Adding on the entirety of the LEGO series are excellent coop games for people who don't play a lot of video games. Simple levels, intuitive controls and absolutely zero pressure or time constraints. They are pretty simplistic but for new gamers the LEGO games are an absolute dream and my girlfriend really enjoyed the two Harry Potter games.

My boyfriend never played any videogames. He loves hiphop tho. So i got him interested in gaming by putting on a good radio channel in gta IV. He LOVED the music, explaining to me which era their from, and as soon as i gave him the controller he also loved to fight people for no reason^^ now we both enjoy our "criminal lifes" and shouting cops 🤣 sometimes he gets mad, when he is failing a mission repeatedly and grimmly hands me the controller but it is still lots of fun. Recently we started playing cuphead and we are already on isle two. The love for the art style and the fantastic music keeps us hooked even if we absolutely HATE Djimme. Now his brother hear about his new hobby and gave us The last of us. I am really excited to share this wonderful game with him. It is a fantastic thing to share these games with him and i am so happy to spend some time with him in this way

My girlfriend never actually played games before she got with me and it has been my goal ever since to turn her into a gamer. We started simple and slow with her favorite: Mario Kart 8. Now we play a lot of local multiplayer games together her favorites being Chariot, GRIP Combat Racing and of course Mario Kart. She also loves playing with my VR headset and she is crazy good at Super Hot VR. The next goal is for her to manage to move the camera and player independently, this has proven our biggest challenge and one of the biggest obstacles yet since it limits the games we can play together to the ones with fixed camera angles but she is working towards this goal.

This is old, but if you found yourself here I will add to the list: Spiritfarer is the ultimate co-op. You can fight over who gets to play the cat. Arise is very similar, and slower but has some fun mechanics for the second player. The Forest is a blast, but does get hard. It's best with 4 people but works fine with 2. I saw a brief clip of Don't Starve Together, but it wasn't in the review. When you tweak the maps to you preferred difficulty level it can be a ton of fun together. Killing Floor 2 is a very easy co-op shooter. Once you both know how to play an FPS (aka your Portal 'training' is done) and if you don't mind the gore it is very forgiving at lower difficulty levels. Again, even better with larger groups. Single player games like Night in the Woods and What Remains of Edith Finch are an absolute blast to play as a couple, swapping the controller for each level or whenever you like while being easy enough that you can both be 'good at it.'

The best co-op experience I ever had was with my sister playing "Trauma Center: New Blood" on the Wii. The reason why I think it's a special co-op compared to others are as follows. First, the gameplay and levels don't change in difficulty or anything. You both have all the same tools, and you just have a second set of hands in there. You can delegate tasks as each person will have different strengths and weaknesses. And the score is shared together so there's no competition. My sister had so much fun, she didn't want to stop until the game was over. Each level plays like a puzzle that gradually ramps up in intensity until your heart is racing, trying to save patients, and the rush of success, shared with your co-op buddy. I hope to see you make a video on that some day. P.S. you're hilarious. 10/10!

Well what about Brothers: Tale of two sons? or Life is strange? A way out? Broforce? Enter the gungeon? Magicka 2? Rampage Knights? Rayman legend? We were here? There are many co op games that can be very fun to play as couple! Nice vid, keep it up!!
