I had Hypnotherapy, so that I could go and see The Book of Mormon show (amongst other things) but did it work?
I went to Les Roberts Hypnotherapy & NLP CIC, in St. Helen's UK. I'm purely recounting my own experiences with her and I'm not qualified to judge her beyond that.

Congratulations on getting your life back. As someone who suffers from toileting emergency’s and accidents over a very regular basis … even being 30 paces from my loo is often too far … my stress and anxiety have led to suffering agoraphobia for years, and now, as I’ve got older my mobility isn’t the best either. I know the spiralling of low self esteem, loss of quality of life, and just plain feeling that life is not worth living (at times) can just drag you down but to hear about a success story can be so uplifting and makes me want to try harder to find such a solution for myself. So thank you so much for sharing your journey.

So sorry to hear that Donna. It's so debilitating but the hypnotherapy has helped loads. Yesterday I walked to a local salon and got my hair cut, then walked home via the pharmacy (to collect an unrelated prescription). Everything was fine! There is hope but I know how hard it is and I am sending you love. xx

I’m so chuffed for you Val…!! The world is your oyster 🥰 You are NEVER a waste of time. Whatever you have to say, no matter the subject is always either funny or informative, and often both. Honestly, I’m just delighted for your newly rediscovered ability to enjoy life, even the mundane going for a pint of milk. xx

Oh Val, your story about the nice chat with the hypnotherapist reminded me of my mum and brother. Years ago, my mum took my brother to a hypnotherapist to try to stop him from smoking...... he 'went out like a light' according to the account and my mum thought it was so funny that she had to press her handy to her mouth to stop the shrieks of laughter escaping! My brother stopped smoking for almost exactly four hours....... mum never smoked again! I hope your progress continues, it's so nice to see you back on our screens. Take care, than, your lucky stars that you're not still in Kent, there's been no water on the island for several days recently! XxxX

I am so happy for you!!! My youngest with extreme social anxiety & major fears of spiders and needles did very well with hypnotherapy as well. I know it doesn't seem like a lot because it doesn't hurt you while it happens, but it allows your brain to let go of the trauma that has produced this issue. Congratulations!

Years ago I ceased trying to dissect and absolutely understand many things I experience. I know my body requires oxygen to survive but thankfully I do not have to make any effort to accomplish that task, it happens naturally. I definitely do not understand hypnotherapy but I do not doubt it can be beneficial. My concern would be locating a qualified and skilled hypnotherapist - you obviously managed to locate a winner. Yay! You must be delighted with your newly found freedom. Enjoy yourself. You certainly deserve it.

This is amazing. I've had same issues too. I think 50% ibs and 50% mind. I take lansoprazole permanently and don't eat sugar outside of the house and this has helped loads. It is awful when the panicking starts and prevents you from planning or going out. Well done you.

I tried Hypnotherapy quite a few years ago for my IBS. Unfortunately it didn't work for me but what did is a low carb diet. I had to lose weight last year so started eating low carb and lost my weight. What I wasn't counting on though was the good side effects of that way of eating for a few health problems I had had for decades including the IBS. I think I've worked out that I have a problem with gluten or actual wheat itself. I would recommend anybody to try it if you suffer with ongoing health problems even if they aren't just contained to the stomach area. I've since cut out eating wheat and gluten and I don't get half the stomach pain I used to get or the constant need for the toilet. I've had the occasional "treats" of cakes or sausage rolls etc and it does lead to the symptoms coming back so I don't eat it at all now. I'm so glad that Hypnotherapy has helped you. It's no fun having your life dictated to you by your toileting needs.

I did the same thing for my extreme fear of birds. It was so bad I couldn’t be outside to enjoy nature. It took a few short and long sessions. I can’t be close to them but I can now see them and not go hysterical. I find I am not as calm as I was so I think I need to go for a so called top up but am still way better than before I went. I 100% believe in Hypnotherapy and I know my husband sees a huge difference as we can be outside and he doesn’t have to be on guard for.

I bought a book on my kindle which I haven' t read yet called "The brain's way of healing" by Norman Doidge, which is about Neuroplasticity. He has you tube videos which you might find interesting. After I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago, I had no control over my digestion or bowels for about two years. A nurse told me this is pretty common after the surgery and with stomach-banding surgery for weight reduction. I still have to eat small amounts every day instead of three big meals, and occasionally get tummy twinges, but I lived as you did for a long time and it was no fun. Enjoy your new freedom. Are you still crafting with polymer clay?
