Great show. I am an absolute fan of Ragman. One of my favorites 😊
@bobtrottier8178 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely,Ragman...the tatterdemalion,I believe was the tagline?? Had the mini when I first started collecting. Grew up in Baltimore,first person I met was Steve Geppi at Geppis comic world in the inner harbor. Every day for an entire summer,mom went to work in the mercantile bank building and I unknowingly sat and read comics with THE GUY...he turned me on to some really good reading, amazing books for a pittance and i got to meet giants in the industry over time.Still keep in touch with Steve... Coming from the corn in Illinois to inner city Baltimore was terrifying at 12 years old 😂

Love these Legion of Super-Heroes comics. The Mike Grell art in the low 200's is when he was at his best. The story in 210 is well done by a young Jim Shooter. I really enjoy these videos with the banter between you two--looks like you are having fun.

I wouldn't mind spending my evening watching your videos. 😁 This was a great bunch of books and plenty of Bronze Age DC, which is where my collectors heart is at. Justice League of America is my all-time favorite title. I especially love issues #100 - #200 and have several duplicates because I have multiple copy sickness. Loved Ragman and thought that short run in the 70s is underappreciated. Also, I loved Kirby's time at DC. He produced so many gems, several that you showed. You two have a great channel. I love the content.

@Future Past Vintage Collectables I forgot to add that I loved the 52/48 pages for 25 cents era that DC had for a year in the early 70s. I know they lost their shirts by doing that, but the good thing was that you got a new story and several reprints. I really liked that format for their mystery, war, and Sci Fi titles.

That First Issue Special #9 with Dr. Fate brings back so, so many childhood memories. It's what got me interested in mythology as a kid. Still have that book but not nearly in the same shape as the one you have. I recently picked up the Lady Cop issue at a recent Con in town last weekend - it's been a ghost for me for a while so was happy to pick it up.

I know you've mentioned several times that you have technically only gotten back into the hobby a few years ago, did you keep any comics from when you were younger? I don't know what happened to my old comics. 🙁 I suppose my mom threw them out without me knowing. *sigh*

I'm not worried about newsstand copies either. The whole rare thing would probably only be from what '98 or '99 on. I've collected from the early 90's on. I remember them everywhere until about then. Never got why people decided to try saying that. Guessing just trying to find a way to sell stuff they have in bulk.
@futurepastvintagecollectables Жыл бұрын
I used to pass on books that were newsstands in the 90's. I didn't like them. As someone who sells comics full time for a living, I need to provide people with what they want. That has changed my perspective a bit.
@robphoenix1182 Жыл бұрын
@Future Past Vintage Collectables understandable. I'm only a collector so my view is definitely biased. In that light I have to add I do not like were collecting is going. Hopefully we'll find a saving grace out there some where. Liked the vid great books. Keep up the great work and stay true to your style man. Can tell your daughter is a bit more numbers driven. In the end hope it stays fun too.

Hello Dave, Rachel, another great showing of comics. Yes, I love punk Elvis in omac,that sure would've been different. I need help, what do you use to remove felt marker off of comics. I have a night nurse #2 with green felt marker on the front cover. I tried a Q-tip lightly damp, managed to get little off. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us on the comic Hobby
@futurepastvintagecollectables Жыл бұрын
I haven't had a lot of success with that. There are some wet cleaning applications that may work, but I find them to change the texture of the paper, which is why I don't use them.

Once you start collecting high grade Silver and Bronze Age books, it sure is hard to go back to buying mid to low grade books. I won’t buy low grade but will buy mid grade as a placeholder until I can find a better near mint condition book. I don’t believe in the saying “low grade is better than no grade.” That’s not true for me.
@futurepastvintagecollectables Жыл бұрын
I don't say that either, because I don't collect that way. I have always wanted high grade comics. I now get books from any era up to copper if they are exceptional copies, regardless of the title.
