Worked as a volunteer nurse in the West Bank in the '80's & was treated with utmost hospitality, courtesy & gratitude by every Palestinian I encountered. However, in a village I was (distantly) taunted with rocks by young kids mistaking me as Israeli simply due to my fair hair, skin colouring & possibly western attire. Was a powerful eye opening realisation of how 'automatic' reactive prejudice & hatred can begin on nothing more than un-informed assumptions & 'different' appearances! Terrible what is happening, are all the hostages returned? Hamas needs to start there... as long as they hold these hostages the Israel army will not stop until Gaza is a parking lot. The situation is complicated with no quick answer, but nobody should be held against their will. It's terrible on how Israel has been treating the Palestine people in Gaza and the West Bank, but it will only get worse if these hostages are not released and give's Israel the motivation to continue the ultimate destruction of Gaza and the Palestine people.
