Compound V is pretty random, so any explanation would work. We've seen supes die from from things that would kill a normal human, but we've also seen them survive incredibly volatile situations, and stormfront didn't age. It definitely seems like the writers are pointing toward Butcher having residual effects from the Compound V, and I think this could possibly be a side effect of someone who is near death being exposed to it at a late stage in their life, like we might also see with Hughie's dad.

I think butcher was exposed to v as a child but never showed up in a traditional way the newly exposed v usage might create another soldier boy type giving him the ability to go against homelander but creating a new villain in its place

I think Butcher is suffering a side effect of being a developed person taking Compound V. He seems to have 1 worm like the 4 worms that Neumans daughter has. I think they said in season 1 the possible side effects or death increases the older a person is who takes V

The doctor was definitely straight up facing Hughie in the scene this episode. Hughie gave his dad the temp V but uses his mom as the “excuse” to give it to her. Guaranteed at one point we get a “I didn’t give it to him, my mom did!” line.

Okay so here's my thought.. it was Victoria Newman!! She's behind it all, somehow she's involved. She needs Butcher alive as part of her plan to get rid of Homelander. She helped Sage set up the fight between Starlight and Firecracker... she was already on scene to witness it all. What she didn't expect was for Frenchie to get made and Butcher having to come to his rescue... she saw Butcher was about to die and she did what she needed to keep him alive.

What do you think Sage is referring to when she says that one pebble has fallen? I doubt that she considers the Boys as a threat enough to bother dismantling them, but possibly Starlight as someone who could be in the way of a supe in the whitehouse? Only reason I think Huey's Mom might not be real is in the scene where Butcher falls in the bathroom, from his perspective Becca stretches her hand to help him up and it seems like he's almost grabbing her before the camera pans to a "neutral" perspective where he just uses the tub to help himself up. We've gotta consider that Compound V is next level stuff, it could go beyond simple illusions to totally changing ones perspective. However, with every passing episode I'm less convinced she's not real.

Brandon Barrick: Sir, every time Hughie's mom talks, the doctor looks directly at her. Hughie also had that shady guy (that was looking at his laptop and closed it, baldy with a beard and glasses) look at the power of attorney.
