about 2 weeks later the swelling went away in my legs. What was upsetting for me was my cardiologist prescribed a water pill for me to take to get rid of it, not even looking at the list of medications I was taking or gave no thought to that aspect, I was having to go pee a million times a day because of what he prescribed, just adding to the medication list and making thing more difficult, after two weeks I quit taking what he prescribed. He told me afterword, Yeah Gabapentin can cause edema ... Just curious your path.

Thank you for the tips on medication. I have edema and I have been in care for several months now. I go to wound care each week and my legs are wrapped with four types of wraps. Everything was going along fine and a couple of days ago, I noticed my legs were itching and stinging. I didn’t think of it at the time but it got worse. This morning, upon waking up, my legs felt like it was stinging and quite sore. I looked under the wraps and found blood on the gauze. Looking further into it, I notice a number of sore spots. I took all the wrapping off and my legs were a mess with sores all over, torn skin and fluid leaking from it. I took several pictures but I don’t know if I should post them here. It is pretty gross looking. I am contemplating going to the ER and go from there. I am on several medications and the one’s you mentioned, I do not take. However, there is one medication I take for blood pressure and that is Metoprolol Succinate ER 25mg once per day. There is another medication I am on and that is Duloxitine or Lyrica 60mg, once per day. I have been on it several months.I was put on it due to inflammation and fibromyalgia. Could this be a problem? I am afraid that infection will start in and that will not be good. So, doctor, what do you think?

@@grandmajane2593 HI: I did go and I was given an antibiotic which helped the infection and overall, the many visits to wound care each week, legs wrapped like a mummy did help. The sores are gone but I was told that this problem has to be watched. My glucose was tested and I was told that I was pre-diabetic. My level was 149 and prior to that, it was around 100. My weight was also quite elevated. My doctor did not put me on insulin and just said to me that I have to lose some of that weight and watch my sugar. I am following the doctors orders and lost 20 plus pounds. The swelling of my legs have gone down but I still have red areas on the lower part. Once again, I was told that the redness may not go away and just have to live with it. I graduated now, wearing wraps which I put on myself during the day and take it off when I go to sleep at night. The wraps are Circaid which have velcro straps. One disadvantage is that it is not easy to put on regular pants and have to wear either a type of sweat pants in winter and a lot easier wearing shorts. Thanks for having this site so I am able to post. I do have more to say but I will post another message.

@@TheZzmel - I'm pleased to hear you are receiving treatment. Thank you for posting because it helps me and others know what can be done and the importance of being treated. My doctor told me casually to wear my old TEDS that had years ago for my DVT. I wasn't able to handle them mostly because they were too small. As you mentioned with pants its difficult. I had to keep taking the pants down and adjusting them. I didn't notice before if you were a man or women but if you are a man and must wear pants it is a problem. Perhaps a larger size of pants. Next time I try compression stockings or maybe those wraps I will wear a dress. Good luck to you and "take care"!

His swollen stomach caused his breathing to get worse. The chemist who filled his prescription out just shook his head and said to me that this predisnone is poison and does terrible things to the body. After what happened to my husband I can believe it. It can also cause cancer and that's what he died in of. Look it up on internet about class sue jobs re predisnone.
