Mary, I am so jealous of the time we live in now. I grew up in the 60's&70's when rock and roll were the mainstays. I played the guitar for about 3 years when I broke my left wrist while showing off as teenage boys do. I never played again because of that injury. I miss it so. Now I watch and listen to you and dream of what might have been. You truly live in a different time. The tools you have are truly unique and wonderful. Then add in the genius of your music. WOW!!!!! As someone who grew up on tape machines when digital was in its infancy and incapable of hard disc recording, I can tell you that this is what we always wanted. It’s why the cassette multitrack machines sold (I still have several in a closet upstairs). I wish I were young enough to adapt to these new apps as quickly as you are. That said, I agree that iPad Pro is hands down the best tool on a plane. My app of choice is Presonus Notion because I’m an orchestral guy these days. My guitars sit neglected in the corner, fellow victims of arthritis. You’re absolutely right that you can get away with using an iPad on a plane when everyone else is chafing as their laptops lie under the seat in front of them. I find it hard to get inspired on a plane where you’re oxygen-deprived and not altogether comfortable. But I have learned to save the busy work for those times. Once an orchestral idea is sketched, fleshing out the parts is more or less perfunctory. Kudos to Apple for the iPad Pro and AirPods Max!

Certainly all the things you point out are true, and convenience is the name of the game. But what about living with dongles all the time? All good. I get your point. The only downside of all of this is in its root, you are renting the tools. Monthly fees is another scam from Apple. I have my 1000$ MacBook Air with my 200$ Logic Pro I bought in 2011 which I use in remote with my 300$ iPad 10. It’s not exactly the same setup but at least, I own it and it’s a major point. I will completely ditch Apple and move forward to competition if they go down this subscription road.

One of my big bugbears with any modern computing products I use is when they suddenly stop responding, or slow right down, even if it's a momentary glitch. With any kind of rhythmical or timing sensitive activity (music, video, gaming, whatever) it can totally mess things up. How are these new products in terms of contuing to work smoothly over time? How do they compare with previous products, in that regard? Can you trust that touch-sensitivity, for example, to stay consistent throughout a whole song, or might a momentary pause of the processor cause it to miscalculate the velocity and throw areally loud note into the middle of a soft passage of music? Would love to hear your experiences of such things Mary, good and bad.

Hey Mary, this may sound 'trite' but I've realised that as well as enjoying your music and your information, there's something more profound for me in watching and listening to you! I was talking to my elder brother John and I sent him some of your YT channel, he said that you reminded him of someone close, our mother! Although she wasn't a singer or musician as such, her talking voice was very similar to yours and she was the most intelligent person I knew! She strted life in Oxford, so had a very pure Oxford (Queen's English) accent. As well as bringing up all 5 of her children (and a wayward husband) she was a teacher and respected by everyone who knew her, except those of extreme Right Wing tendancies. We all loved her very much. Her side of the family was steeped in music, with her (our)great, great, great Grandfather being the composer/virtuoso violinist of the mid 1800s Ferdinand David, lifetime friend of Felix Mendellsohn, The current generation are all musical to some extent, but not active, although I wish I was!! ~Richard
