What Did Einstein Believe About Spinoza's God?
In this video, we explore Albert Einstein's belief in Spinoza's God and how it influenced his worldview. We discuss Spinoza's concept of God as the underlying force that governs the universe, which resonated with Einstein's own rationalist beliefs. Through his rejection of traditional religious beliefs, Einstein saw the natural world as a source of wonder and inspiration, providing a deeper sense of meaning and purpose. We examine the connections between rationalism, pantheism, and the understanding of natural laws, as well as the implications of Einstein's views on science, religion, and the universe. Join us as we dive into the fascinating intersection of philosophy, science, and human understanding.

Spinoza’s God : When Einstein gave lectures at U.S. universities, the question students asked him most was: Do you believe in God? And he always answered: I believe in the God of Spinoza. Baruch de Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher considered one of the great rationalists of 17th century philosophy, along with Descartes. According to Spinoza, God would say: “Stop praying. I want you to go out into the world and enjoy your life. I want you to sing, have fun and enjoy everything I've made for you. “Stop going into those dark, cold temples that you built yourself and saying they are my house. My house is in the mountains, in the woods, rivers, lakes, beaches. That's where I live and there I express my love for you. “Stop blaming me for your miserable life; I never told you there was anything wrong with you or that you were a sinner, or that your sexuality was a bad thing. Sex is a gift I have given you and with which you can express your love, your ecstasy, your joy. So don't blame me for everything that others made you believe. “Stop reading alleged sacred scriptures that have nothing to do with me. If you can't read me in a sunrise, in a landscape, in the look of your friends, in your son's eyes-you will find me in no book! “Stop asking me, ‘Will you tell me how to do my job?’ Stop being so scared of me. I do not judge you or criticize you, nor get angry or bothered. I am pure love. “Stop asking for forgiveness, there's nothing to forgive. If I made you, I filled you with passions, limitations, pleasures, feelings, needs, inconsistencies, and best of all, free will. Why would I blame you if you respond to something I put in you? How could I punish you for being the way you are, if I'm the one who made you? Do you think I could create a place to burn all my children who behave badly for the rest of eternity? What kind of god would do that? “Respect your peers, and don't give what you don't want for yourself. All I ask is that you pay attention in your life-alertness is your guide. “My beloved, this life is not a test, not a step on the way, not a rehearsal, not a prelude to paradise. This life is the only thing here and now-and it is all you need. “I have set you absolutely free, no prizes or punishments, no sins or virtues, no one carries a marker, no one keeps a record. You are absolutely free to create in your life. It’s you who creates heaven or hell. “Live as if there is nothing beyond this life, as if this is your only chance to enjoy, to love, to exist. Then you will have enjoyed the opportunity I gave you. And if there is an afterlife, rest assured that I won't ask if you behaved right or wrong, I'll ask, ‘Did you like it? Did you have fun? What did you enjoy the most? What did you learn?’ “Stop believing in me; believing is assuming, guessing, imagining. I don't want you to believe in me, I want you to believe in you. I want you to feel me in you when you kiss your beloved, when you tuck in your little girl, when you caress your dog, when you bathe in the sea. “Stop praising me. What kind of egomaniac God do you think I am? I'm bored with being praised. I'm tired of being thanked. Feeling grateful? Prove it by taking care of yourself, your health, your relationships, the world. Express your joy! That's the way to praise me. “Stop complicating things and repeating as a parrot what you've been taught about me. Why do you need more miracles? So many explanations? “The only thing for sure is that you are here, that you are alive, that this world is full of wonders.”

Same here. I deeply respect the God that Spinoza believed with a childlike faith. Rainbows reveal the entire spectrum of all reality to perceptive people, sir. Much respect intended toward you. Red = Radio Waves = Determination - 652 - 740 Orange = Micro-Waves = Joy - 590 - 625 Yellow = Infra-Red Rays = Surprise - 565 - 590 Green = Visible Spectrum = Curiosity - 520 - 565 Blue = Ultra-Violet Rays = Sorrow - 445 - 520 Indigo = X-Rays = Fear - 425 - 445 Violet = Gamma Rays = Hate - 380 - 425 Sirach 43:11-13 Revised Standard Version Look upon the rainbow, and praise Him who made it, exceedingly beautiful in its brightness. It encircles the heaven with its glorious arc; the hands of the Most High have stretched it out. The Marvels of Nature By His command he sends the driving snow and speeds the lightnings of His judgment. We need to stop conflating change with progress. Natural metamorphosis can be a painful butterfly effect that is a 'good change' synonymous with 'progress'. But 'deliberate destruction' should never be conflated with 'progress'. Stop 'crossing the streams' people. Crossing the streams is bad. Stay blessed in the Lord.

Einstein was asked, do you believe in God? His answer, “I believed in Spinoza’s God.” What is Spinoza’s God? As a student of Spinoza’s philosophy these past 50+ years, I understand Spinoza’s God and if you’re interested, I can help you incorporate Spinoza’s ideas into your life. Love, peace, and happiness will manifest.

'Natural Law' is a philosophical term referring to God's absolute law and absolute truth. 'Laws of nature' refer to patterns in nature found by modern science and philosophy. Natural laws I therefore find to be a confusing term. I don't think Einstein believes in Natural Law. Does he believe in absolute truth or does he think truth is relative (given he came up with the law of relativity)?

well, it can explain how Life was created, but it doesn´t explain "where morality come from"?
@admdagarrafinha6429
@admdagarrafinha6429 5 күн бұрын
The concept of morality has been around since human civilisation, in default, morality means limiting suffering as much as possible, the idea of morality is not dependent on a sentient cosmic being like a god or a spirit, and is in fact, a biologic factor that is a product of human survival. According to various researches, it is essential for humans to live in communities for survival of the fittest, if someone in a tribe goes and harms another member than that person will get kicked out and forced to fight for themselves and probably die in the process. Humans are not the only animals known for being social or working groups, wolves, bees, ants, and even non social animals exhibit some kind of "empathy" towards their peers.

"... and must be taken on faith and his mercy and love ... "?! Are you talking about the one who burnt and drowned countless people - innocent children included - because he got a bit angry on them for a moment? The "Almighty" who allows terrible diseases, war, famine and natural disasters to plague mankind? The god who sends anyone who does not accept his terms to hell to burn eternally? You must be joking ...

And who/what created this almighty God? What about Hinduism with more than one God? or Buddhism which which has no God per se and even the Buddha said he is not a God. Humans always need to believe in a superior 'God'. for me I'll side with Einstein on this one. The Universe is not driven by life nor does it care about humans on this small planet of ours. Yet, the Universe is truly amazing. Appreciate that and it give you comfort. We are all star stuff as Carl Sagan once said. That's enough for me.

@@E-s.thoughtsIn the Qur’an, God said, “Corruption is no more.” Rather, land and the sea, because of what your hands have earned. Then he said, “And your Lord is not unjust to His servants.” Then He said, “Call upon Me, I will respond to you.” You must know that wars, killing, and viruses spread corruption. A man has intercourse with another man, and his command has intercourse with his command. Permissible what God has forbidden, and they follow desires. Here he meant God. Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what your hands have earned, and God Almighty is compassionate. He does not need at all to torture or kill people. He created them, taught them, and sent them messengers to guide them. The Prophet Muhammad said, “I was sent only to perfect good morals. The Arabs were bloodthirsty and raped women, and after the Messenger of today sent the Arabs to them until They are afraid to look at women's faces, and they do not have adultery or sodomy. They fear their Lord. Therefore, my brother, this is evidence of the mercy of God Almighty, that He guides people not to wrong each other. As for the topic of fire, hell, and torture, yes, it is a threat to the ungodly and the unjust who oppress the world. Despite all this, he said, “God is Forgiving and Merciful.”

Christians are so insecure. Always feel the need to impose their point of view. You never seen pagans, buddhists or hindus do that. You barely believe in your own nonsense, that's why you need to reassure yourself by repeating to everyone that it's the only truth.

Spinoza does not equate the God with the Universe. The Universe is just one expression of God. Said differently, the Universe is an infinitely small subset of the God. Spinoza's God has much more attributes than the Universe. So, Spinoza's Nature is not equal to the Universe we inhabit, as it is often wrongly interpreted. Also, the immortality of soul is a derivation within Spinoza's philosophy, which for modern science is a tabu. There are many other differences between what modern science claims and Spinoza's philosophy.

Fine ... so all that remains is to prove unconditionally and irreversibly that the contents of the Bible contain ultimate truth. A book written by various, actually unknown authors (more than 40) over a period of roughly 1500 years with the last text written in about 200 AD! Nobody has any idea what kind of people these were and whether they possessed any knowledge at all. And as for the New Testament, there is even considerable doubt as to whether the four gospels were written by those after whom they are named! Allow me to put more trust in the researchers who have managed to distinguish themselves in their scientific and/or philosophical work rather than blindly adopting some Bible verses as "the highest good".

This is blatant misinformation on so many levels : 1. It is ‘Spinoza’ not ‘Espinoza’ 2. Spinoza’s God has absolutely nothing to do with the Muslim God or any abrahamic God whatsoever (Spinoza’s God doesn’t even have a will). 3. Spinoza’s lived during the seventeenth century, which means Islam was originated about 1000 years before Spinoza, not 1400 years.
