Anyone buying a GS3 for a lite commercial application should buy the AV version. It saves a lot of time.

You saved the best for last, that is... Kees van der Westen. In my mind, van der Westen's masterpiece is the Speedster, in terms of beauty, design, ergonomics, and engineering. I am crossing my fingers for the Spiritello. There is one more machine that I must mention. Price no object, it is still the greatest home espresso machine you can buy and... it is under the $6,000 price point, that is the Olympia Cremina. How do you improve a spoon?

@@Rydecoffeecoach Besides the stunning aesthetics, build quality, and engineering of the Spiritello, I covet that it's a single group lever machine. Amazing too is that the water reservoir is made out of stainless steel and not plastic, like in every other home espresso machine. The Spiritello is a masterpiece, perhaps the greatest lever espresso machine ever made. It's that good. The problem is that the size is too big for my tiny NYC kitchen. Heck, I'd have to tear out a kitchen cupboard to make room for that insanely tall lever.

In terms of reliability, La Marzocco is a solid choice. I own a Strada EP for 5 years. I pour two to three shots everyday, and it has no issue at all. I would add LM Leva X on your list. It is just another kind of machine. It looks super cool.

I used to own a Oscar for 10 years. Just as solid, but not as nice :-) Any machine can have a issue, but most of these known brands are going to be rather reliable.

Bro, love this video and agree with almost all of your thoughts. Quick correction... MODBAR was not invented by La Marzocco. It was invented by two fine Hoosiers, Aric Forbing and Gabe Vogelsang, and was founded and manufactured in the coffee Mecca (ALS) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA. I grew up in Fort Wayne, and just as you need to celebrate your Aussie wins, we Fort Wayneans need even more to celebrate Fort Wayne wins, because, after all, MODBAR might well be the only one ;)

Decent pumps are very reactive, you can manually pump with it, track and save and replicate recipes very easily while holding on to the remaining dollars. Also, Decent is upgradeable.

@@robertusga my use of the word is different to yours. I mean reactive in terms of if the flow changes for many reasons in terms of coffee the YOU reacts n amends the pressure. I can confirm the decent does not do this. I think highly of the decent it’s a fantastic machine but the YOU has these abilities while the decent does not.

@timothysweet6791 I believe you are misinformed. The Decent has ability to adjust pressure and flow using Adaptive profiles. The fact it does that with different type pumps does not affect outcome.

@PanzerIV88
@PanzerIV88 4 ай бұрын
I agree the Rocket R9 is clearly better than the GS3 but came in too late and is already in my opinion obsolete if you compare it to today's offering at the same or even lower price. It feels like muscles car that thought bigger is always better, not care at all about being eco friendly, etc. Sure it looks good and probably is very well built, however it is wayyyy too bulky, takes forever to heat up because the boilers are total overkill for 100% of home usage and even a lot of coffee shops too. It's ridiculously heavy and hard to move around at 105lbs! It was hard enough already to move 3 floors up "24 stairs" without elevator the Sanremo You to my home at 70lbs... Efficiency is key today, why heat up 1.9L + 3.6L of water just to make a 40-60ml espresso when you can hear way faster 0.5L+1.0L and still have as much power and stability? Having a screen that small and ugly like an old computer is unacceptable at this price range too at 10,000$CAD when the You at 9000$ can be found on sale at 7650$CAD like the one I bought this week in Canada. Don't get me wrong, I used to be a Rocket fan, I still have my (Rocket R58) since 2019, but I gotta admit they have horrible price quality ratios and you definitely pay more for them because of the branding and R logo 🙄

The Kees van der Westen stuff is ridiculously badass. Total over the top hot rod design. It would still be cool if it punched holes in paper or dispensed gumballs. Heck, it's almost too cool to be a coffee machine. Who even has a kitchen worthy of such a piece? They could branch out into hifi gear. There's a few over the top designs in that market too, but nothing quite like Kees. I couldn't afford one, but I love that such a company exists and is making art with metal.

The San Remo You looks great, and can be found for under AUS$10,000. It's a pity the E61 group head means you lose around 2cm of usable water tray width. Not good if you use a scale and wide cups. Hopefully they will extend the width in the next version.

I have a video on it earlier on, but honestly it won't make my best of list until they fix so many things including the design! What's confusing to me, for a lot of these high priced machines the verdict appears to be "almost as good as the Decent. You can almost dial in as many parameters as the Decent." That begs the question: why not by a Decent and keep the remaining 3000 to 10,000 to buy coffee?
@pwk6466
@pwk6466 4 ай бұрын
The Decent can do all sorts brew parameters at most . In terms built quality , robustness , aesthetics (subjective ) , performance ie steam and temp stability , brand history , ownership experience etc etc , Decent is nowhere close to the proper built machines .
@robertusga
@robertusga 4 ай бұрын
@pwk6466 except temp stability. Nothing has more temp stability than the Decent for the simple reason it has sensor at the group head (not at boiler way down the path) and can adjust instantly.

@pwk6466 I don't really care about conventional or ICE. I just want the best coffee, repeatable and fast. I don't want a guessing game, and I don't want to have to wait or mess with timers. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate a beautifully crafted well built piece of kit.
@RegrinderAlert
@RegrinderAlert 4 ай бұрын
@@pwk6466 Decent by design can have way better temp stability if you want it to. But I don't know why anyone would want to keep the temp stable throughout the shot. You want it to drop towards the end for basically any coffee. Consistency is good. Stability is bad. Decent let's you choose at least. Also way more reliable than anything LaMarzocco, VA, Slayer, Rocket makes.

I got a Mara X as well as a Bianca V3, Rocket R58 and Sanremo Your since last week. You really want to upgrade asap the crappy stock shower for a "IMS E61" Nanotech if you want but the coating will be gone in a year anyway. Also get "IMS or Barista Pro Baskets" and grind precisely like with doses of 18.0 or 20.0g and that will really help your consistency! Also having a leveler and a 58.5 not stock 58mm tamper. These are the best affordable upgrades that will make a big difference on any machine from 200$ to 9000$.
